Dec 21, 2012 is the day the 30 year ban on plaid is lifted. Maybe. 

Anyhoo if the  magnetic poll of the center of this galaxy were to shift towards us that would mean that we are not in it. However we are half way out the main spiral. Remember that everything in the universe is moving and some other black hole or quasar could move into our system. A black hole would suck us in and a quasar would pummel us with gamma radiation and totally cook the solar system including the sun. A great day for a barbeque.
