Badsamaritan, short blunt bangs are stark and not every cis girl can pull them off.  They seem to frame your face in a way that accentuates your angular features.  I bet you'd still look like the before picture if you went with a side swept bang or pulled them up with a bobby pin.

Hey Ladies,

I started in the FFS forum since that is my next big concern, but I'm trying to venture out a bit from there. I would love to hear any opinions or suggestions. I'm 28 with 5 mos on HRT-

Here is one of my favorite pictures from about a month ago-

Here is from this morning on my way to the gym with no makeup or hair.

I know I still have a lot of male features left, but I'm hoping FFS (this Dec) and HRT will fix all of that.

The slight mustache shadow is the only thing I noticed.  Are you doing anything about that?  Otherwise, I see no major issues.

And are you planning to grow your hair out?  I'd kill to have a hairline like you!   :)

Katie,

The shadow is from my laser treatment. Just had my 6th one 2 days ago and it always looks bad for a few days after. In a few days it should be gone again and I still plan on doing another 4 treatments just to make sure nothing has a chance to grow.

I would kill to be able to grow my hair out, but unfortunately I can't because of my job situation. One day though. Until then I have to keep it short.  And thank you for the compliment. I plan on getting my hairline lowered soon.

I'm 5'7" and right now I weigh about 115 pounds. When I took the first picture I think I weighed 125 pounds.

I think the weight loss is giving you a severely angular face and a boney look and even 125 lbs is too light for a cis female with medium sized bone structure which should be more like 133 lbs and the weight for a genetic male at 5'7" should be around 145, you would probably be safe to take an average of both numbers and make that your targeted weight gain. Your current weight is very unhealthy. I'm not being critical just helpful and want you to be a healthy girl. If you're having an eating disorder get some professional help.

I do have problems with eating, but previous attempts to work with mental health professionals have gone badly and I don't have the resources to try again right now. Thanks for the advice.

Sometimes eating a meal at one sitting is too difficult for some, try and graze all day and into the evening and take in some healthy nourishing things, your weight will improve. I tend to be the other way, so I'd love to be able to split the difference with you.

You might get a photo with your glasses off and your hand out of the way because they obscure a lot of your features.

I'm forced to agree with Auntie Shan on this one. Your weight loss has given you an angular face. I'm thin too and I myself have to watch how much weight I lose, and, if I need to lose it has to be done healthily. That means eating right and exercise. Not starving myself. I have a very thin delicate bone structure and small frame so your current weight is actually right for me and close to what I weigh now. But I'm also only 5-5. Losing too much weight on hrt will hurt breast growth too, as well as fat redistribution. While I don't know if it will work for you. But I eat 6 small meals per day. If I tried to eat just 3 larger meals per day like most people I'll throw up losing everything. But if I break everything down into 6 small meals per day I seem to have no problem keeping everything. It's just a suggestion, nothing more. something you could look into.

I don't have any idea of what your ideal weight should be. I don't know your bone structure. But for an average female of 5-7 133 sounds about right. And 155 for a male of 5-7 sounds close.

I wish you my very best

It's been awhile since I've posted here. I've been trying to tackle my dysphoria with only therapy, styling and makeup thus far. I feel like I've made important progress mentally, but still don't feel content yet. I do enjoy the changes I see but feel like it's pretty obvious that I'm a guy still. I really don't get any feedback when I'm out so I have no idea whats up. I'm guess most people just see me as a feminine guy and living in a fairly liberal town nobody bats and eye and goes about their business. Could I be correct? I know I need to get better at beard cover up and keep letting my hair grow, being 35 and no HRT makes for slow going though...

Not my ideal clothing choices, but what I wore today, (Would rather wear this http://imgur.com/a/0wP4r)

I like the dress. As for your hair you could try using a flat iron to straighten it out a bit. Other products are available but I don't recommend them because of how harsh they are on your hair. A $20. flat iron should work nicely for you.

Best Wishes

I rarely get any replies but ima try one more time.

1½ month on HRT

I would say you would benefit from volume in your hair, bangs more femme accessories (glasses, earrings, etc.) and some make up. boom, sorted :-)

Agreed. Accessories are a must ie: bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and what Kira said about your hair. Your local salon should be able to help you out in that department. As for the glasses I've never needed them so it'd be hard for me to advise you there.

Best wishes

Glasses: Have a look at ones with coloured frames, or a pair with thicker arms

I don't knwo about make up... I usually advice it but you look very feminine natural so yeah it's up to you! Is it just me or your hair seem wet in the picture? Maybe when they are dry, then they look more volumized, if not just try some productsm for that, but definately more femme earing and glasses!

Hair is a big issue as i am balding on top. HRT seems to be fixing that but time will tell if ill ever get to a point where it's passable :(

So right now i wear a headscarf everytime i go out.

And makeup is not something i can afford right now sadly due to a lack of a job. wish i could, would love to experiment!

Thx for the feedback!

Have you tried a wig? Some of them are very nice and they're of good quality made of human hair. You could use it until your own hair comes back in thick enough. Just a thought.

I tried wigs before and they just made me feel even more fake inside.

1½ month on HRT and i think its starting to grow back. I know it'll never be back to what it  was pre-balding but ill see afterwards.

I've got some bad news...HRT can help a bit, but not usually when the hair loss has reached that stage.  Hair transplants may be an option for you, though.

But Ally's right, a wig is your best option.  There are plenty of trans girls who have to wear one.

In the same boat and hoping that my bald spots will recover.  I'm not holding my breath though: even after six months of minoxidil, finisteride and a couple of months of spiro, the recovery is as slow as the US economy.  :'(
