It's cold and windy here tonight, I made S.O.S.

I love spaghetti  :)   Well I kind of rediscovered it when I came across a really good meatball recipe

Yeah I actually always thought it was like tapioca or something myself.

Eating ramen. ;D

There was another thread that mentioned ramen.  I ate lots of instant ramen in college, but I still like it.

What I used to do was hard boil an egg ahead of time.  Then in the boiling water for the ramen noodles, I would add a cut up carrot, green onion, sliced radish, and some celery or bok choy.  Then I cut up the egg and added it after the noodles were cooked.  If I had enough money, I would buy and add a little baby shrimp or chicken.

Today, I cut back on the seasoning mix - a little too much salt for my health.

I like spaghetti too, but I think Devlyn was referring to creamed chip beef on toast

aka "sh!t on a shingle"

Just came to say that myself!

I love ramen, but I don't think I could handle it if I ate it with the seasoning packet rather than my own stuff. I usually put in green tea and lemon and ginger and maybe some other seasonings, plus broccoli or mushrooms or tvp if I can afford it. I save up the packets until I have a sack of them (which happens more quickly than I should admit) and then I give them away on craigslist. People love to cook with them. :)

Green tea, lemon and ginger? That sounds great!

I'll save the flavor packets and use them to season ground meat when making meatloaf. I find this works especially well with ground turkey, as that can be a bit bland.

LOL... That was my first guess   But then spaghetti was mentioned and I've been on an Italian food kick for awhile lately so I went with it  ;D

I remember SOS in navy bootcamp.  It was a tomato stew on toast and it was not bad.  I didn't have it aboard ship though.  I had leftover spaghetti tonight after digging out of this snowstorm.

I served on a "deep sea research vessel."

Every day (it seemed like) for breakfast on the hot plates were SOS, grits, oatmeal, and malt-o-meal.
Not to mention scrambled eggs made from powdered eggs and reconstituted milk.  When we could pick up fresh dairy at a port call, it was like heaven.

I was on an aircraft carrier.  Two mess areas on deck 1.  The forward mess served the smaller selections for breakfast, usually closed for lunch and dinner.  Oatmeal, Cream-o-Wheat, cold cereal in indivual boxes, fresh fruit.  The aft mess was the main one.  The aft mess served the bacon, eggs, pancakes, scrambled eggs, etc.  We had the powdered eggs, reconstituted milk and Tang away from shore.

CVs are like floating cities.  Thousands of crew members.

Yeah, we had Tang too, but also a pretty good supply of canned and bottled juices.

Just finished off some mixed Bhujas,  what my family called Joogoos.  Indian snack, chilli flavoured peas, peanuts and chick pea noodle things.  Addictive.

"Liver cheese"??

Is that like liverwurst, or more like head cheese?

I've had this before and I loved it. ;D

I'm eating really really spicy pad thai I found (boxed and wrapped) on the sink in the bathroom. I waited a bit, and it didn't look like anybody was coming back for it. My eyes are watering and my nose is running. Even my lips burn. ;D
