Yeah, it's an issue... They told me 4-6 weeks. I tried after 3 and bled profusely. I tried another three weeks after that and everything went perfect. Now, after nearly four months, I change them all the time. I just went on my lunch break to get a new pair!!

Thanks for that info  The aftercare instructions I got said "Healing time, ears: 6-8 weeks", so I'll wait until then to be on the safe side. My brother in law's brother (my "other brother in law"?) took out a piercing early one time to dye his hair, and the piercing healed while it was out. I don't want to repeat his mistake.

Don't touch, except with sterile wipes. Wipe the piercing area with alcohol and or hydrogen peroxide at least twice a day. Never touch them with your fingers they WILL get infected. Mine did and I had to have antibiotics and nearly lost them

It takes a minimum of six weeks before you can change them.

Congratulations I love mine and I now have lots of earrings and really enjoy wearing different ones.

One advantage of working at a Hospital is that there is lots of alcohol/chlorhexadine hand wash lying around.
I had mine pierced at the local chemist's and gave my fingers a good splash of "Debug" every time before I turned the studs. They healed up in a week or so without any problems.

That's great that you got your ears pierced! I can't wait to get mine pierced too :3 i hope i don't have any trouble with them hurting though :/

It is a simple process. The second ear I had done when I was living in a tropical rain forest. High humidity and very subject to bacteria. I used isopropyl several times daily and had no problems. The "Secret" is being sanitary. In all aspects of life. By the way, just do it. Life is much easier and your choices in earrings are vast. I make custom earrings for those who are interested,

I've seen the comments about dangly ear rings, I still use clip-ons unfortuantely......But even so, what do you suppose it is about the dangly ear rings that make you feel more feminine? 

I'm not sure how to describe it, but the dangling ear rings def. look and feel very fem.

One of my best friends sent me some last week and I totally love the way they look and feel

They seem to frame my face in a way that sets off my fem. features nicely...  completing the picture

One theory is that the dangling part brushes an erogenous zone on a persons neck.

You feel the proper weight gently tugging on your ear, there is no pain, I use to get quite sore with clips. They swing gently, and stroke your face. They lie closer to you skin than clips (IMO). It just feels so damn sexy. And always even if in drab you are wearing ear rings when pierced. It gives a totally beautiful feel to your psyche.

I worried my self sick about getting my ears pierced. No one, absolutely NO ONE has said anything negative. And if they don't say it too me, I really don't give a damn what they say anywhere else.
Oh and BTW shopping for ear rings is somewhere between shoes, handbags lingerie and perfume. Not quite sure where

Issues at work?

lols mine ended up getting infected about six months in because I didn't take them out to clean them. They were really tight and I couldn't get them out so I kept putting it off. I ended up getting my mum to take them out SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PPPPPPAAIINNFFUULLL! The backs were really tight so I stopped wearing them and got a more manageable pair that were a lot looser, so loose one got pulled out in the shower! :O I found the back to it in between a tile ages after but not the front so next pair it was! My mum ended up recently buying the pair I always wanted the amethyst studs they're soooo good they make me look like the accessory >_<
She gave them to me when I was super high on pain killers so I have no idea where I put them :3

Yeah I learnt my lesson with earrings, I think not being used to handling such small little (so easy to drop down the plug hole) pieces of jewellery was a little off putting at first but now I'm much better at it and can get them in first try, so no longer than a month in and I'll take them out for a few days to clean!

I looked everywhere then remembered I have a handbag stuffed in my draw that I haven't used since I've been home, they were in their along with a few other things I've been looking for >_<

Something I've learned is to put the plug on the drain before I handle my silver studs... I have a small container I fill with rubbing alcohol that I soak the studs in

For things I can't soak because the stone or crystal etc. may come loose, I soak a Q-tip swab in rubbing alcohol and then push the posts into the center of the swab on each side... Then I can turn the swab back and forth to get the earrings and backings all nice and clean 

a funny thing i learned when i got my ear pierced a few months ago: don't ever twist the studs, it keeps your ears from healing as fast as they could, and the skin actually won't stick to them anyway. and of course you shouldn't touch them except a couple of times a day when you disinfect the holes

i only twisted mine after a couple of weeks, and they did turn round without any problems. i also changed one of them to an actual earring, as i got to piercings very close to each other. that let more air come to, something which helped the healing process a lot. for any sign of infection i'd use a liniment that's really meant for horses, but works well on humans too, it can cure any (minor) infection in just a couple of days

Yes I was told to rotate which was a very bad idea as they became infected and I had to go on antibiotics.

they only discovered recently that it's not much more than a myth that you have to rotate them. luckily the place where i got my ears pierced was up-to-date on this, and the studs were of surgical steel too, because some people could have an allergic reaction to another metal
