Do meds like Finasteride and Dutasteride work on hairlines that barely receded? Will it make it even fuller before it receded?

Also does being on DHT blockers affect stuff like body hair and sex drive?

Duta works on receded hairlines as long as the loss has been somewhat recent. For example, if you've been bald for 15 years it may not work.

Also, I hadn't noticed any sex drive affects on dutas because I was HRT the same time.

My body hair as well as my facial hair had no effect on dutas.

As far as I'm aware, finasteride is less potent than dutasteride, and while I'm on it, it may have affected my sex drive. I'm not quite sure about it, though, because I'm also on spiro, which has a somewhat similar effect.

Body hair loss is a listed side effect when you're taking a dose which is higher than for hair loss recovery. As previously mentioned in another thread, I lost a bit of chest hair, it seems like it's slowly falling out but it's taking its sweet time. :-\

I'm in finesteride but no HRT. my sex drive has its good days and bad days.

I've never tried Finasteride, but have been on Avodart (Dutasteride) for about 1.5 years. I didn't have any recession (still pretty young), but my hair is much fuller now. Avodart has had little to zero affect on my functioning downstairs. Everything works like before... and no effect on body hair. HRT in general has had little affect on my body hair... thank god for laser hair removal.

I'm on the dose prescribed for prostrate problems not the lower hair loss dosage and my body hair has all but disappeared. I'm also on spiro but it wasn't doing much for body hair so we added this. I'm quite happy to see all this nasty body hair go away. It was all over my back and chest.. ewwwwww lol.

DHT makes some hair follicles go dormant, and kills some. So DHT-suppressants will wake up the dormant hairs, but not the dead ones.

If your HRT regime is such that you have no testosterone, then DHT-suppressants are redundant, because there's no DHT to suppress.

I think this is different from person to person. These don't block DHT, they prevent the conversion from normal T to DHT. I don't think anyone has zero T level nor would that be healthy. These will prevent the T you have in your system from being converted to DHT. I know I was on an "effective" dose of spiro but my body hair hadn't changed at all. Adding finisteride, at the dosage used for prostrate problems, has eliminated my body hair almost completely. I have read it blocks progesterone from doing it's thing too so might be something to consider if you are taking that. YMMV of course as with any hormones

I can say my MPB hasn't changed one iota, I didn't expect it to either given how long it's been dead.

Finasteride was a godsend for me - started to regrow hair in some areas (hairline TBD).  I'm quite happy I switched to Dutasteride after 3 months.  Both gave me a different libidal response but still quite functional.  Then I added spiro at a low dose, then increased.  This has had more of an effect on my traditional male function.  Still able to, but definitely changing.  Now I've added estrogen patches and am happily looking forward to the effects.  I've been excited about the changes (albeit minor) at each step.  I do worry about the social consequences of those who notice at the pool, etc.  But otherwise really excited!
