I did get to the Renaissance festival. The route I chose wasn't the greatest. I missed 1 turn, Main St., witch was out in the country. I must have missed the detour sign, when at the stoplight the road across was barricaded, and no detour sign. That meant a wrong turn. The crossroad was 212, had I turned the other direction I would have seen the detour sign. I went through town, then backtracked and then saw the detour sign. I followed 212 until there was a detour 41 south exit. Getting back on 41 south, I saw the Renaissance entrance sign. Finally there.
Leaving was a different story. I was unable to make my left turn to backtrack home. Instead I was heading south, and then turned onto a different freeway heading kind of north. Watching the signs, finally I was able to get to 212 west. I knew I could keep heading west at least 50 miles before heading north, by that time I would be in a familiar area.
Next time I know that I could just go to the next town, hit Minnesota 4 south through Cosmos on 7, and get to Hector on 212. 212 straight to the twin cities, find 41 and I'm there.
Almost everyone was in period costumes, some got a little skimpy. I even saw some guys wearing kilts. There were all kinds of shops, some selling dresses , corsets, and whatever else. The prices were kind of too high for me. I still have a bit of anxiety walking into a dress shop. That may totally be from autism in the form of shyness and the number of people around. It was nice to hear the my lady when I bought my bottle of water.
Penn and Teller would be onstage at 2:00 pm, and I didn't know people would be lining up for seating before noon. There was no way that I would be able to stand in a line for 2 hours. The kings guards cleared everyone out of the seating area before allowing those in line to enter. When the seating was filled, others crowded around the seating area. I never got to see them, and decided to leave shortly after 2, but first I bought a folding hand fan.
