I have a big head, but my curly hair helps hide it a little, but it does nothing for my horsey-face.

I did measure my head and the head of a coworker the other day, mostly just to annoy her, but anyhoo, we were about the same diameter head. So apparently, she has a big head as well. And if it matters, she and I have about the same size foot too.

A big head is a typical MTF trait....but making it appear even bigger with a big hairdo/too full wig and cheekimplants and augmented lips...is a reality disorder.

FFS to reduce a forehead, jaw and chin thus making your face look smaller , sure.

BUT a reduced forehead emphasises your jaw and chin, a smaller nose emphasises the width/size of your (already) big face and cheekimplants.....look ridiculous, making a big face look even bigger and out of proportion.

Plus: cheekimplants make a face look harsh/older, even a ciswoman's face.

Ciswomen who had (way) too much plastic surgery almost always look like transsexuals...but having a small head :-)

I think about FFS all the friggin time but this is a really good point!  I really don't care about how pretty i look (ok I care a bit) but I really just want to look female.  I think I would rather not pass than look like a trainwreck.

I can't really comment on this in the way you want, but I just wanted to put a reminder out there. I am 5'10 with a massive head and I am ftm. I know it helps me now, but I think it is worth noting that not all people who went through female puberty are petite. If you pass well enough in other areas I'm sure nobody even notices.

That's a really good perspective coming from someone who is FTM.  We can really learn a lot from each other if you think about it.  I think I will focus on passing over all instead of thinking about each thing that I friggin hate.  Thank you so much!

Hah, I think the same thing about my face. I sure we are both just being knuckle heads about it.

I was thinking and for me a the problem doesn't stop at my head's size , i hate my hands and feet too, they are just huge . For example i like bracelets a lot but i can't wear the ones that are solid  , i need the ones that have a lock and can be set direclty on the forearm/wrist area . With shoes it is even worse , i struggle so much to find a pair that fits me , i don't even get to choose model / color , i am just happy when i find one that fits my monster feet . I heard a girl saying that HRT made her feet a little smaller so i still hope , i need a little decrease to mingle in the women big size category, now i am in extralarge zone  ;D
Do any of you have this kind of problems and how do you cope with them ?

A large head never stopped this girl:

... and she has an epic sized mellon. Many guys find her smoking hot, which never computed with me... but a big-head is a small problem. Really.

I know what you mean Claudia.  I used to live with women with hands and feet that were bigger than mine and probably yours too. lol  They would always complain about the same thing.  Always looking and looking for the right size, the right fit.  At least we have the excuse of being born male then becoming female later.  Can you imagine being bigger than all the boys in class, having a flippin mustache (yeah they had to shave!), and being born a genetic female?

Still they do fine and I'm sure we will too.

Wow, 5'6".  I'd love to be 5'6" and have that problem. lol  I guess 5'9" is that big of a difference though.

I have got to get better at that.  Owning it. I guess practice makes perfect!

The difference between scale and proportion is critical here... having a large head in proportion to your neck and shoulders will actually help with feminine appearance.

I have huge hands- scaled against cis girls hands... but they are proportioned such that they look slender and feminine.  Yay for small mercies.

Body... meet brain.  Now follow her lead and there will be no more trouble, you dig?

no... I'm a transman with a super small head though!  In bio class (in undergrad) we had to measure all of our heads one time and it was me and one other guy at the super small end with all the ladies.  I wasn't officially out in that class, but many people in that class just made the assumption that i was a dude (even with my female name) so I didn't correct them.  He/shes didn't really effect the immediate situation much.

Really when it comes down to it its like other people said... your head size does not determine your gender in other people's eyes.  That other kid in my class was very definitely a cisguy and he was at the bottom with me.  No one questioned his gender.  Why should they?

Hi Lara,

I wouldn't worry too much about head size as that's just one part of your overall look. In my family my mum and me have the biggest heads while my dad and sister have the smallest one's - we're an odd looking family!

One of my exes is a cisgender girl with a big, ol' noggin. Didn't stop her from being a beautiful woman, and I can't see why it would stop anyone who wants to be a beautiful woman from being exactly that! It's something I keep in mind should I start to fret about the size of the planetoid on my shoulders... lol

FWIW, yr head doesn't look big in yr avatar. :)

Thank you!  I think my biggest issue is that I live with my wife and look at her tiny little peanut head ALL DAY LONG.  I have learned that my sister, who is the same height as my wife has a much bigger head than my wife.  I'm learning so much about head sizes! LOL

She says that to counter the whole big head thing she just keeps her hair really long.  And her hair is SUPER long. This whole head thing has gone from something I was kinda bummed about to something kinda hilarious!  Some people have peanuts (like my wonderful wife) and some people have....ummmmm....Macy's Day Parade Floats!

When we draw super heroic guys we make the proportion of the head smaller- take a look a superman.  Normally nine heads high instead of seven and a half.  Space marines take this to the ridiculous extreme- often having a head twenty times the height in some drawings.  All relative babes!

Now me, I got wide shoulders.  I widen my head by adding volume to my hair at the sides.

I often make a point of drawing people with real proportions.  The super tall people in comics just bug me.

Adding volume....thats a good idea!  Thanks.
