Mostly ragchewing.  I used to go for Field Day a lot but, beyond that, I really wasn't into contests.  Of course, I also spent many hours, while commuting, on 2M and 440.

Except for Field Day with a local ARC I am not into contesting either.  I mainly ragchew on 75 with friends and hunt DX on 40 and 20.  I also have 2/440 handhelds that I primarily use for now until my HF station is back up, and a 2/440 mobile radio in the pickup truck.  Hopefully in the next two weeks my HF antenna will be back up in the air and I'll get some RF therapy!

So do you girls prefer ragchewing, DX'ing, contesting, or emergency preparations?  Aside from contesting, my answer is a little bit of everything.  I'm just not a contester, but I love chasing DX and ragchewing with my friends.

for me it's Dx'ing, I listen mostly, transmit very little, and then I listen some more. I like the VE7CC software program to monitor HF bands for openings, (see who is hearing what), I watch that, while I work here. The solar minimum is upon us, could be a while too, 160 was great last fall / winter, but now it's time for sporadic E layer in spring / summer for 6, and 2 meters. Have generator, batteries, solar for my backup power systems (I want more solar). Have the VHF / UHF FM radios on most days out in the shop.

Remembering the turn of century solar maximum period and the awesome world wide 6 meter DX propagation realized then, I worked EU here from 7 land over top 100 w 5 ele yagi, amazing, never heard conditions that good since, the last cycle was a dud...

So my new girlfriend likes to dabble in shortwave and has getting licensed as something she always wanted to do.  I doubt she'll do it, but I hauled out my gear and set it up in my condo (35th floor and mounted my mobile antenna on the balcony).  Now I'm thinking it might be fun to turn it back on and do some radioing.  I have mobile antennas for 10m, 40m, 75m.

Questions:
1) I need QSL cards.  Where do you all get them and I would like them to some include "YL" on it somewhere.  (I may even splurge and get full color and make the background the trans-flag with the Pride flag on one side
2) I think I would like a 20m mobile antenna.  Any recommendations on brand?

Search on QSL card and you'll find some vendors.
I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

I would go with cheapqsls.com.  That is where I got my cards from and they're reasonably affordable.  They will give you a wide range of designs to choose from (although I don't know whether or not they have the Pride flag).  I just moved to a new address, so as a matter of fact I need to order new cards myself.

It has been a long time and much has happened!

It is always great to see returning members. Pop in more often if you can.

As you may know, the site had a crash a year ago and many accounts were lost. The staff has been working away on getting things operational again. Things may look different, but just in case, I'll leave some links for you on the new policies and such.

Welcome back!

Hello Loren aka KC9ZHV

My name is Sarah and I would also like to formally, Welcome you to Susan's Place!

You will have to tell me more about yourself as Lori mentioned the site had a crash and lots of posts were lost.  I see you registered in 2015, yet no posts.  Did you lose posts because of the crash?  I hope you can let us know.

It would be appreciated if you add a little bit more about yourself in the other forums and threads.  I would appreciate it very much as, I'm always interested in learning something new, when members return.

In addition members of Susan's will more than likely will discuss problems or issues that are similar to yours as most have experienced these issues as well.

Take care and all the best for the future.

Once again, Welcome to Susan's Place!

Best Wishes Always
