Hi All...

Untitled by Ashley Campbell, on Flickr
Two years ago today..

I hope all is well... Those of you who have seen my posts in the past may have seen me offering the concept to transitioners and all those that struggle with lifes challenges that "amazing, wonderful and unexpected discoveries await...

i hold this day up as example of this... Today is my second wedding anniversary... My husband and i are celebrating two blessed years and are giddy with excitement over our upcoming status as granparents!

if anyone had told me six years ago, that I would be married to a man, after a half century of relationships with women... much less a grandmother?... i would have laughed... Our lives can take some beautiful and unexpected turns so please... Leave yourself open to all the places that your lives can take you... Live Life, Love Life...

Now, I am off to enjoy the day... We are going to have a nice celebration out tonight... I am going to wear my new Betsey Johnson floral dress!

Onward we go...

"To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment" ... Ralph Waldo Emerson 🌸

"The individual has always had to struggle from being overwhelmed by the tribe... But, no price is too high for the privilege of owning yourself" ... Rudyard Kipling 🌸

Let go of the things that no longer serve you... Let go of the pretense of the false persona, it is not you... Let go of the armor that you have worn for a lifetime, to serve the expectations of others and, to protect the woman inside... She needs protection no longer.... She is tired of hiding and more courageous than you know... Let her prove that to you....Let her step out of the dark and feel the light upon her face.... amg🌸

WOW! You are really an inspiration. Love your shoes in the first picture and the dresses in both. Transitioning is still a dream for me at this point, but I hope to get a fraction of the blessings you have had in yours.

Ashley,

You are a beautiful lady. I'm so happy to see others getting a full slice of happiness from life after transition. Mine has just begun in my early 50s but ladies like you give me inspiration. That is such a cute dress. I would love to be able to pull something like that off. My new devotion to diet and exercise is going to get me there someday. Have a wonderful time. Love and faith.

@Alaskan Danielle @Jennifer M @Gabrielle66 @Sarah1979

Thanks to all of you for the good wishes and sweet thoughts my dear sisters!!!

We never truly know what lies behind the doors of possibility in life, until we walk through them...

GABRIELLE66!... I started HRT at age 52...  The half century mark is a wonderful time for new directions... We have often spent a lifetime proving to ourself that other avenues don't truly work for us and do not truly address the truth of who we are... The truth we have always felt we needed to hide...

Some would call this time in life a "midlife crisis" but, that is not accurate... It is not a crisis... It is an opportunity!!!... It is a time to take stock of where we are in life... Are we happy?.., if not... What corrections need to be made...

I subscribe still to my idea that, at its core... Transition is a spiritual quest... If we have hidden who we are for a lifetime... How can we feel we have truly been loved?... Transition is an attempt to finally, place ourself at a point in our life where we can truly give and receive love... A spiritual quest indeed...

All good things to you and to all here as you move forward to your own amazing discoveries...

Onward we go...

Ashley 😀❤️🌻

Ashley,

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I look at myself in the mirror right now and say who am I kidding? It's like putting lipstick on a mule but I persist. I doubt that I have the genetics to look anything like you do but I will say that my Mom was a beautiful lady when she was younger and if I could reflect even an inkling of that aura then it's worth the effort. I'm not all about how I look and never really will be but it's always nice to think that you might be pretty at the very least. Have a wonderful day and thank you again for your encouragement. Love and faith.

@Gabrielle66

This journey is about expressing inward truth to the world... We seek an outward expression that will make others understand what lies inside us...

At the beginning... getting to that point feels a bit like climbing an insurmountable mountain but, I hope you will consider that great change is possible... if that is what we seek...

https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,210798.msg2173406.html#msg2173406

The journey up the mountain is taken, one step at a time little sister bit don't focus solely on reaching the top... There are joys, lessons and opportunities in each step... Makng our life into what we need it to be is a glorious thing...enjoy the whole process... even the hard days

All good things to you as you journey ahead...

Onward we go...

Ashley 😀💕🌻

PS... My thoughts from the link above that I think apply here...

A few thoughts for those who have found themselves here and are starting to realize that their life, will not truly be THEIR life... until a few changes are made...

Let go of the things that no longer serve you... Let go of the pretense... Let go of the armored shell you have worn for a lifetime to serve the expectations of others and to protect the woman inside... She needs protection no longer.... She is tired of hiding and more courageous than you know... Let her prove that to you....Let her step out of the dark and feel the light upon her face....

Embrace the things that express your inner truth... Show the world and those you Love ...Finally... Who you truly are... Embrace the liberation found in jumping off a cliff in your life even though you don't completely know what lies below... There is a quote I like by Martin Luther King...

"Faith is taking the first step even when you can't see the whole staircase."

It is never too late.... CHOOSE to see how you will make it so... not the reasons you cannot... A journey of a thousand steps is taken one at a time...Don't get lost in the details...  Keep moving forward!!!... In the end, your life will be what you make it... So,... Make it glorious!... make it what you want... make it what you need.... Make it a life well lived... Leave regrets behind you where they belong... All shall be well...

LIVE LIFE... LOVE LIFE...

Onward we go brave sisters,

Ashley 🙋‍♀️💕🙏🌺

Congrats on your 2nd anniversary. The story of Ashley is worth worldwide news, inspiring not just transgender people, but all of SOs, too. Defying gender and age is not easy at all. As a non-transitioner, I also have been trying to overcome both gender and age.

Just do it.

I am so glad for you gf. You have been an inspiration the two plus years I've be on Susan's. Your bright view of life in general is so uplifting. I know I have spent a lot of time boohooing but you are always so upbeat and positive. I'm tired of being negative. I want to be like you. Enjoy the evening but beyond that enjoy life and the grandkids.

@tgirlamc  - Congratulations on your wedding anniversary Ashley - happy for both of you!! XO
You're Living proof of embracing yourself, transitioning, falling in love and getting married! - and being happier than ever!!
You have been such an inspiration to so many people on Susan's and in truth most of those people you will never know about but it still makes a difference!! I still remember browsing Susan's website before joining and seeing your posts particularly because of your bright positive outlook and wording and It was actually your posts that made me feel like this might be a positive place to come - having tried out a couple of other sites that really wasn't what I was looking for.
So SHINE ON beautiful girl!!

Love,

Sonja XO

My life to has been nothing but amazing since I have come out.
Even if things where good before hand, they where lies you know. So atleast this way even if things are a little tough, it's authentic.

@Charlie Nicki ... Thank You so much little sister! 😀

@Barbie... Thank you for the kind words my beautiful sister... When it comes to defying age and gender, I would have to rate your efforts as highly successful!!!😀

@KathyLauren... If you are rating me as inspiring, I am going to have to rate you Crazy Mega Inspiring!!! You always exude feminine class, style and dignity (even when wielding a chainsaw!!!) 😀

@DawnOday... My dear sister, Thank You for the sweet words my friend... my hope for you, is that you will KNOW that any perspective you hold that you wish to change... can be changed... let the weight of any negativity and outlooks that do not serve you fall away and then embrace all that remains... our lives are too short to carry the weight of unneeded burdens... They keep us from being totally free and freedom is what I want for you... you have earned it...😀

I love the thread. I can really relate to your mindset. The fact is if you set your mind to it and accept the real you then life is so much better. Its a long road yes, but each challenge makes you stronger and every day the vision becomes clearer. Its never too late to start to reach your true potential. :)
