Quote from: davina61 on June 05, 2025, 03:22:56 AMYes have done that, this is a proper car lift powered by hydraulic rams with safety lock out and its "mobile". Well I say mobile but its awkward as to move on the uneven floor in my workshop.
Guess what, its Thurs food shop again. Need to call in on hardware shop as run out of glue and screwcup washers. My brain not working well this morning as cant spell (thank goodness for checker) so hope I get all I need. Another odd dream night so grey matter mushy this morning, dream residue still lingering.

I hope the "brain fog" lifts.

Just about Chrissy (2 pm now) ,bought a chunk of beef for a curry and it was expensive. £10.30 for just under 1kilo! Still got some reduced stuff for the cupboard, masala rice, butter chicken sauce and a mini garlic pizza that one I will have tonight.

Was this a Chuck roast?  Meat can be expensive.

Organic hamburger or ground chuck (less fat) or ground round (even less fat) can run around $7-$10 USD a pound.

It is interesting for the ground beef, the less fat, the more expensive it is.

For steaks and roasts, the more fat, the higher the price. The Prime beef costs more than Choice grade beef here.

It was a brisket, not sure what you call that stateside. Any way its a long slow cook in beef stock, I trimmed the fat and skin off and boiled it up while prepping and Stuck 2 stock cubes in it.
Mustard seeds, dried red chillies and some split yellow peas go in then chopped shallots, garlic, ginger, curry leaves and tin tomatoes so not your average curry.

We call it brisket, if it is the same cut of meat.  Brisket is very good meat, if cooked right, at least for all that I have had.

Accidents do happen.  Try to have a less traumatic day today.
I hope that it is a wonderful day for you Davina.

Can you put something like a heavy water blocking roll on the floor at the workshop door to block water from coming onto the floor inside?

I have done Chrissy but it still creeps in, ground to the one side is a good 6ins higher . Spent an hour cleaning up filling bin bags ! did a bit of painting to dash panels ,by then I was starting to feel rough so back home. I wish my workshop was at my house as I would nip out and do a bit more now after a rest.

Maybe a water diverter could be used somehow to angle the water away from the workshop.  Any way, good luck when it rains!  Sorry you have to deal with this after a hard rain.

Just one good shower was all that happened, so much for the weather warning! Bright but windy this morning. More paint to rub down this morning to try and get the wood surround for the instruments looking as smooth as. My friend Deb rang and said the rats have eaten the wiring on her Merc, it was under a cover in her garden. She has someone looking at it to recommission it as its been sat 2 years plus, I did tell her you cant just put a battery on and start it. Whoever she has got to do it (thank goodness as I didnt want to touch it) said the engine has to come out.
Calling in on mum as I do every Sun to see if she needs help, saying that she will phone when she needs to sort things.

Weird dream time again just before I woke up, with a bunch of ladies and needed to go for a wee. They said why are you going in the gents and insisted I went in the ladies!!!
Over slept this morning, not that it matters. Attempting to cover the back seat for the Austin today.

That dream does sound a bit peculiar.  But we do have unusual dreams occasionally.
I finally caught up on my sleep.  I got up very early both days this weekend.

Have a very nice day. . .

Managed to cover the back seats of the Austin yesterday, had a fight with the staple gun as it fired 2 at once or bent the staples. Found my older gun that worked fine but ran out of staples that fitted it.
At the moment my life is revolving around getting the Austin done, looking forward to going to the hot rod run with my friends. Well thats if I get it finished on time, back playing up again this morning after yesterdays work.

Life rumbles on, cleaning, cooking, waiting home to make sure parcel came, you know just life stuff. Peed off with the landlord who now wants to charge me £60 a month on top of my rent for the garage that was included with my flat. Trouble is there is nothing in the lease about it but as I said to them I was given the key with the flat keys and told it was included. Mum said she remembered that as well so a few cross emails have been sent to them. Managed a day on the Austin, 7 weeks to get it road worthy now.
I hope anyone taking part in No Kings day has no trouble, your numpty leader is looking for an excuse.

Landlord may be able to alter the terms and charges when the lease expires. Unless there are rent control laws.

There are Chrissy. Well I see on my FB feed there was a good turnout of protesters yesterday and no reports of problems. Back in the UK the I see the preferred new head of the EHRC is an anti trans person, the fight is on.

In 1992 I had a kit car I had built and I stored in a right of way at the back of my house. After a year, my daughter came home from school to see it being loaded onto a trailer. The "owner " of the right of way claimed I owed him £1000! and refused to return the car until I paid. The police viewed it as a civil matter and would do nothing. Take care the same doesn't happen to you.
