Turns out my chargers work just fine without any adapters so I am very pleased ^^

I am at the cottages right now, it's hot as hell outside. I went to the local 7/11 to get some food for tonight and for the start of the liquid diet tomorrow. I think I'm gonna cook some tomato soup, as long as I can find/read the ingredients.

I wish I knew how to make the TV english xD

Blackponyx, I am also checking out for the surgery. Sure you could store your luggage in my room, no problem ^^
Don't know about sharing a room, I like my privacy sometimes but if it's cheaper then we'll talk xD You'll have my company here anyway as long as you're at the Rama. There's also an adorable black cat wandering around the place if it's not enough xD

Hope your flight was accommodating. Yes, it is hot there so always have the a/c on but I'd say keep the a/c off when dilating, it's easier to get your muscles to relax when you are allowed to dilate.

Hope you we're able to stock up on food and drinks. But on your laxatives day make sure you keep it on a no pulp liquid and CLEAR soup diet 3 days before your surgery. Make sure to follow those instructions because Dr Chettawut warned me that my surgery will be postponed if I didn't follow.

There's cats all over there lol. Just don't touch them as I wasn't sure if they held any diseases and such.

And you can also order room service from 5pm to 11pm. I don't know if you have breakfast included in your hotel stay after the surgery but it was OK when I stayed there. The breakfast would consist of eggs, sausage, and ham with watermelon and papaya or pineapple with 3 toast and milk and juice. Sometime the breakfast they'd bring is all except the eggs, ham, and sausage and instead would be a rice soup with meats or fish. Oh and DO NOT drink or cook with the kitchen water faucet. Always use a water bottle because the water is not safe to drink but you could take a shower with it.

Well good luck Ivy! And tell Ms. Sri, Ms Som, and the other nurses I said hi. They are very kind people and will take excellent care of you :)

I only stocked up for tonight and for the following days, since I'll be checking out for the surgery and I'm not sure what it'd do with all the food then. I got my room without breakfast.

The sink water is not ok even if I boil it?

Oh crap, the minute I saw the cat I dropped my bags and ran up to pet it xD They're just so adorable, and they rub up on you so nice ^^

Also, there are tiny little ant-like bugs walking all over my bed. They're not ants, just very tiny look-alikes. Is this normal or should I ask for a different room? Can't say I'm a fan.

Thank you so much <3

On room sharing: it's fine. I just thought it would be a nice stay with a companion for my (less than 2 weeks) stay. Ahhh, see that's the thing, the whole check out for the clinic then check back in thing is not very nice. How would you be able to stock AFTER your surgery? You will only be allowed to move out of hotel after ~10 days!

- People generally drink from mineral water. I don't encourage boiling tap water.
-Change the room. Those could be bed bugs.

I also wanted to ask - was there any 'confirmation' given by Som/the clinic say, 3 days before the hotel? Or can I assume my stay at the hotel is guaranteed and they would expect me to check in on the day I told Som?

EDIT: Just checked - the rate is the same (1100baht for breakfast, 1060baht without) per night for either 1 or 2 persons. So effectively, costs are halved for days where we have both in the room (i.e. 12-15, 19-31) You are leaving on 29th so I can pay for the remaining nights as 1 pax. It's not a lot of savings, maybe about $200 -$300. ^.^

Thanks :)

@blackponyx

PM me your skype or something so we can talk ^^ After today I actually think I'd like some companion xD And any kinda saving is a good saving ;D You think you could help me with post-op grocery stocking? I'll be back at the Rama December 9th, I can stock up on things until you'd get here ;P
I will be paying for the hotel with my credit card, the money on it though is in PLN ( polish currency ), so I'm curious to see how much my bank will screw me over for.

So I just got back from my consulation with dr. Chet. They're all so nice it's kinda awkward o.o I will be needing a skin graft, as I thought. What surprised me though is, they're keeping the original letters so that's another problem I'll have to deal with after getting back to Poland. They said if I went to my doctors and got them to re-write the letters then send it to the clinic, they will send the original originals ( lol ) back to me. I don't think it will be a problem, it's just the time issue again. I wish the polish court wasn't so technical about everything, they even said to me when I was taking out the original letters from court documentation that I didn't need to include them in the first place, well thanks to them for the late notice :P
The dilation everyday 3 times a day for 2 years is not exactly a joyful perspetive, but what you gonna do. From what I've read on the forums everyone is kinda able to adjust their schedule to their body, so hopefully I could do 2 times a day after a while.

