Running around outside naked with a hairball hacking cat sounds dangerous but gives entertainment to the imagination  >:-)

Mp3 players seem like pretty interesting devices.  I wouldn't know how to work the thing.  Same goes for Ipods.  I can't tell the difference.  The technology is just out of my scope of comprehension.

Anyone German around? I need help with a translation thing. Everything I find says "Du bist toll" means "You are wonderful" or "You are great." I can't find anything that indicates any sort of intimate connotation. Yet, my friend is insisting it is only supposed to be used for intimate relationships.

I'm not German, but I do have a thing for languages  :)  It also means "You are amazing" - So think about it, if someone has been intimate with another and they respond "You are wonderful" or "You are great" or "You are amazing" it's kinda like saying "You rock my world"... Starting to make sense?

Not really. Is it only used in that sense or even mostly used in that sense?
  •

V M

It's kinda like in English when the same sentence can have a different meaning depending on when and how it is used, but generally it means that someone is really good at doing something or very well liked for some reason

I believe it is mostly used in a generally friendly way but can also be used in an intimate situation

Well, in this situation, it was very clearly meant in a generally friendly way.

Right on, hopefully I helped some  :)

Yeah thanks. Unfortunately, now I know my friend made a big deal out of me merely saying something nice to her. I do not like this.
  •

V M

Oh I get it, you were just trying to be nice and she took it the wrong way

I've had that kind of thing happen before, it's a real pain and makes for an awkward situation

Arrrgh, hate it when that kinda stuff happens

Oh yeah. I am very tempted to tell her she's full of herself, but settled instead for informing her that I have confirmed that she is incorrect and that I shall no longer be saying anything nice to her at all in case she reads too much into it.

Okay, I was going to recommend something like this, but If you got it handled already, never mind

Es tut uns leid, wenn Sie nahm es der falsche Weg, aber ich bin nur ein Freund, mehr nicht - Sorry if you took it the wrong way, but I'm just a friend, nothing more

By using the Sie formal you are signifying that she is not someone close to you where as du is informal and signifies a friendship or relation of sorts

Oh she doesn't speak German as far as I know, so she wouldn't understand that anyway.
I did tell her that in English.
Oddly enough, in the same "I feel uncomfortable" speech, she also said she thinks of me as a brother which makes the whole thing especially awkward for me because I like her, but I don't like her that much.

Right on, just let it cool out awhile and don't worry on it

I don't have an Ipod. I do have a cheap MP3 player that my mom bought me for Christmas. It's easy enough to operate BUT it does have this one stupid quirk: It has a 5 band EQ in it, that the manual doesn't even mention. When you access this EQ, you can't go to each individual band to adjust it. It is REALLY annoying. All I can do is cut the lowest Bass band all the way down and that is it. If I could cut down both of the Bass bands, increase the two Treble bands and leave the Mids set at flat, it would sound much better.

I used to have a sandisk mp3 player. It was decent but it wouldnt connect to a computer at all. Then got an ipod touch.. My sister ate it. Then an ipod nano and left it at my parents house.
Now i have an iphone but i dont have nearly enough space.
Might need to upgrade after a while.
