My fridge has started to freeze everything and doesn't seem to respond to the setting thingy. Is this terminal ???

Doesn't sound good. Have you had any thunderstorms lately?  Lots of things have microprocessors in them, and they don't like voltage spikes.

Have you tried turning it both up and down, in case something is physically stuck or loose?
Otherwise sounds like a job for a specialist, which could cost more than the fridge is worth.

It could be just a bad thermostat or switch. It sounds like it's cooling but not shutting that circuit off when it should. Have a service person look at it.
