Join the FB group if you can. They have been adding a lot of info in the files section. Read those first before submitting new questions. If you go on transbucket and look under phallo procedures you will see the photo. It also has a link to the FB group under it, if you click on the photo.

If it is helpful I am meeting with Dr. Bluebond-Langner next month to chat about my August stage 1 and I will report back. She is reworking my staging so I will post both options with some details for those that are looking for all of the info they can find. By options I mean her standard order of procedures and the rearrangement of mine.

Apologize it's been such a long time guys. I've had a long list of pre-surgical meetings, checkups, requirements, etc. But everything cleared including my insurance. I'm so beyond relieved, excited, & happy. Most of all -- I'm ready!

My phalloplasty surgery with Dr. Ting is next Wed, Jan 31st!!!

I've met with him & his team numerous times...have seen lots of photographs & have never been more confident using Dr. Ting. In my opinion, he's figured out the best new phalloplasty procedure available today. Again, just my research & my personal opinion.

My surgery will be 7 hours long on the 31st, followed by 6-7 days in the hospital, followed by 3-4 weeks in a recovery center/hospital here in Manhattan. I was thrilled to hear that! As of now, with my body... Dr. Ting is planning to do 90-95% on the 31st. Of course follow up revisions & possible urethra issues will most likely occur. But as of now, I'm only scheduled for 1 procedure. I've met with everyone on the surgical team...that will be there for my surgery including Dr. Rodriguez who preformed my hysto & was probably the best doctor I've ever had. I feel really confident, but of course realistic about my surgery. A lot can happen during surgery but I feel great about the choice I made & ultimately it's the finished "look" that I always dreamt of.

Feel free to reach out to me during my recovery. I'll try to update everyone post surgery.

Wish me luck.... much love guys & thanks for all your support/input! It's a long struggle to get here but once you do... feels so good.

transnomad, what all will be done at his time, in 7 hrs I expect you will have several procedures.  I know that many dr have been combining procedures so you need less total hospitalizations which is great for recoverying.

Can I ask what insurance you have? I'm intrigued by the recovery center approval.

Good luck to you on this endeavor, transnomad!  NYU/ Dr BL was my second choice, and I found Dr Miro through the Mt Sinai team as he is an adjunct Professor in their program (he teaches all over the world in between surgeries—quite the Energizer bunny).   As BL does not like to combine hysto w/ Stage 1 Phallo (among many other reasons—among them, MLD experience), I opted for the amazing Serbian team of Dr Miroslav Djordjevic.  I'm exactly 14 days post-op from Stage 1 and am on the mend.  Foley cath still in, but will likely come out tomorrow.  What an incredible 14 days since sx on 1/16.

I re-read this thread and understand you're having yours covered 100% by NY Medicaid; count yourself lucky.  I could have worked my EXCELLUS insurance with BL/NYU as "out of area but in network" but honestly——the cost of the Stage 1 sx (even with travel, excluding the separate hospitalization for hysto) is about 5 times the cost of my Stage 1.  Not to mention the bureaucracy at NYU—-I'm 54 and ready to get a move on!  ; )

In re-reading this thread that started in August, I realize you're the one who was positive on the new Ting procedure, so absolutely—would love to follow and stay caught up on your recovery.  In a perfect world, we could use more of that abdominal tissue right there where it needs to be (incl some muscle; much of the reason I like MLD) and do less damage to other areas of the body.  RFF was never an option for me as I honestly am horrified by the stories of recovery, rehab, complications etal—-regarding the arm.  As a musician and jock—there's no way I could tolerate loss of function in either of my hands!  I'm right handed predominantly, but mostly ambidextrous.  It's tough enough dealing with having my non-dominant side just under the armpit—stitched up, as it impacts range of motion a bit.  But—-I chose a small phallus (big enough for ED) in hopes of avoiding the necessity of requiring grafts for closure.  They hit a homerun with mine.  A few months of lymphatic massage I believe will have me back to normal.

Please keep us posted on your endeavors, as I may opt to stay state side for subsequent stages—we'll see how recovery goes.  We all know that you will likely be out of commission for some days immediately post-op, but we hope you will circle back to up date us.  I'd also, as a fellow new phallo guy—like to stay in touch with you as you're in my home state (of NY).

Good luck to you, and Godspeed on this difficult first stage!!!

It sounds like good things are happening for some of you, congratulations!  I am myself scheduled for surgery soon, but have only recently started encountering information about Dr. Jess Ting, and I want to make sure I have thoroughly investigated all the options.

