If you look online there is a video of a guy who fried bacon on the barrel of his rifle.

Also for $220... The hi-point 995ts! Ugly but rugged. And legal in MA! I may be contemplating saving my pennies...

Eh. Not a fan. But it's cheap. I would rather save up the money and buy a new or used Glock, and I'm not a Glock fan either but it does the job.

I think I just got a little excited!

Korean M1 Garands are going to be imported by dealers soon, and here's the really good part - they will be priced as low as $220!

Wow!!!
Well I got fooled, that was a big gigantic hoax.

I never thought of this until I found this thread, but I bought an NFA controlled firearm 15 years ago ( what that is is described here if you are unfamiliar) https://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/national-firearms-act-firearms.html#nfa-firearms
I went thru all the paperwork and background checks, fingerprints etc and the tax stamp form has my picture. How would all that be affected if I transitioned? Wow.

I don't know. I am guessing you'd need to amend it with the ATF. I can't imagine it would be uncommon, since married women own NFA items too.

On an unrelated note, I have several US patents that I am listed as the inventor on, however, no one at my job knows this since they are in my old name :( It doesn't seem like names on patents are changeable and something I had to forgo when I transitioned.

So what kind of nifty NFA item did you get? Short barreled rifle? Short barrel shotgun? Machine gun? Silencer? Inquiring minds want to know :-p

Sounds a lot like Lynn Conway. She lost credit for her previous work because she went stealth after being fired from IBM for transitioning.

I bought a 9 mm sub mg. I really don't want to be more specific than that. Totally fun to shoot. It draws a lot of interest at any gun range, which gives me a chance to educate people on owning full auto weapons legally.
Value wise, it's more than doubled in value since I bought it.. MG's are a great investment.
And old friend of mine had a M60 he bought in the 70's for $1000 (ish). He sold it six months ago for $38000.

One I am interested in and considering for concealment is: http://www.deneadams.com/

I love it!
I have a Taurus PT111 9mm that would fit wonderfully in that corset.

I suspect it is more of an American thing to collect an arsenal of weapons.  Personally i prefer swords and axes.

Don't bring a sword to a gun fight  ;) In all seriousness though, when I took my concealed carry training, one thing they told me is that if I carry a gun then don't bother with a knife because I would be 8 times more likely to go to prison for using a knife than I would if I had used a gun. Seriously, this is direct from the mouth of the people who train cops at the police academy.

From what I have read and it may be hear say or prima facie, but the mere possession of a weapon has prevented a great many crimes without a shot being fired. Sometimes the idea that a criminal upon selecting a victim unwittingly selects an armed citizen who produces a weapon the criminal flees without a shot being fired. That would be my hopes and dreams if it ever came to my being the chosen victim and I would venture to say nearly all other armed citizens like myself in my country.

Actually my different guns have different purposes, as one size does not fit all. I won't carry a .22 or a 5.25" gun for example. But it's nice to have 15 rounds for home defense. It's cost prohibitive to practice with .45 so I use cheaper .22. An AR 15 rifle is good for long distance but can't be used for clay shooting etc etc.

Some people also collect historical weapons.

One popular competition now is 3 gun where you shoot a course using 3 guns, pistol, rifle and shot guns.

As someone involved in LE training in a past life, I can unfortunately confirm most LE training is horrible. I've even had to correct issues with SWAT cops that should have been trained better...

I always taught folks to carry a knife capable of being deployed one handed on the opposite side of your gun, so in a retention struggle your strong side can focus on the gun and weak side can go all stabby-stab. I bring this up because on the LE side at least, 90% of all gunfights start AND end as fistfights, partly because pistols suck at killing people and none of us focus on combatives as much as we should. The knife isn't your primary BTW, it's just there to assist with retention.

And street violence never comes out of nowhere. There's almost always pre assault indicators, grooming cues, etc. ECQC by Craig Douglas is an excellent class on managing close quarter contacts and combining combatives with gunfighting, and covers most of this.

Nope, I'm in the US and have a bunch of edge weapons ranging from 2" folders up to the Kikuri that is attached to my EDC/Get home bag. In my actual BOB I have like 3 knives (two assisted folders and one fixed) plus a tamohawk/entry tool.....I won't even get into how many SOG and Benchmade knives I also have stashed around my BOL's and the house, or have lost all together

I don't have any guns at the moment, but do want to eventually get a revolver of some kind, and a carbine.

Though somewhere I do have a twin wakizashi set that was hand crafted in Maui. More ornamental than anything, since sharpening them would take away the rustic look to them.

Just a heads up.  The Obama administration is working on Federal Regulations that would prohibit gun purchases by any person who ever saw a psychiatrist or therapist.  That means the most victimized sub-group of Americans, we transgender women and particularly trans women of color could no longer obtain guns or concealed carry permits for protection.  The regulations will also make it illegal for me to hold my Federal Firearms License as a collector, and I'd be required to turn in my license and log book.

The regulations may be unconstitutional, but that doesn't mean the Department of Justice under Obama wouldn't push them through anyway.

There are many types of ball-and cap-guns that any person over 18 can purchase, but most people aren't trained to safely load a black powder rifle or pistol.

This strikes a nerve for me. Normally I'm for some control on gun availability, but this would be far to overreaching and should be stopped before it even has a chance to become law. Regardless it's probably unconstitutional anyway, but I don't want to take a chance of even having to see that play out. Ugh, over reaching government what will they think of next. Hugs

I hope he realizes that if he keeps pushing his luck with gun control, he will start a second civil war right?

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and TYRANTS"

The constitution gives me the right to own guns so when our government gets out of control, and crosses the line from patriots to tyrants, we the people have the power to eliminate them and start over fresh.
