What are you trying to accomplish in your life?

I like to do work which helps people not as well off as me (that's saying something as a trans person, I know). I'm also like drawing and writing (aka comics!) which I do every week where possible... I enjoy doing it and some people enjoy reading it.

My work is extremely fulfilling.  We might change the world.  I'm trying to secure a permanent position with them.

I know everyone is "supposed" to choose a purpose in life.  But I have never felt like doing what I was supposed to do.  My main goal has always been just to live my life with integrity.

So it is rather disillusioning to discover that I was deceiving myself for decades about who I was.  :icon_eek:

But the goal remains.  This isn't the road I thought I was on, but I can still go the same direction on it.

To enjoy this life to its fullest, and to have a good death when my time comes.

I am not gonna ever have much of a normal life... so I guess I'd like to slay some personal demons before it's over.

Make music, make love, make peace. Not necessarily in that order.

Help and encourage others to be themselves. I also write, act, and perform.

I'm still trying to figure this out. I just know I'm not the person I was even a couple of weeks ago. I guess I take some solace in that, even if I don't know where I fit in yet. I know I definitely want to help other trans people, I don't like seeing people hurt [emoji22]

At this point, I have no idea. It currently seems like getting screwed over with student loans is it for the moment. Eventually, hopefully I can support myself well enough to have a comfortable home with some cats and money to pursue a couple of hobbies.

Many years ago a family member said I had a good aptitude for software development and mentored me. Did not take long to find out he was right. During my learning stages I used various online resources and thought to myself, thank goodness for those who share their knowledge online.

So an effort to give back once competent I began writing articles for one developer magazine dedicated to a programming language and for a year make a decent living from this. Then came a realization that there are those who could not afford to purchase these types of magazines or learned better from sample code.

So around 2003 I joined a non-profit organization and wrote many tutorials with downloadable samples. Then in 2008 I began writing tutorials for Microsoft and Microsoft noticed and awarded me with their MVP award (Most Valuable Professional). There are only 4,000 globally and each year Microsoft re-evaluates them, this is my second year. Today there has been just under 100,000 downloads with four star reviews.

At my current employment for the past twenty years I am a senior developer and mentor other developers in the company.

Anyways seems my purpose is to teaching others how to write software. I would have never in my dreams considered this to had been a career path as for the first part of my life I taught self-defense and did again between 2000 and 2013.

The only thing that makes sense to me! Make life better for those you can. Look out for the underdog. Be true to yourself and enjoy the time you have, to the fullest. Laugh and cry with gusto!
