Well, I suppose one could use SMS to refer to the protocol, and "texting" to refer to the action of sending a text based message between mobile phones using the SMS protocol...

Like saying "I'll email you" as opposed to "I'll SMTP you". Which is actually kinda cool...I think I'll start doing that .
