Princess Rachel

minor spoilers

last night was so squeetastically brilliant, all the regulars were giving their A game and we finally get to see the birth of River Song (not Melody Pond, that was last episode) plus Hitler, tiny people inside a pretendy person spaceship and cameos by Rose, Martha & Donna as well as little Amelia, apparently the one person in the universe the Doctor can truly count on.  Roll on next saturday already, it's like being a kid again, the Doctor is back and the universe needs saving once again :)

tonight was good, the dad really was a good actor, a great match for Matt Smith who once again proved just how right he was for the role and just how great he's going to be in the future

The actor that played the Dad played that devil/policeman in the third series of Ashes to Ashes, was the best thing in that, better than Gene Hunt even.

I was pleased to be back in monster of the week land for a creepy one off.

tonight's episode was great, everyone gave a top drawer performance, especially Arthur who's Rory may never be the same again as I think something's broken between him and the Doctor and it may never be fixed again...

wow, strange episode last night, part cheap and cheerful monster of the week and part examination of the dangers of being one of the Doctor's friends, and the ending was frankly weak, why would parents who've had their baby kidnapped allow themselves to be fobbed off with a nice house and a sprts car?  I'm really hoping its a big fake-out by the Doctor and co

Notice how the cuddly minotaur's speech didn't (for a change) get translated by the Tardis? Oops.

And I know Amy has great legs, but I still wish Rory would shove her in the cupboard with Hitler and get a show of his own - he makes me weaker at the knees than she does, and I find her deeply annoying (actually, I find the schoolboy doctor equally so) ;D.

I think the lack of translation was meant to isolate the Doctor from the others, highlighting I guess that they were already being left behind

Sure, plot device > consistency every time :).

last nights ep felt like they told the wrong story, I was bored of Craig after 2 minutes and wanted to see a huge cyber-invasion story with loads of peril and a desperate fight to save humanity, instead it was 2 men and a baby in a shop, with nothing at all happening until the last 2 minutes when it went over to River Song being menaced/prepped for murder...

I tend to skip over any episodes involving Cybermen or the Daleks. Classic Doctor Who, but personally I think that any episode involving them ends up being some of the worst of the season. Ironically it seems that Russ Davies tends to write those... Did he write the new ep?

So far the second half of the season doesn't seem to be as good as the first...

Russell T Davies no longer works on Doctor Who, he moved to the states and has so far concentrated on new Torchwood.  Steven Moffat is in charge, writers include Mark Gattiss and Chris Chibnall.  There has been some critisism of the new series in the press but I enjoyed it.  There are many more Who addicts writing for the show and I can see attempts to try to up the age of the shows audience (perhaps like Harry Potter, the audience is getting older as the show progresses). There are also attempts to move the show from the Troughtonesque Russell T Davies series to a hinchcliffe/dicks inspired show.  if they succeed this will only be a good thing.

I do realize it's been a while since anyone posted here, but...YES.

I am very obsessed with Doctor Who  ;D I think Matt Smith is my favorite. I'm not quite sure why. Probably because bow ties are cool. I like the awesome awkwardness of his Doctor. Lots of people interpret him as asexual and I'm asexual as well, so that's nice to see. Also, Steven Moffat is a complete genius.

Discussions of sci fi on this board?

Color me not surprised.

I don't watch Red Dwarf or Dr. Who...

Thats it, I am starting a Woody Allen thread.

I'm in the middle of s4 of the new stuff and will watch s5 and s6 after s4.

The obligatory info:  Fav pairing is Rose and Ten.  I love Moffet.  Haven't seen Torchwood or SJA but want to.

I guessed from your username  :D It's very hard to get used to Eleven, but totally worth it! Ten is great too, though. I just wish Moffat could have written more episodes for him!

I prefer 9 with Rose, 10 and Rose were too smug together, I liked 10 with Donna most. I love 11 as well, and Rory but I don't like Amy much, so I am looking forward to the new companions and such.

But 7 and Ace have to be my pairing, 'Come on! We've got work to do.....'

Doctor Who is far more fantastical and deep down wonderful to just be sci-fi.

I'm a massive Who addict!
Favorite doctors are McCoy and Eccleston, though I have to admit, Matt Smith really grew on me. At first I really didn't like him, but now I find him utterly adorable. I love the way he's just so awkward. "She said you were a Mr. Hottie. She would like to go out with you for... Texting and scones."

I quite liked Amy and Rory though, but I'm really interested to find out what the go is with River. I actually really like her as a character, and once you get past her confusing timeline, she's pretty bada**.

I can't wait for the Christmas special.
  •

Princess Rachel

I'm hoping this christmas isn't another duff episode like last year's, they never focus on telling a story at x-mas only showing big cgi sequences, give me Blair Witch TARDIS everytime over that approach...
