My next appointment is coming up on the 5th. After years and years of bad healthcare experiences ranging from forced conversion therapy as a teen, to general malpractice in North Idaho, my upcoming third attempt at starting gender affirming hormone therapy in two different informed consent clinics has me very anxious.

Part of me knows my anxiety is just in my head based on past experiences. This will be my second first attempt at even getting lab work done at the nearest planned parenthood in Spokane Washington. After talking with a supervisor, I was told things would be handled properly this next time with a different provider. I'm trusting that will be the case.

Definitely going to have elevated blood pressure when it's checked. It should all work out well, but I'm crossing my fingers. After working at this so long, I really need some forward movement.

I'm hoping to share some good news for a change! :)

Heyyy I really hope it goes well for you. That's sounds like such an awful set of things to go through. The world is changing (slowly) for the better.

When I'm having trouble sleeping I put on some Bryan Adams and let that carry me off to Never Neverland.

Dana, best wishes and I think you will find third time's a charm.

I am sorry to hear about your previous journey to get to this point, but in the long run I believe you will be tougher than nails with all your experiences (and I'm not talking about a manicure).

If you get a bit nervous, here's a fact to consider: you are not alone.  We are all right there with you.

Your persistence and determination already tells me what the answer is.  You're going to win.

Molly :)

I appreciate the thoughts, and great advice! Music is my main tool for calming my mood, even meditation. I do have Summer of 69 on my playlist, I'll be cranking that song up on my drive into Spokane today for my appointment!

Kendra :)

Thank you again for helping me raise my chin up. With time and progress keeping my head up will be second nature. Getting this goal achieved will be a huge step in that direction. I've been using a type of coping skill that I've come up with, that I'm sure have roots on many different cultures. I've always carried small items, or charms. Something tangible that I can feel, and touch. I'm making a bracelet that contains a spiritual link to my support structure including Susan's. Normally I'd just think of the family I have here, but something physical gives an extra boost. I'll use both! Thank you.

Success!

I mean... Yeaaahh!

My new provider performed very well, very informed. I actually had lab work done last October at a clinic that was too far away, but the results showed that I was ready to begin. I had expected at least another few weeks before I could begin hormones, but my provider and I decided it was a clear option to begin immediately without any new lab testing.

Tomorrow, if my local pharmacy has what I need in stock, or at least on order. It has been a long climb to begin this new phase of my journey. Phase two. Empowerment will be a evolving motivator, as well as a new learning process for what is to come. I'm so ready.

Also, I slept like a stack of logs last night. Im still waking up. Huge weight off the shoulders.  :)

Dana, YES!!

I live near Seattle but I'm in Seoul right now - and you can probably hear me all the way from Korea.

Dana

I have read your previous threads aswell as this one and know you've had a hard time.

I am so glad that at last you can start HRT. Congratulations.

Extra bonus of a good night's sleep is well deserved.

Pamela
