Listen, dude... unless your therapist is FtM, I highly doubt he/she really knows how it will affect you emotionally. Contrary to the popular belief of those who have no idea and no right to say anything in the first place, testosterone does NOT make you a robot, nor does it make you a jerk. I heard all the rumors before I started T, and all were quickly debunked after I'd been on it a bit.
People told me I'd never be able to cry again. 1) I definitely cry on T, and 2) my tears are always for more appropriate reasons, rather than being because my hormones are a little high or low, as it was before T. They told me I'd be an insufferable jackass with uncontrollable anger problems. 1) My anger problems that I'd been dealing with for probably a decade or more prior to starting T all but vanished. I actually ended up far calmer. 2) If I was a jackass on T, I was a jackass before.
Testosterone (or estrogen/progesterone) does not make you a different person. Now, you can choose to become a different person due to numerous factors from feeling more like yourself to thinking you should be someone else and acting accordingly. Honestly, the best way to look at it is that a change in hormones will change your physical appearance, but you are mostly in control of your emotions and mind.
