Actually, I don't know how guys live with just a wallet. Just with rewards cards, gift cards, fuel cards, credit cards, debit/bank cards, etc. thats a lot of plastic to stick in such a dinky little scrap of leather. And then there's the little plastic keychain equivalents that have turned  keychains from something nice and orderly into a a wad of plastic with a metal ring core.

I don't know why but I find this a really interesting thread. If it were pants and shirts, I wouldn't think so.

You guys make laugh so much reading this. As someone stuck in the male world for 53 years, I find the simplicity of all of this so nice; one of the transition pieces I may never alter much.

Simply put, minimize the cards to daily needs, an AMEX, debit and VISA card, maybe one or two department store cards, license, and insurance card, wrap with cash and clip with a medium metal binder clip; slip in front pocket. In the car, apart from car keys and house/work keys, keep a separate ring with reward key ring gadgets. The three things in your pocket for daily needs, the "wallet", key ring with keys only, and cell phone. Minimization is a good thing. When I transition to a purse it will be because ladies jeans pockets are worthless, my purse will have the essentials only.

You will find a simpler way is a lot better, one of the things I don't really want to give up.

I do enjoy the simplicity. Walk out of the house and pretty much have nothing. Haven't found anything I miss, except pens. I find pens are not safe in the pocket as I end up washing them. I found a key chain pen, too bad it was not a good pen.

If I may, not all women's jeans are *completely* worthless, but the pocket size is smaller. I have to wear boy's jeans due to how short I am. They definitely look more fit on me. I suppose the clip and cards would work but I got an extra thin wallet (brand name "Smart", though as we discussed it's a brand name. LOL, but there are others. i had a lot of trouble with traditional leather wallets.) I have seen women do such things, kind of the minority but it is the case. Another problem you might have is women's jeans having belt loops or the belt loops being strong enoug to carry a key.

It's interesting that it's a gendered thing in our culture, but I have also seen guys with "murses". But then I suppose women end up caring for others a lot, so they seem to carry others stuff.

I've always used a male wallet. I started off with a little duct tape one I maid when I was like 14 then gradually moved up to quicksilver, dc, etnies, and now with my john deere wallet.

It's not exactly high fashion, but if I need to schlepp loads of crap with me I wear a bum bag. It's meant for carrying hiking/outdoors supplies, plenty of useful compartments, got it at a sporting goods store.

Ha. Until I read this thread I had no idea what people used those little pockets for. For me they were always a nuisance, trying to shove things in the other, hitting the little one, and my stuff not fitting.

I totally agree, and you inspiried me to get a new one yesterday.  So now, to complement my pink phone cover (it was a gift!) I now have a squarish "girl's" wallet in azure.  They don't clash, and if I wave them around in an emergency, people will definitely see me 

I used to have a trifold wallet that I totally loved. But I lost it 20 times and had it returned 19 times. Now I just carry whatever cards and cash that I plan to use, directly in my pocket.

I have actually enjoyed the convenience and security of a purse for this - pockets that don't zip lose cards and coins pretty easily. But alas, I will always prefer insecure pockets over insecure feelings.

But if there was a pool on favorite wallet style, I would definitely go for trifold. And front pocket, never back. Though that may be because I don't like drawing attention to my rear end.

Backpacks, dude. Love me some backpacks. Gender neutral, not just for kids, exactly as convenient as a purse without inducing hyperventilation every time you've gotta pop to Safeway or whatever.

Haha, yup I have definitely done the backpack thing too. I find it slightly less convenient than pockets or purses, probably because the bigger the amount of apace, the easier it is to fill it with a mass of disorganized clutter, thus making it impossible to find anything... but come to think of it, I don't think I've carried a backpack while binding before. I'll have to try that, since backpacks have been an issue for me due to rubbing up on/accentuating the chesticles.

My backpack has always been glued to me since childhood. I could never stand having things in my front pockets, so it would go down the road with me with just a wallet inside. Today my small little one strap backpack can fit enough to last me for 1 1/2 days

I always used to have small man sized wallets but in interesting colours. Now I've given up on having a seperate wallet and I just have a cover for my phone which has card slots in it.

I carry my bus card, eftpos card and driver's licence and that's it. If I'm going somewhere where I specifically need to carry more I take a messenger bag.

I've always carried bags, not specifically handbags but mostly gender neutral messenger bags or a laptop bag. It's just handy to always have a notebook, drink bottle, pen, screwdriver, cellotape etc with me.

As part of my final attempt to succeed at being a girl I did buy a handbag but I found it so annoying that it didn't have a shoulder strap.
