Hurray!!! Just got back from getting my ears pierced today. So I put my hair up and some lipstick to celebrate. Also my therapist has agreed to discuss my gender issues with me. Maybe now that I'm making some progress again it will help with my better mood

Woohoo! Congrats.

I want my ears done so badly.

It is sooooo worth it.

I've had mine for over a year and I love them. Love every pair I own. Just bought some new ones to wear to work at Sam Moon's. It is amazing what $3.50 spent well will do to ones self image.

I wanted to get mine done as a teenager. It only took thirty some odd years to get around to it. One more anxiety confronted and done with  ;)

True, I just love even looking at the studs in my ears and can hardly wait the three weeks to start experimenting  :)

I like my new piercings, but I'm worried about them getting infected

It's less painful than clip earrings, and with pierced you have more choice.

I'm a chandelier freak myself ;-)

Good for you, Virginia.  I'm especially happy for you about your therapist agreeing to discuss your gender issues with you. :eusa_clap:

I'm sure(?) whoever did the piercing told you how to take care of your ears during the healing.  I would spin the studs whenever I thought about it, to keep them from sticking into the crusties.  And I would clean the crusties with rubbing alcohol several times a day.  I've had pierced ears for 12 years and never had a problem with them other than trying to decide which earrings to wear. ;D

Enola Gay is correct. Less painful than clip earrings. Clean them several times a day at first with isopropyl and there will be no infection. Hypoallergenic earrings help. Once they are healed almost any earrings can be worn. You can find some very fun earrings now. I have a pair that are like little wind chimes. They jingle with a breeze. Fun!

I agree.

I had both my ears pierced during a make-up lesson at at TG boutique. Just simple golden studs, but I wear them daily. No one seemed to noticed, but I sure like them.

Thank You All for your replies  :) I am using the Isopropyl alcohol and turning the studs. But I did want to make sure about that. So again , Thank You  :)

Turning the studs is surprisingly fun. I think I'm developing a new habit

I was told, by a medical professional friend of mine that,
"You are better off using Hydrogen Peroxide because alcohol
only dries the germ out, where the peroxide kills".

Its a very small thing. Something unnoticeable but an important step somehow. It brings to earth that you are dong something to transition for real.

I'm noticing that when I use the Hydrogen Peroxide first and then the alcohol, Not only do I like the bubbly fizzy sounds of the peroxide, but the alcohol doesn't sting so much

I was told to beware of peroxide as it will also kill healthy tissue.

Congrats on getting your ears pierced, Virginia ^____^

I was never really interested in piercing my ears. I just wear the clip-on ones sometimes. My earlobes sometimes get *ahem* pimples in them so if I had ever pierced them it might cause more problems

Well, it's been one week now and so far so good. The initial swelling is starting to go down and I'm not really getting much if any crusty stuff. Also the alcohol is stinging less and less. I just have to remember not to bump them against things
