I was never embarrassed by having erections qua erections - I was embarrassed to be having erections caused by boys (and somehow assumed the difference was written on my forehead) :).
I remember watching a cartoon of a boy at the pool. They don't show whether he's looking at girls or boys, but he gets in erection in his swim trunks on the diving board, and he turns red and the voiceover explains what's going on.

Weirdly there was no discussion of actual sex or condoms, but the gym teacher did graphically describe masturbation to us. The phrase "bundle of nerve endings" stuck with me.

"Bundle of happy endings" :). Seriously though, I don't think I've ever in my life been embarrassed to have an erection - I've been too busy bring embarrassed by the feelings behind the erection. Shame is a hell of a drug.

When i was little i used to ask my sister
"When will i have to start wearing a bra?.
She replied "You're a boy you won't have to silly" i cried.
Back then in the 60s they had  those pointy nose cone bras.
I used to sneak up to my sis and poke them ;D

My puberty years were normal. Never had any gender issues until my mid fifties. I guess it was time for 'Gennee' to come out.

Dumb of me, I know, but whenever I hear someone say something like this, it's very validating. I've heard so many trans women talk about grade school desires for dresses, dolls, and pink decals on tricycles. Though it's absurd, I still find myself asking "I didn't have any of that, could I still be trans?"

Thanks for saying this Gennee, which is especially encouraging considering all the positive stories you share.
Have you read my short story The Eve of Triumph?

:o I am so glad I never had to wear one of those things.

Both me and my cis brother played with dolls and wore dresses and we're both boys.
