Well, I did mention in the 'what are you playing now...' thread.... But by the lack of replies I'm assuming not many real gamers are about there... (Mostly console... players.... I can't really bring myself to call them gamers xD)  .. .. .. (I'm up for a PC vs consoles debate thread if you wish... But a separate one... Don't divert from the subject pleaseeee this is just my opinon. :) )

So alas, I had to make a thread for it instead: Here's a linkage to my current library... I'm looking for anyone who's up for some PVP... I don't mind teaming up, co-op, or versus.. (Well, depending on the game..)

Here's my list :)

The phrase "real gamers" makes me want to brag about my neopets account, or the website that runs scrabble. I wish I had a smartphone so I could brag about Angry Birds or whatever.

I've never met anyone under 50 who is not a gamer of some sort. You  might need to specify the type of games you like.

I am if you count MMORPGs. I don't play much of anything else anymore.
April 22, 2015, the day of my first face to face pass in gender neutral clothes and no makeup. It may be months to the next one, but I'm good with that!

Being transgender is just a phase. It hardly ever starts before conception and always ends promptly at death.

The term "real gamer" is really subjective. That being said, I fit your description. I'm a PC gamer about 90% of the time. I mostly play old-school games, but I get a new game on Steam every once in a while.

Unfortunately I pretty much only play single-player games. I'm a loner like that, and I like it that way.  ;D

Because its genetic makeup is irregular, it quickly changes its form due to a variety of causes.

Something, something, defends console gamers. :P I go back and forth. For multiplayerism on PC I have Borderlands 2 and World of Tanks. I should get back to the Kerbal Space Program one of these days...

Used to play WoW back in the day when I worked night shifts, as there wasn't really much else to do, and others did too... Haven't really since.. I don't really have the time anymore to really make the monthly fees worth while and eh.. I'm yet to find an MMORPG with the same depth as far as lore goes that WoW does, and that's really what's most appealing to me... That and the landscapes.

Heh, fair dues.. I do prefer single player too, but have been feeling like doing some PvP lately... Talking about old games... Having a re-run of Secret of Monkey Island,  I really can't recommend the remake enough!

KSP is awesome :3 But I find myself watching gameplays more than actually playing on it honestly... (Mostly due to this guy: He can be quite offensive at times, I mean he does swear quite a bit, do be warned... But he makes up for it with charisma and how deep he gets into it as he plays, at least I find him funny. :)  )

Playing destiny atm

It'll come out for PC eventually.... Don't think you can play cross-platform though. :(

Idk if I would call myself a real gamer, but I do also have lots of the games on that list. I do all if my gaming on the PC as well. I have 51 steam games, 6 Origin titles, and probably like 20 titles that aren't part of a client even though those are mostly older (like NWN, NWN2, etc). For MMOs I play Eve Online, I have Secret World and a few others I can't remember the name of at the moment.

Right now I am working thru Dragon Age 2, and getting my PVP fix in Robocraft, Titanfall, and Eve Online. If anyone wants to add me on Steam or Origin PM me and I can give you my username.

I do a lot of gaming. I wouldn't call it casual, but I rarely play competitive multiplayer. (Not a huge fan of fps which seems to dominate that gameplay style)
I think my steam library has around 250 games and on GOG I have about 100. And I consider any titles I may once have owned through Origin dead to me...
I modified my laptop (350 GB ssd, i7, 32 GB RAM) to rig up an external graphics card with 4GB of ddr5 so I can still play games at the highest settings.

But like I said, I prefer non fps. Mostly RPG and RTS. I did play DOTA2 and StarCraft2 for awhile as well as WoW, Rift, EVE Online, Defiance, and Diablo 3. But the online stuff always for boring for me.

As I didn't get my "gaming" computer till college, don't get me started on my console/handheld collection lol.

So is that a 'real gamer'?

I play Dungeon & Dragons 3.5, and Pathfinder table top games the "real games" so don't go asking about real gamers when talking about video games.

Now if your a little insulted, good! Learn from it. No one likes to be challenged if they are a "real (fill in the blank)".  People play games then they are gamers. People skateboard then they are skaters. People feel like they don't conform to the gender binary then they are transgendered.
I find it insulting that you feel you can invalidate someone doing something they like because they do not meet "your" standards. If you want change then be change.

Sorry, all minesweeper here all the tiem ???

No offense but I cringe a little when I hear "real" gamers - walled gardens of tiers of players and who can be included in them really hurts the industry imo.

