Melissa

This weekend, I went in to the mall for a makeup consultation at one of the makeup counters at Macy's I chose clinique, because I had previously used some hand-me-downs from my mother-in-law.  I had an appointment and went in and I didn't tell them I was TS or anything.  So we figured out my skin type.  As she was looking at it, she kept saying how I had such smooth skin.  The woman with whom I had made my appointment the night before was saying the same thing.  So I guess my is good even for a female. :D  Anyway, we applied a bunch of makeup and I ended up looking very good.  I did find out that not removing makeup at night ages your skin.

Well, I got a free gift for doing the consultation and I decided to purchase some makeup.  It's about 3-4 times as expensive as the drugstore brands.  Today I wore the makeup and it really is superior to the drug store brands.  You don't need to apply much to get it to show up.  Even the compact that the foundation (which cost $28) was really cool.  It has a nice large 4"x2" mirror on italong with a latex sponge for application that should last.  The blush came with a mirrored compact as well.  I got about 4 items and spent about $80 altogether adn along with the free samples, that gave me a lot to work with.  I even gathered together my hand-me-downs and found a nice shade of lipstick.  Anyway, I really happy with my new makeup and I'm starting to take more pride in my face and it is definitelty looking much better.  Oh, and the eyeliner doesn't smudge like the old one I used, which is really nice.

Hi Melissa,

Like everything in life.. you pay for quality.

I have two sets of make up, one for normal day use and a more expensive set (Clinique etc) for going out or business meetings.

The only thing I don't comprimise on is moisturizer as I think this is essential to a good skin care regime.

Melissa,

That's great!! My ex wife was the manager of the Estee Lauder counter at a local department store here. I was indeed in 7th heaven!!! ;D That was then, this is now. I attempt to purchase Estee Lauder,
Clinique,Perscriptives, etc. I combine it with some drug store brands so it works out pretty good.
Buying quality is indeed the better deal, the key is to part with that cash!! :D

In the video how to section of the board there is actually a vid of someone discussing some of the differences between "cheap" and not so cheap cosmetics.

I know.  That's a lot of the reason I decided to try it.

I have used Clinique in the past but something with my skin changed several years back and it just does not like their products.  I switched over to Covergirl at the time and while it is not the least expensive nor the cheapest out there, it is not that pricey but does a great job.  I can go for 15 hours and still have to use the makeup remover to get everything off.  That is a must in my usually non-stop life.

So how is it working for you?

The makeup is working well.  I'm actually having to work to not put it on too strongly as I had to with the other stuff.  I have noticed a marked improvement in my appearance and it doesn't seem like people are avoiding me anymore.
