Don't even worry about the vocabulary; your cadence and tone sounds like that of a gay guy, which I totally get.  It took me ages to shake that!  It can be done though...you need to work on softening your voice.  Do that and you're going to be fine.
My gender problem isn't half as bad as society's.  Although mine is still pretty bad.

It's been years since I've been to this site with any regularity.  Life and denial got in the way, but I'm finally moving forward. :)

The pictures below are my starting point.  I'd like to get an idea of what I need to do to complete my look.  I own no makeup (I'm not wearing any either), so if there are any recommendations for makeup, please give me specifics on what you think I need.

That is my natural hair, but I'm clueless what to do with it.

Suggestions welcome!

You actually have potential. I'm a makeup artist and I've mastered the art of makeup. Even after my transition, I'll wear a boatload of makeup lol.. But look into contouring, it'll be your new bestFriend. Especially the nose , it's the most masculine feature of your face, also I'd thin the brows out a bit or reshape them. Lol

Your face does have a lot of potential, but just one little thing...  I totally get where you're coming from, but now that you're going through with transition, you might want to start unlearning words like "fish" and "fishy."  At least outside of drag circles.  It has a tendency to rub certain people the wrong way, and I've never, ever heard a biological female use that word.  Except maybe Michelle Visage, but who the hell knows what she is?

Lol thank you ! It is a habit! I can admit, I'll need to stop it big time! I barely come out about this literally 3 days ago.. It'll take time lol. Thanks tho! I'll keep all that in mind. :)

Oh yes! Now that's going to be hard! Me and my bestFriend were literally talking about that .. Hopefully hormones helps out.. Btw what does hrt mean? I'm very very new to this all..

Hormone replacement therapy.  And no, estrogen will not affect your voice.  Practice is the only solution.  Surgery also exists to correct your pitch, but it's often unnecessary with enough training, and won't change your cadence or inflection anyhow.

thank you all for your kind words in earlier posts, and I hope I am not pestering you with my posts.
I just wanted to show a picture of me going for androgynous presentation:

any idea if I could pull off being female in the future?
I hope to start hormone therapy soon, but i thought this might make me feel better.
Thank you very much,
-MortifiedPenguin

You look great MortifiedPenuin.  I think you are really over worrying.  you look fantastic and I am sure you would make a great looking woman.  You are much better looking than me with already much better bone structure, forehead, nose etc...  I wish I had your face LOL   ;)

Someone here mentioned that I needed to post more photos for them to get a good idea of how I look.  I figured I should probably post some photos of me that aren't so flattering.  Like all of us, I look ok from certain angles-but here are some photos of what I look like when I'm not trying to make sure the camera is at the correct angle.  Passing is very, very important to me.  Why am I not doing it?  Is it the way I dress?  Do I need ffs?  Or, is it something I can't change, like my hair or my frame?  Please, please be brutally honest.  I do not need encouragement.  If I'm not going to be able to pull it off, please tell me while there's still time for me to plan my detransition before I graduate from collage.

The first two are a front and profile of me in crappy lighting without makeup, without doing my hair, or anything.

And, this one is just me in what I wore to the mall yesterday, in full makeup.  Yeah, my hair is a mess...it's always like this.  People were staring at me left and right yesterday, I'm sure I was being clocked a lot of the time.

So, honestly-I've been on hrt for two years.  Am I ever going to be able to really, actually pass 100%?

You look fantastic painter.  You look very chic!  I love your hair,  i am sure the looks you were getting were looks of appreciation of how good looking you are or jealousy at your hair of something from the girls.  You look a bit like a girl I went to university with.

:D

I got buried before I could get any feedback, so I'm cutting back to the front of the line.

The rest are from about a week ago.

Just looking through some of the old posts.  I really like your clothes your wearing Teg.  I think you have a good fashion sense.  I really like the trousers and the shoes with that top looks super.  What sort of pants are those i need to get something similar I think.

Also, the pictures your posing look really good too!

sorry the other pictures got lost in quoting your old post

Gosh Joanne,

You are spoiling me with attention!

Thank you very much for the compliments; they are most welcome, and quite beneficial to the confidence. The top was a random find that I got at a store near the beach when my friend Julie Blair came to visit. The choker is from H&M, and I love it. In fact, I'm wearing it right now, in guy mode. (I know, I'm kind of pushing it.) The shoes, I believe, are simple ballet flats from American Eagle, though I bought them from eBay early in my questioning.

I remember this day. I didn't intend to get dressed up. The flats have become my around the house shoes, my comfy house slippers. Anyway, I decided to try on the shirt, and I liked how it looked. Add a choker and lipstick, and you have an impromptu photo shoot, LOL.

The pants are actually the same ones I went to work in. They're guy pants, from the men's section of Hot Topic. The brand is Rude, and the fit is Slim Straight Leg. They kind of fit me like high waters or capris these days.

Anyway, thank you for all your encouragement. Feel free to PM me if you'd like to chat.

Cheers,
Teg

Whelp, I was about to type "wrong thread, there's a separate one for trans masc folks", so I'd say you're off to a pretty good start.

Passing is harder than looking androgynous, it requires a different set of "skills".  But yeah...you're doing pretty well.

You look like a lovely and trendy young girl. Your photos remind me of punk rock style, which means that you can easily attract people's eyes. If you do not want to enjoy people's attention, then you may try rather plain clothes and hair styles of girls.

barbie~~
Just do it.

Can't post pictures yet, but I'm always told that I'm very fishy. I naturally have curves to my bone structure, not masculine or manly looking at all.. I haven't start any hormones, and I'm barely seeking therapy but we'll sorry for getting off subject, you can check out my Instagram @kingrymua___ or check out my youtube channel.. , I'm going to be blogging about my transitioning.. Thanks!

Ignore that woman you can use whatever vocabulary you like to, there are many trans women that do drag too... But yeah the make up is a bit too much, it makes it obvious and I don't think you can be stealth wearing so much make up... You should definitely start therapy first! I love your youtube channel, I made one too, I think it's great that more trans women are starting to document their transition.

I'm pre everything. Just looking for opinions on femininity and future possibilities.

I wear makeup when I can but not all the time because I'm not out yet and obviously my hair is very short.

Don't even get me started on those forehead wrinkles  :P

I think that hair style suits you, it's very pretty indeed. However, to dispell your doubts: hrt hardly affects ones facial hair; going off of it can hardly do anything but make it less soft, and you just can't grow an Adam's apple overnight :)
I think these are just your apprehensions, it happens especially when one goes off hrt, which makes a big psychological impact, so doubt just crowd up - I've been there.
FWIW, I've seen your videos and posts here and I think you pass about 90%. Maybe even 100% but it's hard to judge with makeup on.

Kind regards, Vanya.

P.S. Notify me if you want me to unquote your picture.
