Mmm...could be....or maybe it's saltines?  ;) And a couple secret spices *cough* pepper *cough* and paprika *coughcoughphlegm*...

But yeah, it was GOOooooOOD! Except no veggies...forgot all about them in the chaos. (Dishes are all cleaned up now, btw)

Presentation wise, a white plate with chicken and rice needs a splash of color like green beans. I made chicken, mashed potatoes, and cauliflower once, it just looked wrong on the plate.

Evaluation noted. I shall use food coloring next time, and have blue chicken and green rice.

Sounds like you've been tailgating at Grateful Dead shows!

When I make my oven-baked "fried" chicken, I use an eggwash on the chicken parts, roll them in Bisquick, and season prior to baking at 350F.  That way, I don't tax my brain too much.

I had a taco salad for dinner.

QuoteI peeled, quartered, and cored a pineapple, and put it in a Ziploc bag with maybe three or four tablespoons of clover honey, a half teaspoon of vanilla extract, and a teeny pinch of cinnamon. While that macerated, I lit the charcoal grill. When the coals were ready, I wiped the grill with butter and put the pineapple slabs on. Five minutes to a side, but you have to babysit this, the sugar will burn. As it cooked, I poured the honey/pineapple juice from the bag over it. Ta-dah!

Next time, you should try rings. I buy fresh sliced rings at my local grocery, brush some honey over them and sprinkle a mix of cayenne pepper and hungarian paprika over them. Yum! I've also used jerk seasoning+lime zest+a light dusting of sugar in the raw. Very good either way. :D

Fresh peaches are also very good when grilled with some honey and fresh mint or some honey and cinnamon. I served both versions over greek yogurt or vanilla ice cream with a granola crumble topping as a dessert at family cookouts last year.

Ugh, now I'm craving grilled fruit. Maybe tomorrow I'll make some Green Chicken and grilled pineapple. I have some pablano peppers that need to go too....anyone got any ideas for what I can do with those??

That sounds easier than crushing 28 saltines by hand...LOL (Hey, that's what the recipe called for)

I've been trying out Vegetarianism lately so tonight was a Veggie burger and a bowl of pinto beans with chow chow. Ordered some TVP (textured vegetable protein) and am thinking of making some Seitan (mock meat) in a few days. Hopefully I can get it seasoned correctly.

Ah sweet, let me know how your mock meat turns out! The homemade ones I've had were extremely good, but never made any myself.  :)

I didn't feel like cooking at all tonight, so I was lazy and had an Aldi frozen dinner, it was chicken and fried rice. It was pretty good, and looking at the nutritional facts, it wasn't all that unhealthy.

I made some Seitan (mock meat) from scratch. Put it with some sauteed leeks, corn on the cob, and squash on the side. Then had a snack of hummus and corn chips.

After the 4th of July, my local supermarket had some nice looking ribeye steaks on sale for half price.  So I bought four and frozen them.  Thawed out two tonight.

The way I cooked them was to quickly sear the outside in a cast iron skillet, with oil, a bit of garlic salt, and pepper.  When they had been browned on both sides, I popped the skillet in a 450F over for a few minutes.

In the meantime, I sliced some yellow onion and mushrooms, and sauteed them with a little sherry.  Topped the sizzling hot steaks with the onions and mushrooms and sauteing liqueur (like a sauce).  Side salad and green beans.  Yum.

Only one of the tastiest german/turkish fast-foods. You can get one at every corner here. Ich hab ne Zwiebel aufm Kopf, ich bin ein Döner, denn Döner macht schöner. Have you tried making Reibekuchen yet?
