I was born in Virginia, but haven't lived there since I was 1 year old way back in 1964. The one piece of paperwork I was planning on never being able to change was my birth certificate. It turns out they changed the process in February and now it looks like I will be able to change everything!

Yay and congratz!!  I changed my birth certificate last year after the HB2 fervor began sweeping the country.  I had never planned on doing it, because it was unnecessary since I had my passport.  But these dragonian bathroom bills made me go through the process.  My Mom even encouraged me to get this done.  I was fortunate to have been born in Denver, so the process was relatively easy. :)

Thanks! Up until recently I wasn't going to be able to do it since I do not plan on surgery.

Saw Craig David in concert tonight he looked directly at me and gave me a thumbs up as I pointed to him. I'm on cloud 9!

Two things happened today that made me really happy. I was completely dressed in the clothes of my true gender.

1.
I was in a department store and picked up a skirt to try on. I walked to the fitting room. The young lady there gave me a card with '1' written on it. I then turned to the left to walk into the fitting room. The young lady told me 'NO! You go right.' I had not noticed the sign indicating men to the left and women to the right. I assumed because I was in the women's clothing section of the store that I could have gone left or right.

2.
I was in a greengrocer's shop. The woman standing next to me reached out at the same time I did and went to pick up the same carrot. The was a mutual laugh and smile.

In neither case did either of the women show any sign of recognition as to who I was. I was really pleased and happy.

Happy hugs,

Bronwen.

I received my first correspondence addressed to "Dear Ms. Xxxxxxx" (sorry not sharing my last name).  I've been called Alyssa quite a bit already but this is the first time I've had written communication from a company I do business with refer to me as Ms.  Such a silly little thing but yet so huge in it's affirmation that I'm headed down the right road.

After 3 months of visiting my therapist, I attended my first local transgender group meeting in Minneapolis.  I was very nervous before the meeting but the girls there were awesome and it was very well organized.  I'm looking forward to the next meeting in two weeks.

I love support groups and would PM you to get the contact info about the Minneapolis group but that can't happen till you get 15 posts.  I live in Oregon but grew up and visit Minneapolis frequently.

Good for you for getting out there girl!

I was the one that had to leave the meeting early. Glad you could make it!

I believe a newbie can reply to your PM, even before they get to 15.

Big one for me today. I received my new full validity passport in the mail today, with the correct Female gender marker!

So excited, and relieved. The passport was the last big gender marker change that I am able to do pre-op.

I'm so relieved to have the passport stuff done. With the new US administration there was suddenly a very hot fire lit under my butt. And also nice to be done with all the legal crap. I would not wish that on anyone.

Congrats Brooke! I know that each time I received a new piece of ID, I was ecstatic! Many tears of joy were shed!

Thank you! I can most certainly relate to the tears of joy. So interesting how meaningful and validating an ID can be. What is taken for granted by the vast majority is a complete game changer for us.

Definitely worth celebration!
