Let me try.  This is from right now and is pre everything.  And I know my neck is still too big  >:( .  I'm 55 and just got my therapist's approval for HRT this week.

I second that you look like lovely 55 year old lady! :D And HRT will make you look even better I'm sure!

I posted these pics in the "fabulous" thread, but I thought I'd be daring and see what others think in this particular thread.. I'm pre-hrt and pre-any hair removal things, but have been presenting as female whenever I'm in public.. I don't do any shaving on my face if I don't have to (like when I'm home) because it really takes a toll on my skin..  :'(

They may be too "flattering" to be a real gauge of my passibillity but here they are! :D

You're a pass from me  ;)

You've got Zooey Deschanel hair. If people don't already tell you that, get used to hearing it.

I like Zooey. She's super cute. :-)

Hi:  I'm a csi genetic girl, reading the forums in order learn as much as I can to support a MtF friend who has been on HRT for the last 6 months after 40 years of being stuck in a man's body. I noticed this thread was mostly trans women offering opinions on passing.  I don't know if anyone would be interested in the opinions or input from a csi girl, but I'd be happy to offer respectful, helpful opinions/advice from the perspective of a gg or even answer questions.  Which may or may not be welcome, idk.  Sadly, many csi girls only care what "men" think of their looks so maybe many of you have more useful opinions than I do, at least the trans-women who identify as lesbian/find women sexually attractive.

I only decided to post after weeks of reading because I thought the difference of opinions in some cases was interesting.  It seems some GID /transwomen seemed conflate passing with sex appeal, whereas as a straight girl I don't look at the "sex appeal" aspect just what I see as female or feminine. (which isn't ultra-femme or girly).

I've found it very interesting in some threads here where pre-HRT transwomen are questioning whether they can transition or not based entirely on a fear of being "ugly" or not fitting the criteria of a woman.  It's a terrible reality that women, far more than men, get judged on their looks so making the jump can be scary if you want to fit the definition of a "woman" that men (both straight and gay) have created in the media and popular culture. Funny that so much of what is a "woman" or what is "feminine beauty" isn't defined by us, but by men.

If my input isn't welcome and this is a trans only thread I TOTALLY understand and will not make a peep. I've just been learning so much and find you all so amazing and courageous that I wanted to try and offer something useful back. I'd be proud to call any of you one of my sisters and all of you are beautiful in your own way.

P.S. Please correct me if I use incorrect pro-nouns or labels, I'm learning as much as I can and always want to be respectful but I'm sure I'll make mistakes and the last thing I want to do is offend or hurt anyone's feelings.

It is good to see you supporting your friend.   Me I always open to a new point of view.  For me knowledge is power and with power you can do anything you set your mind too.  As a mtf  l always open to the insight that any woman can give.

Kira, you look great!  FFS will come in time if you wish to pursue it, but for now you look radiant and a wonderful, happy smile exudes that!  :D

Hi Mirna.  I can't speak for others but I would love having your honest opinion.  I think I alternate between one day being way to negative on myself and the next being maybe too optimistic so the thoughts of others is always valued.

So, I'm four months in on HRT, waiting for my hair to grow out. Do you think I'll lose that masculine look to my face? Do you think I'm a good candidate for FFS or do you think I'll be fine on HRT?

  •

LadyoftheRockies

Kira, I don't think you need FFS. How long have you been on HRT?

Lady,

You'll be fine without it, I think. Nothing about your face screams masculine to me, and you're still really early on. Already, I think the femininity is overpowering whatever masculinity is there. New glasses and additional hair length will go a long way toward framing your face in a flattering way.

Cheers,
Tegan
