For those who don't know me, I'm not full time yet and doing a somewhat "stealth transition" at this point so I was pretending to be a guy in this story.

About 3 hours ago, my driver and I get stopped at a checkpoint on the way to Freetown form Makini. They aren't trying to shake us down for money like the Mozambican police but just keeping an eye on things.

He is at my window and only talks to me . He is friendly and just asking what I'm up to. There are too other cops next to them and they are huddled close together by my window since it is lightly raining. He suddenly says, "you look like a woman. Very beautiful!" I smiled real big and looked at the other two cops and said, "did you hear that? He said I look like a beautiful woman. You may want to watch him!"

They all laugh and he tries to explain himself and that he was just saying that I was beautiful like a woman as opposed to handsome like a man.  He asked a few more questions and we were on our way. I told the driver, "can you believe he said I look like a woman? He must need glasses!"  My driver just giggled and didn't remark.... Lol  I guess that counts as a "male fail"?

Yeah, that does :P.
In the light of other topics, where You posted very insightful comments, I wont even ask what You were doing in Sierra Leone and why Your transition goes in stealth mode ;).

Well! Cute story, and thanks for the update... your initial post about embarking on this mission was a bit worrisome (and while I hope that this isn't offensive to you, or anyone else - I feel better about your odds knowing that you are presenting male... not counting the Sierra Leone Gendarmes... ;)).

Take care!
I ain't scared... I just don't want to mess up my hair.

I'm surprised you're not doing what I'm doing-using the Estradiol implant. That's the only way I'll go in-theater. I'm always stealth there.

Yes, but how did you actually feel about the comment? Was it an exhilarating moment? I bet you felt beautiful! You sure go to some dangerous places. I can see how transitioning on the job would be extremely difficult considering the work you do.

I need to look into the implant. I knew they existed but haven't put much thought into it. Good idea!!!!!

If I was ever detained, held, kidnapped, or captured by insurgents I'd have 6-7 months of HRT without worrying about transdermal patches or oral meds.

I think HRT would be the least of your worries :o