Since newbies cannot send messages, and no one can post the Facebook link to Dr. Ting's group on the procedure, could anyone here message me the link?  I have been hunting all over and even called the office, but have not gotten the information yet.

I apologize for the begging, I cannot think of any more options.

Dear transnomad,

thank you so much for sharing   your journey with us!
I  really hope, your surgery was a success and you are recovering well.

I am on my way to phalloplasty, too, I also have an appointment for a first surgery (out of 4 or 5, if everything goes well). I'm really excited about this new technique of Dr. Ting and their team. I just heard about it recently and read through this thread, saw the pic on transbucket and am going to find the fb-group.

I'd really love to get in contact with you and other guys, who had or is going to get operated by this team. Not only I would like to know, if I myself made the right decision for me (RFF), but I would also like to spread the word about this new method, so that more people get informed.

I live in Germany and have a Russian YouTube channel. So, I would make some videos in both languages and sub them in English.

So, transnomad, I would really appreciate, if you could write me an email (PMs wouldn't work for me yet) to forb.symbATgmaildotcom

I'll really be happy, if anyone, who has some more information and would answer my questions about this procedure, will write.

Thanx in advance!

Let's share this valuable information!

Since I cannot yet reply to private messages, etc.:

JHeron - Thank you for the link!  There really is a wealth of information on the group for Dr. Ting's procedure; I am surprised to see a surgeon at this level of active engagement.

Jacqui - Thank you for the welcome, I looked through all the information.  I have been to this site often, but not as a registered user.  I appreciate the environment for discussion and sharing of information that is provided.

I am looking forward to hearing how your experiences have gone, to those of you who have/are approaching surgery, if you are comfortable sharing.  Thank you for including the detail you have already.

@alteredego no worries! Happy to spread the word, honestly the visual result on Tbucket coupled with Dr T's innovation - the informative Mt Sinai website and the FB group made me 1000% sure I'm going to get in line for this one (and this coming from someone who was all for Dr Crane/Chen since it was the Brownstein practice). I think the fact that it's his own method makes him particularly interested in connecting with his target demo so he can modify things if need be according to the demands of the community. It's really mind-blowing..  I didn't think something like this could be possible for another couple of years  ;D

Has anyone here got regular RFF phalloplasty from Dr.ting .. I'm was undecided between alt with Dr.bluebond and rff with Dr.ting because I really want alt but I could settle with rff if I can get the size I want or close to it and still have reason able girth since it would be easy to go with Dr.ting being he's in the same building as my endocrinologist .. Going with Dr.bluebond would require me to transfer medical records over too a new building and travel there instead and plus alt will have more stages to it and she doesn't do hysto in stage one , so those are the down sides that are making me go more towards Dr.ting.

Hi guys, I'm back! Looks like I still can't reply to private messages. My surgery was on Jan 31st so I've been in recovery since. My surgery was 14 hours long! Dr Ting spent a lot of time working on my penis & he's really into fine details. All went well but I won't lie, it felt like I was hit by a bus! Waking up was the most painful experience. But he did everything I requested all in one surgery! I can go into more details if needed just in a lot of pain today. I stayed in the hospital for 7 days, then I went to a recovery center to heal & receive physical therapy for 2 more weeks. I can't imagine all the guys who go directly home post surgery! Ouch! I couldn't even walk for 15 days. The recovery center was awesome. Then I was released & went home to my girlfriend's apt in Brookkyn. I've been recovering ever since. Some good days, some bad days. Another amazing thing is they offer free post recovery nursing care! So they assembled a team for me... 3 people (a nurse, an aid, & a physical therapist) to help me recover at home for another month. I'm so thankful! All this is covered for free! I'm honestly shocked. I'd say all this would have been well over $100k of treatment and care. I have Health First Medicaid. To meet these requirements I've had to live below poverty line for well over 2 years. My girlfriend obviously has the $...& I couldn't have lived in NYC without her help! It would have been impossible. I will be setting up photos on trabsbucket soon to help other guys out. I love the way my penis looks & it's slowly healing. I've had 2 small erections from kissing my girlfriend & that was shocking! My penis just bulges a little but we were amazed. I called Dr Ting right away. The most difficult aspects are the catheter & all the nerve/muscle spasms. Nerves are re-connecting so there's constant pain. But that's actually important. If there was no pain, I'd be in trouble. My pain is 24/7 even with meds. I want to be as real & honest with you guys... this is not an easy recovery! My girlfriend honestly helps me 24/7. I can barely shower...I can still barely walk... I need help all the time. You have days where you cry & days where you smile. It's a rollercoaster. I'm having a rough day today but I do want to explain the catheter/bladder/urethra issues further. It's very important as I was rushed to the ER a few days ago due to a misplaced catheter & extremely painful bladder spasms!! I want to explain more but too exhausted at the moment...still healing. Just know Dr Ting is an amazing surgeon & I 100% think he's the best phalloplasty surgeon in the US. I know that seems very bold to say but I wish I could just show you guys... visually. I'd never go through the traditional Phalloplasty methods at all. And no, he doesn't perform them. He only does his new technique using the labia.

