Hey guys as the topic says do you think it's better to be skinny or to be curvy (and by curvy i don't mean fat)?  I decided to make this thread because just recently my therapist made a comment to me about my weight/figure, she said " You look great BUT maybe you should consider trying  to gain some weight towards your hips and thighs...you look alittle too skinny". This kinda bothered me cuz i REALLY love my skinny waistline but at the sametime i HATE not having that curvy hourglass figure. I'm scared to gain any weight cuz i know it's gonna go right to the spot i don't want it to like my stomach.

My weight runs from 143-145 pounds which isn't bad for my height at 5'9 but i do sometimes obsesse over it thinking i'm fat when i'm really not, i hope i'm not becoming anorexic or something.  ???

I'm terribly skinny, 110 pounds and 5'10.5". Actually, I would rather be curvy, even if I was a little fat. I see those tall models and some of them look really gross, but there's also really pretty and non-curvy women, like Asian women for example.

Haven't started HRT yet.

I'm 5'9'' and 158 lbs and I would prefer to be skinnier! XD I think the whole "grass is always greener on the other side" thing comes into play here. It seems to be that everyone always wants what they are not. What you should do is take a step back so you can get a realistic idea of yourself in your head and then judge what would be healthier for you. And what would be more natural looking.

Me too. This body is so thin and weak I hate it (in addition to the obvious reasons for hating it lol). Even my doctor says she is concerned, though it probably doesn't help that food is so expensive.

I would love to be curvy, but my body doesn't cooperate. My choice is either stay thin or become potbellied.

If I were guaranteed to get hips, I'd go eat a bowl of bacon right now!  :)

That's me too!  Weight doesn't distribute on my body, just hovers around the midsection while everything else remains stick-ish.

I have a friend whose pot bellied. Her hips are narrow but her boobs are fantastic.

If you want to look better in skirts and dresses, curvy. Otherwise, either thin (not skinny) or curvy (not obese) is fine as long as you have the soft plushy feel for your skin instead of the bony feel.

I was 141 lbs (5'10.75") but my face took a toll from the significant weight lost I had. I am now 153 lbs trying to gain more weight in hopes of filling in some spots to round out my face. The potbelly I have is a concern but genetic females also have them so as long as you do not look like you are pregnant with your belly you should be fine until swimsuit/intimate events.

I'm curvy and I like my figure. 195 lbs and 6'1". It's all in my thighs and hips though, I don't have much belly fat or a "gut". If you want to put on some curves try doing strength training for your legs and butt.

The whole point would be to gain muscle. You don't have to do anything that will make your upper body bulky, but if you want thicker thighs and butt without putting on fat, then you would have to work them out with strength training.

Skinny! I wanna rock a size 6p forever. Forget curves. I find skinny super sexy. I wouldn't mind having enough boobs to balance my frame but I'll go without if it means I can avoid ever getting the hips and thighs.

I love curves... I'd love to get a little fat and get rid of this muscle. 6' 200pnds and a 32" waistline... grrrr

I'm curvy, but I'm also a bit too heavy. I do, however, have a good hip to waist ratio, 0.78; and that gives me a pretty good hourglass look. I'm also running a 38b/38c - depending on the specific bra.

As far as I'm concerned it's totally a health issue.  I tend towards high cholesterol.
I'd like to have more of a waist, so I will be getting back into ice skating now that I have access to a rink again, it's is good for the lower body, although the balance needed means it's a whole body workout to.

Thin and curvy. Ideal measurements would be 34-24-34 which is hip to waist ratio 0.71. How thin you can be while retaining your curves would depend on your shoulder width - a broader shouldered woman could get to 38-24-34 and not look curvy. They would have to aim for 38-25-36 or something similar to retain proportions.

Personally I would SET* (not sex lol) a maximum ideal at 36" hip width, because after that is when fat starts to hang off and create awful looking shadows throughout the skin.

8888,
hm, seem you just quoted my size, 38-25-36. How's that?! :-)
Though am only 5' 6.5"

And I thought my 'can' was getting too big.
Not that I can do much about it.
E seems to have it's own mind - I started to notice.
Stop eating and gain weight, eh! Girly kummer... always talking diets...

Thank you for making me feel good right now.

Skinny. Right now I'm 6foot and weigh about 150. Right now though I am working on gaining weight at my legs.

I'd like to look like Madeleine Blomberg. Hence my name, along with me absolutely loving the show "Madeline" when I was younger. :) Hopefully I can pull it off the look! :)
