Did we see the same show?

I've never watched Dr. Phil before yesterday but I did hear about how he handled the MTF parent. It left me never wanting to make any effort whatsoever to watch his show. About as close as I've ever gotten to watching Dr Phil is seeing Frank Caliendo impersonate him, which is pretty funny.

But yesterday I decided to watch Phil in action expecting him to behave just as poorly as he did with the TG mom. But I never saw that because all he really did was moderate.

Now the mother of the 13 year old TG girl did express her anger at being put onto a stage with the two bigots who had been on a previous show about TG kids and it was nice to hear her vent at them. To his credit, Phil allowed her to say pretty much what she wanted. And overall I'd say the pro TG side got a lot better treatment than the anti-TG side.

The psychiatrist sitting next to Toni (the mom) made an excellent point when he said the anti-LGBT therapist was dead wrong suggesting kids are turned gay or trans if they have an over involved mother and the camera scan of the room showed a lot of women in full agreement of that.

From what I saw, the anti people walked away pretty beaten up. True to that type of person, they seemed unconvinced they are anything but right but they still got a lot of bad press.

I have a feeling Phil will be doing something like this again. He did say he'd have to increase bandwidth on his website because this subject gets a lot of people up in arms. I guess we'll see how the next one goes.

You do know he lives and dies on ratings, not approval.  And if you watch it, that a tick for him, no matter how much you hate what he says.  Do what Nichole suggests.  Blow up your TV.  Don't watch him.  Don't write about him.  Ignore him.  He might not go away, but the TV show sure as hell will.

The only channel I ever watch is History... Screw most other channels. Why should I waste my time?

I agree with this. I get mad at my mom when she watches trash-horrid tv, and she tells me to be quiet. I tell her that watching it is only making TV worse. Its sad she'd sink as low as, "Americas next top X,y,z, hippopotamus sex super mega show!"

You know... THOSE shows.

The only time I've seen Dr. Phullustuff is on the David Letterman show. I thought he was a comedian. But hurting families, especially young folk is wrong in my book. Those people will go home with that hurt inside. Maybe take it out on each other. Hopefully LOVE will prevail and they will comfort each other and grow stronger.

Well maybe people should just not go on his show. There wouldn't be family blow-outs on the scale of, "Hey we went on the effing show to solve our differences!" If my mom told me that I was to be on Jerry Springer, I would spit in her eye, and break something, and that'd be the end of it. I'd probably blow up her Tv. I'd take some styrofoam and gasoline, and make a television salad. Then I would send his television show my reply via the postal service, and send him a few anal beads or something and write, "These are for you. PS: Clean them first" (No, they wouldn't be used. Its just a fear tactic. Terrorism is lovely when there's no killing involved.)

If people didn't go on his show, or Maury, or Judge Judy, or any of those friggin  awful people, tv at that time of day wouldn't be such filth and I'd actually use the box for once.

I like your attitude, kid.

I'm looking for a mass murdering sidekick and you just may be the one.  Fill out an application and leave it at my office, will you?

Yes. The two of us would cut, burn, and mangle a path across this planet that will go unmatched for all eternity. Our anger will be seen from the moon.

This man needs to stop talking about Topics that he has absolutely no expertise on.

That would limit his shows to topics about fat bald guys.

Both he and his people chose who would be on and they picked the most ignorant it's a choice people to offer a counter view that they could find. So I wouldn't give him any credit on how the mother did she most likely surprised them with her ability to defend her child...

Of course they've picked the most ignorant people to be on. Anyone they approach to be on the show who has half a brain will say, "No, thank you."

Exactly what does your IQ have to be to get a call from like Dr. Phil or Jerry Springer and say: "Gee, sure I'll go on the show."  When in the history of mankind has that ever been a good choice?

Seconded. That was my first ever question regarding reality TV, or Jerry Springer.

How can you possibly ACT normal when there are cameras following your every move. You're going to act like a douche no matter how good a person you THOUGHT you were. You've already gone to the dark side by accepting, unless, of course you are a television terrorist, and brought something gross to throw at Phil.
