Hello

I am fairly new to cross dressing.

A while back I tried on a pair of womans pantyhose, to see how I looked in them. Since then I wear them quite regularly under my pants.
I  have a few pairs now, in various colours.  I now wear them at least once a week. I really enjoy wearing them.

Lately I have had desires to wear more than just pantyhose. I want now want to try on a pair a of panties/gaff and a bra. The breasts I can make with balloons.

I see all the different designs on-line and imagine what I would look like in them or how they would feel against my body.

I have been looking on-line, but can't decide what I want to get. Could someone recommend a good panty/gaff and bra set for a first timer. I want something comfortable.

Ah, the underwear is nothing without the overwear to make it happen.  Try to find your sizes.  Go to goodwill or SalvationArmy and buy some outfits.

As for the B/P sets, so much depends on your measurements.  But try Vanity Fair, Bali and go from there.

Sorry, but I wouldn't know, all my stuff I buy used, make myself, or alter them to get the look/feel i want.

I was lucky enough to have a younger sister to steal from, when I first started. But as tekla mentioned, used clothing stores are gold mines, and you can just say your buying for your girlfriend or something similar and they don't ask any questions.

Good luck in your quest.

If you wear slacks or a long skirt, you won't need a <wince> gaff.  (I can barely imagine how uncomfortable that must be.)

And try a pair of thigh highs.  Much more comfortable and practical than panty hose.  As like many women, I HATE PANTYHOSE, particularly in the office.    Thigh highs are easier to deal with in the ladies room.

Take a look at Haynes Place on line.  Most any clothing catalog has directions on how to measure for a bra.

And remember that baloons break.  If you are seriously into crossdressing, consider breast forms.  And don't go for the Dolly Parton look.

Just some thoughts from someone who thought she was a crossdresser at one point.  Boy, was I wrong.

What is the difference between a panty and a gaff.

I want to look as flat as possible. I want to be comfortable in the underwear before taking the step actually wearing a skirt.

When I wear a skirt for the first time I will try a pair of thigh highs (thanks Robyn), so the skirt will be done to my knees at least. but I still dunno what style it would be.

I agree. As tight pants prevent ventilatio and cause skin problems, I try to loose my buttock areas as much as possible. Thigh highs have been a good option for this purcpose.

A problem of thigh highs is that its band can easily be loose. In my country, thigh highs with very adhesive bands can be purchased at just US $4. In the case of the U.S., HUE thigh highs were nice as they have a plastic band in thigh area, but are relatively expensive and difficult to find in nearlby departments. I purchased through the internet.

For bras, I recently purchased nude bras for exercise. They air very well and sweat easily vaporates. I wear the nude bra under strapless bra when I need a rather large bossom. Or under sports bra when I exercise outdoor.

I tried balloons just once. it was very hard to get them equal in size  I had better luck with rice in  stockings.  others have recommended birdseed.  both of those will absorb perspiration and will need to be dried or replaced.  this will allow you to try several sizes
eventually i got a pair of breast forms that were well worth the price.

This tuck is only really needed to hold back that tell-tale bulge in front in really tight skirts or dresses.

And for that reason, it's best to avoid tight skirts and dresses, particularly when you're starting out. Besides, those outfits are likely to send the wrong message to any guys you meet. Even if that's what you want eventually, it would be best to wait until you have more experience.

Here's another trick: try putting a panty liner inside your panties. Sometimes that helps smooth out and hide any telltale bulge.

Oh yes, I agree that thigh highs are MUCH more practical than pantyhose. Pantyhose only make sense when you're wearing a miniskirt. And miniskirts are risky when you're starting out.

What I have found is to go to any department store lingerie area and buy firm control shapewear in a high leg brief style. ... Don't worry about the sales people looking at you funny. Really, they don't care where their commission is coming from.

Great advice, with one caveat. Most salecritters don't care, but once in a while you'll run into a twit. I find it helps to prepare a cover story in advance. Say it's for your wife. Know her name and hair color.

Oh, and in the US, anyway, when I pay in cash, department stores often ask if I want to open a credit account (10% off your first purchase!). I usually respond with something like "We already have a credit card, and she usually pays it. So I use cash for gifts."