May I ask what length and girth you received, I know it probably depends on anatomy but I just want to get a feel for what I may have a chance at getting. Also you really got an erection on your own? That's amazing! And when you say you got everything done in one do you mean hysto too and scrotom ?? :)
  •

JHeron

Dude that's amazing to hear, congrats on your result either way - pain aside seems you're really happy with the aesthetic and sensory result so that's fantastic. Did you ever talk to the Dr Ting about the skenes gland option? I asked him in the fb group and he said he leaves it intact, heard of any post op guys from him being able to "cum" so to speak?
By the way are you getting the glands done later on and does it really add on an extra inch? (I've heard it could)

My penis is still swollen so unfortunately I can't give you a final exact size - but right now in bed, flaccid it's 4.5". This will change slightly as my penis continues to heal. It swells up after bathing or a hot shower... and of course, when sexually aroused.

It's far too early to see if I can "cum". My penis is far too fragile right now. But I'll keep you posted.

Note: I want to be very clear about these early "erections" - they are small but noticeable. After making out with my girlfriend the bulge in my underwear changed quite a bit. I'd describe it more as a bulge at the base (where my clit is hidden under) but I was pumped! The reason this happens is he selects 3 very important muscles (2 from my legs & 1 from my abs) that adjust, increase blood flow, and replicate a semi-erection based on initial patients & trials. All I can say, it was a very awesome moment for me.

I had my hysterectomy this past July with Dr Rodriguez at Mt Sinai. I chose to do the procedures separate — but I believe you can do everything at once. Dr Rodriguez was at my phalloplasty procedure to seal up all remaining "female" parts.

Not sure if I mentioned before, but I'll have a 2nd surgery in July/Aug to make certain corrections. Dr Ting initially places your urethra hole on the side of your penis so it can drain properly without fear of infection. If a surgeon places the hole on top, right away... there's a higher risk of bacterial infections. So he'll re-position the hole, remove the catheter (hopefully), & surgically improve the aesthetic of everything else.

So yes I had a vaginectomy, urethroplasty, scrotoplasty, glansplasty all at once.
Later upon healing Dr Ting & I will discuss what else could be done such as erection devices, etc. But as of now he's seeing great results utilizing these muscles, especially in the abdomen.

Oh okay and that's pretty awesome , did he tell you what size you may end up with as a result during your consultant by checking your body though? And keep us updated on if you will post on transbucket , I'd love to see his work
  •

transnomad

There's a few factors regarding penis size & how Dr Ting works. First his goal is to create a phallus that compliments the size & frame of your body. Personally I didn't want a HUGE penis & am really confused why so many trans guys are fixated on this. Not saying you are... just stating my feelings. I've been with a lot of women & too large is a turn-off for many... not my thing. So it's obviously your life & penis — but I think it should fit your body. Since he uses the labia to construct your phallus - if you have little skin there, probably Dr Ting wouldn't be a good choice? You'd need a consultation to discuss. I'm personally pumped with the size he gave me & it's the largest I'd ever go. My girlfriend is already worried it will be too big for her :(
  •

Tae_C

I mainly want 5 the least but not cause my gf. She can't cum from penetration anyway so its for my want. But I'm still confused how he uses the labia
  •

transnomad

If 5" is your goal - you'd definitely need to discuss & meet with Dr Ting... to specifically tell him your goals. Without question, you'd get the largest penis from the traditional phalloplasty utilizing the thigh. Personally I didn't want large skin grafts & possibly a year of 3 surgeries & a lot of pain. It's too much for me honestly. That's not to say Dr Ting couldn't create a 5-6" flaccid penis... it just all depends on your skin down there. Yeah I have a drawing of how he does it... I can't believe he created what he did from my labia skin. Best idea is to reach out to Mt Sinai / trans center & get signed up to start meeting the team & then Dr Ting. The sooner you do it...the better.
