What's a reasonable cost for laser on face?

As soon as I can I plan to start Death Staring my face, and have begun heavier research into options in my vicinity. But comparing the costs at the local and semi-local places, they seem absurdly expensive compared to the averages I find on many other sites. The only one that is on Groupon is a good drive away (which hinges on me getting transport), and looks like it'd be around $400-$600 for the first 3 sessions if I'm reading this right, but full price after(which is 4 times that). (They have no full face options on group, and so looks like I'd  have to 1) buy two small areas for chin and lip, then 1 medium area for cheeks and 1 medium for neck, which are $100 and $200 apiece respectively, or 2) buy a large area for full face depending on what their policies are, the fine print is unhelpful.) Other places closer to me are the same or higher full price with no obvious discounting options, and some questionable online reviews. (The place on groupon actually seems to be well regarded.)

So what I'm wondering is, what did everyone else wind up paying for laser on beard area? I am having to be very cost effective at the moment, and this is my big concern on that front. Basically, I need to know I am getting a decent deal before I can justify even an expense as important as this.

(My financial logistics are sketchy, as I am not working while attending school and living off of a quickly dwindling modest inheritance. Which I still have another semester of school full time, then am still going until Spring 2019 for cleaning up stray courses with potentially another year depending on if I am accepted into a master's program that will pay off big long term. In theory I could work while doing the part time schooling, but that risks medicaid I'm relying on to pay for extremely expensive medicines I require, so have to more or less figure out to make progress transitioning while not starving to death. ;D If I can get some collectibles sold I have a bit more wiggle room on stuff like hair removal costs, but that is a big if, though dealing more heavily with that is something I can actually do while stuck with part time classes without screwing anything else up.)

Technically, I'm in debt at the moment (yay credit cards!), does that mean if I send you all of my money you then owe me money?

Laser can be a real disaster. I started off paying 475 francs a session in Switzerland. Its cheaper now, more like 200, but still doing that 9 times and still having hair is damn expensive

I pay about $220 for a pack of 5 treatments. I've had almost 20 now, I'm on my last pack. Most of the hairs are gone but I'm considering having another 5 cause there are still a few random hairs growing on their own in no man's land. So I've paid about $880 which to me is very reasonable for 20 treatments over 20 months.

Wow, that is what I want to find. Was that through a groupon deal or something, or just a really good priced local place?

When bought in packs of 5, one of the sessions is free.
No groupon deal, and this is in Australia. I do think laser tends to be more expensive in the US. :(

I'm in Chicago.  I found a Groupon for face (no neck) for $225 ( I think ).  When I went back a second face session, I purchased the neck for $250ish.  That's 6 face and 6 next for near $500.  But the owner of the clinic, who was doing the zapping on me did 7 face.  After all it's her work I'm showing off.

In 7 face sessions and 6 neck. I can go probably 48 hours without shaving and workout close inspection you wouldn't see anything.  All the dark hairs are gone.  Only the light and gray ones.

If anyone in the Chicago area wants the name, I'm me and I'll send it.  But you have to promise to tell Seema that Denise sent you.

I pay £90 (~$100) per 30 minute session in the UK which covers the entire face and neck.

I've had 11 sessions so far I think so nearing the end but very tough hair on the lip / chin (finally starting to reduce though) - I started with incredibly dense hair.

Here "full face" is face+neck and is often on Groupon. I got 12 sessions for I think $1100 and each is around 30 minutes or so and I feel very thorough. I got a "large area" Groupon at a different place for $460 for my 6 on my chest which I don't think I'm as happy with.

Ok, so it sounds like it erring on the side of around 8-12 sessions needed to get full effect, it should fall around $1000 total? (Doubling up what Denise paid for 6, dropping a little below Jill's 12, and pretty much hitting Sophie's $100 per on the mark.) Hrrm, definitely overly expensive around here then. The cheapest one I mentioned in my original post would be 150% to 200% of that readily.

I probably paid way too much, but when I decided to start I just wanted to get things moving and did not shop around. I went to a chain clinic that provides several different non-invasive procedures, which includes laser hair removal (a real laser, not IPL). I bought a package deal which covers 10 treatments for the entire face and neck, but it cost $5,000 (U.S.). If there is still hair after 10 treatments they charge $160 per additional treatment, but you only get the $160 price if you buy the original package.

I have had five sessions so far, about 8 weeks apart, and they are definitely working on the dark hairs. There are still a few hanging on, but they are really sparse. Although the price may have been high I am happy with the results so far.

I had one session of laser, it was full face and neck and I think it was $300, maybe $325, and it only took 15 minutes. I felt super ripped off, and I already went in knowing that it might not work with my beard color (reddish brown)

I went to another place and they were $100 cheaper for the whole face, but this woman was straight up with me and said she didn't think it would work. and this place also cuts their rates during the winter too, so keep a lookout for deals in the off season! My mustache is a little darker than the rest of my facial hair so I may try laser on that sometime

I'm amazed how expensive laser is over the pond.  Here, with a highly reputable skin clinic I managed to get 8 sessions for about £570 ($750).  I think normally it's more expensive (just under £1000) but I guess if you get your timing right there are some good deals to be negotiated

I pay $150 per session for the first eight sessions, they drop to $75 per session after that.  That is for "beard" which comes down the neck a bit, but not completely.

I just had session 9 yesterday (on my way to work, which was awful by the way), but I'm pretty clear over most of my face.  There was a bit of shadow on my chin and upper lip that started last week as part of a new cycle and that is what the tech really went after yesterday.

I've paid about $90 for face and neck. $300 for full chest and partial pubic region. $250 for all of the above when I mentioned I didn't get any shedding the first time.

The jury is still out for me and I'm concentrating on electrolysis instead for more definite (definitely slower too!) results.

Thailand by the way.

I haven't started my laser treatment yet. The quote I got was part of a Groupon discount. For $100 I'd get 6 treatments for a small area (I'm planning on underarms). While under that Groupon deal they offer 50% off other treatments. $3300 for face with the discount makes $1650. For an additional $325 they'll do full neck area.

Total of $2075 for 6 treatments to underarms and full beard. Bonus: After the initial treatments, touch ups are free for two years! They do offer a payment plan for an additional $100 financing fee (interest). Payments should be something like $175/month for a year.

This is at a med spa chain that is fairly reputable. I just hate owing money/having debt so I'm waiting until tax refund time. Though I'm debating that as my dysphoria is really kicking my butt when it comes to shaving and visible shadow.

That seems kind of pricey Stacy.   But if they'll keep doing monthly treatments for two years it might not be so bad.  You'll almost certainly need more than six sessions on your face, I definitely did.

They recommend 6 to 8 weeks between sessions to allow hair growth cycles to change from dormant to active and such. I intended to go first for underarms then 4 weeks later for face and alternate over the course of a year. Everyone that's in my support group that has gone to this place says it's very effective after only 3 or 4 sessions (90% or better, only a few stragglers).

There's not many places around that offer this service, so my options are limited.