Hmm what else. Oh it's a good thing it's so hot here, I'm not even hungry. So liquid diet hasn't been a problem so far, it's only 11am though xD

@blackponyx

oh and about hotel booking, I got an email from them that they would send confirmation about the booking while I was already in my hotel room xD

but you'll get your hotel booking confirmation letter in the welcome envelope that you will be given by dr. Chet's driver so doon't worry ^^ they won't have you fly over here with nowhere to stay.

@Poison_Ivy

Ok, will PM you. And yes, exactly what I thought, any saving is good. $200 is not a lot but can settle for grocery, so why not?

I will be there on 12th evening, so that's the earliest I can help you with grocery stocking. And would be happy to help.

I prepared cash (Thai baht) but am ready to pay by card too (eg. if i need graft, etc etc)

If you pay by your credit card, pay it in the local currency (i.e. baht). At least for my country, you only get charged the exchange rate the bank uses (Which may be good or bad) but there is NO additional ''admin charge'' for the transaction because payment was done in 'local' currency.

For the letters, I'm not sure but my guess is - get the original psychiatrist to 're-print' the letters. I'm guessing there will be charges. For my 2 psychiatrists, I have 2 original copies for one of them, and only 1 copy for the 2nd doctor.

But in my country, it's less troublesome i guess. I only need the SRS letter to officially change my gender on ID.

Talk to you soon.

Well my bank is kind of problematic, there is no way I can pay for the hotel in Baht, and it was kind of problematic to predict what the final charge would be, so I just figured I'd bring my card with lots of PLN on it and let the card terminal thingie do the magic.
I hope the card works though and the exchange will be succesful, otherwise I have no way of paying for the hotel maybe other than a wiretransfer with USD o.o
I have more than enough PLN on my account and they keep coming from my paypal account xD

Yea, Not even boil the faucet water. Don't do it, don't risk it. My whole time there, I only took advantage of using the bottled waters. And if there are many ants there, do change rooms or have the cleaning ladys clean your room. I had ants but not all over so yea I would suggest having them change you to another room or clean up your room. I guess you can pet the cats but make sure to wash your hands lol.

Oh crap umm if you're checking out hmmm, I'd say get to know some girls around there because there are a few girls who just got their surgery or is about to and they may have been there longer and more capable of going to the market or store nearby to get you things. Because trust me, after surgery, you won't be capable of doing amuch "Far" walking or even going out of the hotel. I repeat, you will probably get hot flashes, faint, or blackout if you do. I traveled alone and I regret it so much that I didn't stock up. I got so hungry and tried so hard to resist ordering room service and tried to take off breakfast for my hotel stay but came to realize that it was necessary and that I need food to fuel my energy and give me nutrients to get better with my healing as well as getting as much rest as you can.

Oh well, I'm not one to risk things so I'll stick to bottled water. First day of liquid diet is going well so far, last time I ate was about 3am last night and today all I've had was grape juice and canned coffee. It's so hot, basically all I wanna do is drink. I'm not even craving normal food so far, on the contrary I feel rather bloated :o

Housekeeping sprayed my room for bugs and they haven't shown since.

I have some leftover snacks ( nuts mostly and some instant soups ), that I'll keep for the few days post-op. Unfortunately I have some sandwiches from back home I'll have to throw out, and some things I bought here that will have to go as well :c i went a little crazy snack shopping yesterday xD fortunately there's not a lot, i'll miss the bread and sasuage ham because it was delicious :c but i dont know what ill do with it after checking out xD

The liquid diet seriously isn't that bad ^^ I'm not even hungry, and I'm a big foodie.

You'll just need to last with liquid diet until 3 days after you get released from the hospital recovery and back into your hotel room recovery. Ask the nurses to make sure when you are allowed to eat solid foods.

Since you're checking out on the day of surgery, keep the preserved foods like snacks and such and throw away Amy food that'll expire. I would suggest if you want, adding breakfast or sometimes buying room service if you think you have extra money for it but if not then it's fine just make sure you eat something with protein and nutrients like fish and eggs.

