I talked to my mom about this and she always liked Susan, but my Dad's brother named their youngest Susan and she was born before me, so that was off the table.  More than likely I would have the name my sister has, since she was born 2 years later.  I am kinda glad I don't have that name  ;)

My mom likes the name Sarah, which is fortunate for me even though she freely admits that she would not have named me that.  Not that she had much say when I transitioned.  What can I say, I have good taste...LOL  ;D

It was my dad who named me, and he has a habit of naming his sons after other people like rock stars, so I dread to think.

The great thing about all this nonsense happening to me was that I have a legit excuse to name myself whatever I want.

Josephine Marie. Named for the feminine version of my great grandfather and the middle name for my great grandmother. I remember that from a conversation my mom and one of my aunts had when I was little. My would have been a girl name burned into my memory.  :)

My name was going to be Nancy. They believed, up the point that I was born that I was a girl (technically, they weren't wrong). It was my grandmothers name and she had died like 3 years before I was born.

I honestly do not know the answer to this one, they never told me what my name wouldve been if I had been otherwise and now I cant even ask my parents at all...they wouldnt dignify me with an answer because they know me as I am and thats that.

If I had to guess it'd be something fancy, my brother's name is Wesley so my parents are very fond of less than common names.

It doesnt matter now, though. I like my name now more than before and all it is is an alternative to my birth name

Forgot about it until I saw this but my mom had told me that when she was pregnant with me her doctor told I was going to be a girl.  Don't know what they based that on 50 years ago but as you say they, technically were right.

Name was going to be Robin Rae if the right body had come out.

Anastasia

I ended up with my name as Anastasia due to a late internet session. I was very tired, out of it and a site wanted my femme name. I used Anastaia, just seemed right. Years later, after my daughter was born, and we had only picked out a girls name, (somehow, I knew that was all we needed), I asked my mom what my name would have been if I had been a girl. She told me Anastasia, after my great grand-mother (b.1877, d.1980). I have always thought it strange that I used the name I would have had if I had been born correctly as a girl.

This among everything else I wanted to discuss about 'questioning' were forbidden.
I probably would've had the first name 'Marie' like all women on my mothers side though..

Mariah

According to my mom, it would have been Lori Ann. They gave that to my sister who was born a little over a year later. Hugs

Cassandra, Penelope or Zoe.

I tried Cassandra for a while, but it just didn't stick mentally,  and no way in hell am I a Penelope.  And I used to know a Zoe, so that'd be weird.

There are some female names I used online, back before I knew I was trans.  There's Aoife, which is a great name, and I love the odd spelling.  I used to use a female variant of my given name a lot too.

I'd have been called Liam, but my brother's middle name is William so it would be kinda weird to call myself that I guess

Based on tradition my middle name would have been David after my Father, but no idea on first name. My current name is the Masc version of my birth name, because it is comfortable and the nickname is gender neutral.

Fredrick Martin and I would have been a jr. after my dad.  My brother would have been the one with a different name then.  Probably something cooler.

I was a bit horrified to learn my name would have been Bart  ??? which is short for Bartek or Bartosz, the polish version of Bartholomew. All I can think of is Bart Simpson  :o

I never understood why some parents choose to call their kids "their name + junior" It always seemed to me like pushing your kid into your shadow and not giving them their own identity.

The Spanish version of "Luke Roderic" .... my female names actually have more of a spiritual meaning in many senses.

pretty pauline

Definitely Pauline, I've 3 older brothers and the last born, so when I arrived my mother was certain a girl had finally arrived and was disappointed so had to shorten the name she had picked out to Paul removing the ''ine'' from my name, but then 18 years later when I transitioned to female, I added ''ine'' to Paul and finally became Pauline, I believe I always Pauline and just had some surgical procedures to correct the mistake at birth.
If your going thru hell, just keep going.
