Just FYI I have put a picture of me where I have a beard in there and it gendered female...

A female can't have a beard? Dammit I better shave... :o
lol

But yeah, that program will still gender me female when I have face hair. However it genders my brother Male EVERY time face hair or not. I bet if we put fake beards on cis girls it would still see them as female. It is using measurements of cheeks and eyes and mouth distance and stuff to determine. It is like the glasses/sunglasses thing. Sometimes if the picture is dark it can think eye makeup is glasses.

Are you referring to pictriev or rekognition? I assume the latter since you mentioned glasses?

Hi All,

DISCLAIMER: I do not work for either Pictriev or Rokog, I only researched them for use in implementation of computer vision recognition systems for companies I work for. Both have privacy pages that have an agreement you "sign" into by uploading images, you should read those.

http://www.pictriev.com
https://rekognition.com/index.php/demo/face

Pictriev is a gimmick or toy, comparing you to celebs and Rekog uses actual openCV and algorithms that government, commercial and private agencies use for tracking of humans. Rekog has a SDK and you can embed it in your own code to build face recognition into your own applications. You have access to a bunch of statistics about the image, many of which have a decent accuracy rate. Many companies use it to track shoppers, emotional reaction to ads or displays, employee tracking, facial security login areas and a bunch of advanced stuff that would probably make you feel sick. The government uses it in terrorist tracking, airport security, street cam tracking, and a bunch of advanced stuff that again would make you sick. I read someplace about movie theaters using the emotional tracking of the faces in the crowd to help directors determine how the sequels should be written in order to keep an audience captivated in a planned series.

Beards cause problems for ALL face rec systems even the ones deployed by our governments / military . You can search many articles on that in the news. This makes terrorist hunting harder.

Note: Computers can be tricked. Computers don't care what gender or race you are or if you are happy they only report what they determine from visual analysis. If a computer thinks you look male or female that DOES NOT mean that a human would determine the same results. So never just rely on what a face recognition system says, get human input.

Their are some makeup tricks you can do where these systems, even the advanced ones will not even recognize you as a face and therefore not track you. Look it up in the news they talked about it a bit last year. Its fun.

Pictriev sometimes will see me as 11 year old male that is a cross between Ozzy Osbourne and Emma Watson. I put in celeb picts and even those are not accurate. I even uploaded the same pictures at different times and got very different results. The age result is very inaccurate consistently. When I upload a combined photo of faces the algorithm only finds 30% of the faces in the photo. The gender results are all over the map, even when uploading the exact photo as before I can get different results.

Rekog sees me as female most of the time. As do other high end computer vision recognition systems. The age rates me younger than my actual age by about 10 years. (thats nice). I have tested lots of photos of others and the Age on Rekog is pretty close. When I put in older pictures of me in my 20s many are rated male and the age is right on target. When uploading a combined photo of many faces Rekog sees most of the faces. Uploading the same image at a different time is 98% identical results. The gender results hardly ever differ when the same image is used.

Important Note, Rekog may be learning! I may have submitted enough pictures of myself that even on a day where I look bad (scruffy) rekog says I look female, it may be comparing me to its earlier results? / images of me.

I have been very interested and involved in computer vision systems since I was a kid in the 80s, we have advanced by leaps in just the past few years and in the future every physical space in the real world will be being analyzed within the cyber world in real time. Computers already predict traffic/crime patterns, track suspects, follow persons of interest on all our major streets and public transport systems. We are being bombarded by WiFi that can also be used like radar in order to track detail 3d images of inside our homes and businesses. Tons of people carry around a device that shows their exact location, the position of the device, sounds and images around it, etc. Eventually, if not already.. governments will have the computer capability to track all of this info on computers and zoom in realtime into a location and evaluate what is happening at that location, even in private areas. Computers could alert to potential problems. Sure call me paranoid, I don't care... I just know what computers and savvy tech people can do with lots of government contractor money.