You'll pretty much be weak the whole recovery in Thailand and possibly at home until you're able to take hormones again but make sure you book a gynecologist to find out Wether to take a lower dosage rather than the normal dosage you usually take because your body will not have any hormones whatsoever after surgery and you'll feel weak like an old lady with hot flashes, dizziness, and nausea.

Did you go in for your consultation already?

After surgery they'll give you more papers with instructions and your dilating regime. But don't follow the dilating regime exactly. It's just a guideline. You can move to next dilator when you're ready.

That's what I also figured with the food. I'm gonna get this delicious ham and bread again post-op, it was heaven. I also saw Domino's Pizza while on my way to Dr. Chet's so I'll investigate further.

I'll be seeing my sexologist/gyno back in Poland, although he is in another city so I will get a local one as well for emergencies.

I had my consultation already, they also gave me a menu of what I'll be given to eat during recovery. Not too bad.

Well, my surgery is in a few hours from now. I don't know how I feel at this point, I've just been making it work as I go so far. I'm afraid of the pain and the difficulty afterwards. There's still so much I have to do regarding the whole transition thing, after I go back home. I hope I'm mobile enough by then to handle it. It's not the end for me :/ I know I've probably had it easier than most of you, and I was extremely lucky in this whole misfortune anyway, and I've got a shot at a fully normal/stealthy life. I'm greatful for that. But it's not the end yet :/
I wish I didn't have to do this, but that's not how life turned out for me.

All the best luck and recovery! Don't worry, I'm watching your thread very closely. I've gone through the same you're going through as well as the having it lucky part. For the next 2 months after this surgery, you are still gonna be weak but then again maybe you'll recover faster than I did. Don't exert yourself and be careful. Take care of your self and limit yourself. When you get the chance to reply, tell us how you're doing. We're here to also help aside from the major people (nurses, surgeon) to help you.

Hi! So the surgery went fine, there's only slight pain and discomfort down there, I also threw up a few times from the anaesthesia. But honestly I feel fine, aside for the slight pain. I wish I could have pizza, I already told Som I need a big fat juicy pizza from Domino's when I'm back xD
At first I was throwing up and I was dizzy, couldnt even see the hour on the clock in front of me. And everthing is itching.

Congrats!!! The throwing up is normal as well as the discomfort and itching. DO NOT itch! I did that and now there's a dark scratch mark there. I gated the first hour out of surgery, everything was spinning and I couldn't see straight so I slept throughout the whole time.

For the next 5 days you'll be eating clear liquid doups, taking more pills, throwing up, sleeping, and getting taken care by the great nurses.

Once on the 5th day when they send you back to the hotel, since you don't have any estrogen in your blood which I suggest you take ONLY after you get back home. You'll feel weak, immobile, and dizzy but make sure you take antibiotics. It's very important so you don't get a uti infection or any infection which is the worst feeling ever.

Donna Elvira

Hi there, young Polish lady!
Congratulations on seeing it through and my very best wishes for a trouble free and speedy recovery. A Chett girl myself, like Jojo, I strongly advise that you go with the flow and adhere to the instructions you are given re. medication, dilations and giving yourself time to recover.  I (mostly) did and, even if we are all different, I can attest to the fact that I had zero problems through my recovery. I was operated on the 20th August and haven't seen a doctor since getting home...

One of the exceptions I would see to following the instructions regard HRT. Because of hot flashes and generally feeling so crap I couldn't sleep, I went back to a low dose of E (only) just a little over a week after my surgery. I felt much better after that and the end of my stay in Bangkok was a breeze, feeling more like a holiday than anything else.

The other exception regards the dilation regime. For the first few weeks I would definitely advise that you do as instructed but, as you heal, you will find your own way. For example, I quickly switched to 2 dilations a day as 3 times was making it very difficult to get anything done. I also added bigger dilators to the one's provider by Chett, the Soul Source N° 3 & 4 dilators which are what I am using now. These add an extra 6mm in diameter compared to Chett's biggest dilator which is still pretty small.

You will have plenty of time for all of that over the weeks ahead but since I'm no longer here very much, I thought it was best to get it out now.

Again, wishing you all the best!
Donna
