I believe nothing of value to stories like this news jumping from tabloid to tabloid to gosip to gosip

I just see it as making a joke out of the whole real life process we handle.

When he/she/they come out then its news worthy. Till then my cat knows more what's going on.

I've heard the Brigitte rumor through the grapevine.   I won't believe it until I see it though.

I've heard the TV show rumors from industry sources (I work for a TV station). I guess it's plausible but it isn't confirmed until She comes out and says it.

First of all, good for her!  I was talking with a friend last night who is also transitioning in her early 60's.  Lots of life still left to live...might as well be happy finally.

Hopefully it'll be a good TV interview where she gets to come out and tell her story without any fake drama intended to pump up the ratings.  I have to admit I'm a little nervous about it though, the Kardashians aren't known for their class and dignity.

He has said over and over that he's a man though, and explained away his plastic surgeries, saying they have nothing to do with his gender orientation.  I'm not saying there aren't (kind of obvious?) signs to the contrary, but until he says otherwise, I think we should believe him.  All people should have a right to experiment with gender if they feel like it, and maybe that's all he has been doing.

Most of us go through some sort of denial before coming out.  So I can understand this.

This scares me as well.  It would be generate a lot of ratings, and she'd get a very healthy paycheck, but it would be very damaging to our community.  Once again...we'd be the ones who lose.

I mean, I wouldn't be surprised, but until he does, I just don't know about making presumptions.  Like, as of this moment, time and time again he's said he isn't trans and has never once said otherwise.

But yeah, if I was a public figure facing transition I would have denied denied denied till I was ready to tell people on my own terms, and I wouldn't have wanted people speculating about me.  I also would not transition publicly.  That first year is so so rough y'all, and omg I was so awkward.

I always thought if we weren't sure,  it was proper etiquette (here) to use gender neutral terms? I used she earlier, because the presentation looks feminine to me. I think it's more appropriate than using "he" in this instance.  Thoughts?

Ugh.  I don't even know.  I agree if we don't know, gender neutral probably is best, but in this case they have denied being trans and that is the only public position they have taken.  I am not going out of my way to use masculine pronouns, and it will feel bad in retrospect if they do come out, but I just don't know what to do, honestly.  You're right, gender neutral is probably better for now, just because they have stopped going out of their way to deny it recently.  But at the same time, shouldn't we take people at their word till they say otherwise?  Idk..

Gender neutral always works, though. If someone doesn't like being called they, it's on them. See what I did there?

Lana Wachowski was a good example of how to be famous and transition: just stay quiet and come out on your own terms. No spectacle, no circus. I admire how she handled things.

Ouch. People don't need our approval to become part of this community. The community won't lose anything, we gain a new voice. Saying that any transgender person damages the community is awful and exclusionary.

Lana Wachowski is awesome!  Have you all seen her acceptance speech for the HRC visibility award?  It's really inspiring...definitely worth watching!