Staci, if that's the standard then I'm a very real gamer.  ;D

I play some PC games and have a rather large library, but I love my consoles as well and just got a PS4 so most of my games are headed that way, especially since I really dislike Origin and EA's insistence that I have to use it to play their games on my PC.  On the other side I do have a ton of Steam games, but for some reason I've decided that Steam is ok and Origin isn't.

*shrugs*

The other reason I'm angling for PS4 is that most of my friends when they get popular multiplayer games are on console and I end up all alone on PC for a few years until the GOTY or really cheap Steam sales come out and I'm kind of tired of that end of it.

I also play tabletop games. D&D, Pathfinder, Rifts, etc. :)

Depending what region you are at, I can play some League of Legend games with you. That's all I play now.

Oh, I do not feel insulted, that takes a lot of hard work :) Don't worry. I do play World of Darkness and tried out LoTR dice, pen, & paper games... But eh you can't really do that online so it's kinda out of the topic. In any case... As I stated I could be up debating this for hours...

I never quite liked 2... I loved Origins though... Hopefully Inquisition won't disappoint... I'm really looking forward to it... And that's quite a big library :D Could play on Steam sometime if we have any games in common. :P

Gotta love GOG! Yeah I think you are :) Honestly I didn't get my proper gaming PC up until 2010... I just built and upgraded an old rig (A pentium -75Mhz in 2004 x.x ) and played classics.. I think that's the reason I got into games in the first place, it was hard work to get them going and so satisfying to see when they could be (bearably) playable.... Oh such fond memories of Diablo and Civ 2, hehe... Ahh... I have tried to un-geek myself as much as possible lately though, when I play I play seriously, but I don't really get round the PC that much anymore, too busy RL.

And Solitaire! I still play them both... Occasionally, ha! Maybe, but the fact is there are many kind of 'types' and 'genres' of games... And certain 'types' and 'genres' are targeted at certain kinds of gamers... By 'real' I mean those who have been playing and grown up with a certain era of gaming for a while, and those who are used to playing in championships and tournaments.... They're who've been around the longest and have had the biggest influence, alas... My reasoning. :) This world is so subjective, I don't think there really is a right nor wrong to this question.

Yup been there... Kinda the reason I had a PS3 back in the day, I really don't hang out with guys that much lately alas I don't play that many games (No I'm not being sexist, but it's a given that most guys play games... And most of my friends don't. So.... Plus there's no way I could be sexist about this coz I'm admittedly a girl-gamer.) .... I never did get used to using thumbsticks x.x ... And yeah... Origins does suck... But I really couldn't play DA:O on a console... Well I did, I had the copy for the PS3 and for PC... And well, they're two completely different worlds all together as far as gameplay and graphics go... So I hadda stick to it :( Main reason I like Steam is Gaben, I think most people are the same.

Hey, I'm a 'real' gamer! I used to play TF2 and CS 1.6 competitively, but since i have work and school taking up so much time now I pretty much just play League of Legends and Borderlands 2.

If you wanna play NA League sometime add me, Smuffle, I'm Gold V in ranked solo queues but usually play with my friends who range from freaking Wood XX to Gold V with me. =]

Also, I run a Pathfinder game once a week, and even MORE NERDIER, I attend major tournaments for Warhammer 40K, that super fun tabletop miniature game where you build and paint little army men (or evil rainbow space elves in my case), so I totally get the non-video-gamer gamer thing. =P

Well shoot. Now everyone is mentioning their tabletop games to legitimatize their gamer status. I feel I have to mention that I'm also into games like that. My friends and I have a Pathfinder game going on periodically, and I'm loving it.

Hmm... since there are a few of us around in this thread already, maybe we could turn this request for online video game contacts into a request for a virtual tabletop group. Maybe it needs a thread of its own. I dunno.

Oooh! Yes, please! No one to play those with for years, it's why I got into MMOs. When I finally move to Florida I have some games waiting for me, though.

I actually feel bad about confirming this, since it feels like even more of a hijack, but I would absolutely, completely welcome this thread, and any games it might produce. I've always, always loved tabletops (World of Darkness, especially Mage and Vampire, more than DnD) more than any silly video game. :)

I want to go back to gaming when I got a job :D! Nowadays I just feel guilty if I am gaming because I should just search for a job.. or so .. > ___ <.

Does anyone here also record their videos :D? I would enjoy doing that xD.
:D Want to see me ramble, talk about experiences or explaining about gender dysphoria? :D