Use Pictriev and Rekog at your own discretion and remember that its just a computer algorithm, a real humans input is always good.

Love,
Jade

Not on HRT and such looks.. lucky bast.. lucky you :D!

You look great ^^. We are almost as tall, gosh, don't try to lower it. You are 6.1ft now be proud on it D: Then again whenever I mention my height I always wish I was shorter, but when I see other tall ladies I am jealous. Makes sense! Anyhows I agree with Seras, I think you can do a lot more with your hair and I am not sure whyyy.. but your glasses make you lean more to androgynous? They are not (from what I see) a male version of glasses or something but, I .. I don't know.. maybe I am just not a fan of glasses and rather stay blind (I also need them myself =/).

But you look great no worries ^^.
:D Want to see me ramble, talk about experiences or explaining about gender dysphoria? :D

Hi all...
Been resisting, apart from an early fling in this thread... but now, I must ask, as I came out to a close, fully transitioned MTF, friend on Monday... was good to open up at last, but also based on some advice I have decided I must ask the same question now. As I need to fulfil my desires, after some many years of trying to hide, I need to transition by end of next year, so I need key things visually to focus on. I also intend to seek professional voice training.

Please be frank in your comments...

1) Straight on Limited Eye and Lips makeup

2) Straight on no makeup

3) Side on no makeup

4)Side angle on no makeup

In no chronological order but all in last 8 months

FWIW, I see brow line, beard shadow, "Adam's apple"...
So sorry to fill up with 4 pic's

Discord, I'm howlin' at the moon
And sleepin' in the middle of a summer afternoon
Discord, whatever did we do
To make you take our world away?

Discord, are we your prey alone,
Or are we just a stepping stone for taking back the throne?
Discord, we won't take it anymore
So take your tyranny away!

Interestingly I tried Pictreiv...

Got varied results, some I thought looked more fem than others got male results, some I figured were more male got 90% or better, with just mascara and lippie I scored better than 90% female... yay amazing  ::) Also the more defined the photo the more consistent was the fem % results... got some comfort in public passing from that... what I do notice is if I am not smiling my face looks a lot harder, maybe worried, but quite masculine...

Hi yuui! You look pretty good actually, and have some nice curves.

The facial hair in the last pic gives you away a bit but that is easily taken care of.

There is a great chance that you could pass.  You are young and you have good features. I think hormones will work great for you!

Yuui, you more than pass, you are stunning. I actually had to stop for a doubletake because that first picture looks identical to a good cis college friend of mine when she was younger.

I do suggest you ditch those glasses though. Go with contacts/no glasses...or if you are like me and can't do either, find some smaller, colored and "petite" frames instead of those. They are just too "strong" right now and change the focus on your face.

But otherwise, looks...you are there hun. You beyond pass there. Hopefully the attitude and mannerisms are just as femme. HRT don't even need to do much to you.

Just my 2 cents

You definitely pass now.  Your body is really female and that speaks volumes considering you haven't started HRT.

Hi everyone, after my attack a few months ago by that group of males. I decide not to post pictures anymore. However today I weighted myself and in the last 8 months I have dropped 28kg (61.7lbs) with another 17kg (37lbs) to go. I am very bulky in size still due to depression and living on junk food, so I still retain a VERY ugly guy body with tons of fat and muscle everywhere. Although I figure if I can just keep dropping weight slowly with not eating junk food I will get there in another 4-5 months.

  • I am now in my mid thirties
  • Pre everything
  • 93.4kg (205 lbs)
  • I can not do eyebrows or anything yet as I work everyday in a male role

First what I looked like 6 months ago -this picture makes my heart stop and causes huge pain-, but I want to be realistic here, so here is 6 months ago.

This is 28kg (61.7lbs) later in guy mode today, which is 99.99999% of the day as I work with violent males as a therapist right now so it could be dangerous!

So be very honest and give advice.

A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting
