I guess I'll be going to my sisters for xmas as far as I know it'll just be so we can open presents and just hang. I think I already have a idea of what she got me for xmas :/ she kinda spilled that she got me something I could use. And knowing her that could be anything from body wash to some really girly pjs or clothes :/ But anyway she better keep a leash on Jack (that's my nieces dog) cause if he tries to bite my daughter again I will bust his a double s.

I didn't know that about China Town. (Tekla, is there China Town in NY or are you talking LA? It is a good point. I wonder if in other midwest towns Chinese restaurants are open? Not everyone is lucky to have access to the big city. There are more stores open Christmas Day than there used to be. The poor economy will insure that I think.

My jewish friends always eat Chinese on Christmas Day, then usually go watch a movie.
Our biograhies are our own and we need to accept our own diversity without being ashamed that we're somehow not trans enough.

I think that's the Jewish tradition.

"kung pao and a movie" also known as "Kosher Xmas" round here (and for my ex who taught me about this in Chicago, her family did it when she was a kid, back in the 60s).  The funny thing about Christmas Story is that they are the only ones in there.  Any of the good places in SF, well you better be making reservations now 'cause you aren't just showing up and getting in.  The other funny thing is how much this deal in places with large Jewish populations (Bay Area, LA, NYC, Chicago, all of which have substantial Chinese populations) has become this strange bi-cultural support for two groups that didn't do that specific holiday.  It's a beautiful deal about some parts of America where the importance of how we intersect with other people, and other cultures is always there to see.

Also, FTR, the other big, huge bustling deal that is open on Xmas are the top line hotels.  Most serve a huge gluttonous banquet, and most of the services, the bar, a short order food place, the recreation stuff is all up and running.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

I'll probably be sitting at home, surfing the internet.

Well, we canceled my trip back home with my family ... it was a huge stressor for me ... and my mother responded to this email - after months of no responses to emails or phone calls.  Usually our family waits until everyone can get together - well she said they were going to have x-mas without us.  It kinda hurt but at least I won't be around that negative energy.

My wife's parents have both passed away and she doesn't have a strong relationship with her brother.  So, we are staying home with our kids and celebrating the day together.  It will be the first time in our 10 years relationship that we are not going somewhere for x-mas.

Rob, that sounds like a nice, relaxing way to spend the day.

I'll spend Christmas with my parents, aunt, and her boyfriend. If all goes well I'll speak on the phone to my grandparents for the first time since coming out. Mom and I are planning an Alice in Wonderland themed Christmas Eve Tea, the teas being a tradition... and they always end up being even better than Christmas itself. It will also be my first tea while on T, which I'm incredibly enthused about.

Rob, I'm sorry about your trip cancellation... but you're right, it's better to not be around negative energy. Going to my grandparents' house used to be a tradition, this year my grandmother's attitude made it too hard... sad to have happen, but it wouldn't be wise this year. I hope your small celebration goes well.  :)

I have been working on an old house built in 1820's and is very quaint yet was infested with squirrels etc when i bought it back in october. I have been puttying window panes 240 of them, plastering walls with holes 4ft by 6ft and installing wood stoves and repairing chimneys and rebuilding the front porch and many many things and well it looks like i may be moving in dec 23rd or the 24th. The house never had plumbing and has no electric on 2nd floor and is heated by wood and coal if i can get some soon. So this will be a happy christmas sitting next to the wood stove and not this ceramic heater in a 18ft camper brrr.. Yes christmas will be quaint. I'll light up some candles for the windows and light up some kerosene laterns and stoke the fires and feed my two cats who i took in and have run out all the squirrels etc. Yes it would be nice to have a visitor or two. I have had a father and a son here yesterday who painted two bedrooms while i continued spackling the kitchen getting ready to paint it. I have been busting my bunns every day now for 80 some days and well its coming to fruition.   anyone near central pa ??? It is surounded by 5 acres and a trout stream and the appalchian mountains and amish farms and the closest town is 2 miles away which hase one intersection with about 12 houses and a PO so yes it rural and quaint and well its the kind of place one thinks isn't still possible in todays world but i searched high and low all over the east coast to find this place 50 miles NW of harrisburg pa between harrisburg and state college Pa off route 322. anyone doing anything christmas or alone ?? I have a cute room for you to stay in and you will feel like your living in the 1800's..

PS: I do take care of my 88 yr old mother who is also here and loves the country and the simple life how about you ??

I am and will be staying away from home. I just can't bare to have to be someone I am not around them, especially when most of them know who I truly am. I'll just be with my partner and her family. They don't know so I still can't be myself but at least I won't have to look at the rejection in my own family's face.

It's increasingly looking like I shall be all by myself...not through choice but due to adverse weather and it being extremely likely that there won't be any trains running.

I are not a happy bunny indeed.

But...but... whole extra days to work on a giant snowman... not a compensation??

There is an informal group in town that gets together regularly for potluck suppers.  Most in the group are in their forties, I think, and the evenings are very low-key.  I'm friendly with a few in the group and have been invited to come to the Christmas potluck.  I think that I'll go.

I'll be seeing my close family on the 24th, and my mom's side on the 25th.  My dad's side doesn't get together anymore, which I'm actually not disappointed at all about.    It'll be the last year that they don't know me as Kay, so it'll likely be the last year I'm invited.  We'll see.  If my dad weren't there, I'd probably really look forward to going, rather than feeling wary about the whole thing as I usually do.
.
On the up-side, I'm doing a lot of baking this year, and I rather enjoy it.  Sugar cut-out cookies, PB Blossoms, Chocolate covered PB&nut balls, Almond Roca...even a Cheesecake.  :)     I guess it's my new hobby. :)
.
People are funny though.  After a year on HRT, close to done with electro, not really even trying to hide rather fem hair/nails/brows....and what do co-workers show their concern about?
.
"So 'Kay' (with a rather concerned look on their face) ....why are you making so many cookies?"   :eusa_eh:
.
Seriously?  :icon_blink:  That's what they notice and are worried about? Holiday cookies?
.
It's hard not to laugh at the absurdity of it all sometimes.

The forecast for Christmas Day in Adelaide  is now 35C. So while all my friends  in the UK, Europe and USA are freezing their protuberances off; Cindy will be sun-baking in her bikini, drinking ice cold champagne.
This message is of course sent with Christmas Cheer >:-)

Cindy; and pass the sunblock.

This year, my adopted mom and I are spending Christmas Eve and Day together. And we're having a couple trans friends over as well. I'm also spending the night at her house so Santa can come! lol.

I miss my biological family but I can't fix the fact that they disowned me so I'm trying to be happy with the family I DO have this year.
