butch in the sack?  i dont really think a man bottoming means he is playing a " feminine role "  a guy can be really butch and enjoy being the bottom and a top can be feminine . it isnt that simple

I agree.
Dahlia has a point but she's making it seem like all TS admirers are this way.
I know two myself that are normal guys. They aren't macho douches, just regular guys that can dig lady peen.
One was completely hetero, the other was sexually turned on by both genders but could only be in a relationship with women.

Both liked me :3
So ya.

I've never totally bought into TS determinism. Everything is a choice, even when one of the options results in unhappiness. It doesn't matter why anyone transitions, as long as they come out the other side mentally healthy and regret free.
Started HRT in October, 2014. Orchiectomy in August, 2015. Full-time in July, 2016!

Pfft. Since when do you need a dick to top. :P

And even if you did, you can always buy one...

"Bottom" and "top" are gay male constructs which, to me, are completely irrelevant.

What strange world do you live in where queer women don't use those terms?

Hell, we have queer female-only vocabulary that incorporates them. "Stone," for example?

San Francisco.

Some people might consider San Francisco and Berkeley strange. I just consider the area normal.
I did not say that queer women don't use the terms--although butch/femme is the usual dichotomy- I said the terms were a gay male construct--which they are--and are irrelevant to me As well, the terms are heteronormative, phallocentric and contributory to male hegemony.

I saw that pic of them claiming it was them when they were 15 and I luled. It looks highly photoshopped.

Butch/femme is not the same thing... It can correlate but it doesn't have to. There are definitely butch bottoms and femme tops. Also switch and andro make neither of those a dichotomy exactly. I'm sure you probably know that...

*Shrug* You totally don't have to like them. That's cool. But it's odd to say they are phallocentric when you're talking about a situation without a dick. The words took a side trip through the BDSM community and acquired more of a "sexually dominant/aggressive," "sexually submissive/passive" meaning to them that queer women picked up. They are hardly penis-specific in that context. It's also a bit odd to say they are heteronormative in the same breath you point out they were originated by gay men.

I also find it strange that you list simply the fact that they come out of the male side of the queer community as a point against them. There is lots of word-sharing that goes on across the gender divide. Like "gay," for example.

But, like I said, you totally aren't required to like them or use them. There are plenty of terms in the queer community that I kind of hate.
