Quote from: Charlotte Kitty on Yesterday at 05:01:49 PMI wish i could take that weight from you for sure. Ive been on 3000 calories a day for a few weeks and not even 50g change in my weight. I can't figure it out. Makes no sense!
it's because you are running surely? you will have quite a lean body with muscles so your resting metabolic rate will be high even when you aren't running.

Only once a week! And my weight didn't reduce in my normal diet! I think its becausey heart rate is about 98bpm at rest. Think my body is inefficient so burns loads of energy!

Petunia

Have you had your blood pressure checked Charlotte?

You seem like you are pretty fit, running with the fast group, but a resting heart rate of 98 seems pretty high.

How high does it get when you run flat out?

98 bpm resting? That might explain the high metabolism but that seems very high Charlotte, it's verging on tachycardia. Have you spoken to your GP about that?

My heart rate is currently 70bpm but that is high for me because of weight. Normaly it's down at 60-65bpm.

As Petunia says have you had your blood pressure checked recently? I'm a little concered because you have been a little bit care free when it comes to medications and I don't just mean HRT.

Yes I am at 60/65 at rest, my blood pressure is on the high side but in the range for my age. Do you have a home pressure tester? the one from Boots is good and not expensive.

My heart rate was taken at the doctors. Blood pressure was normal. I might get a monitor as haven't checked for a few months. I've always been really restless and fidgety all the time so might be contributing. X

It's worth anybody getting a blood pressure monitor for the home Charlotte particularly if you ar on medications. I have one. They are cheap as chips from Boots, they record blood pressure and heartrate. I wouldn't rely on just a fitness tracker personally if that is what you are using. Keep a record for a week and see how your body is over a whole week, might not be anything to worry about but it's worth keeping tabs on it.

I don't even have a fitness tracker. Just flying blind unless I get a chekup at doctors.  I'll go and get a monitor as interesting too see if it changes with my running over time.

All my pre surgery checks in march were perfect at least.

Well I've been told to lie on my back with my feet up against a wall until I go to see a nurse practitioner about the fluid on my legs this morning. When I told them on the phone what my symptoms were they are worried it could be a circulation problem or an infection. Dr Google seems to think it is excercise vasculation, I agree but we will see who is right! I hope they don't say I've got to go to A & E, really can't be chewed with 4-5 hour wait in an A & E right now! I suppose you can't take risks if that is what they say I should do. I've taken the day off work on the sick for now.

It's put a total halt to work on my rennovation. At least the heating engineer is working there today. He says I will have heating and hot water at the two sinks but no shower by the end of the day. Progress at least.

I've chipped the plaster away on my chimney and there is no lintel in place there so I need a builder to do it properly. More bleeding expense! I thought I was going to be free of tradesmen but sadly not.

Definitely do it then Charlotte. They are really good to have for tracking general cardiovascular health anyway. Well worth the money. It's interesting apart from anything else.

Hmmm, been to see the nurse practitioner this morning who has booked me into a clinic this afternoon to have a scan and blood test for DVT (blood clots) 😬

She thinks it's unlikely but wants to get me checked out. Didn't have that on my card at the start of the week.

Better safe than sorry I suppose.

Hope it's not the meds!

Wow take care of your self I remember doing demo and remodeling work and there is all kinds of nasty stuff floating around. Make sure you wear a mask and gloves. You cant do it all in one day so take your time it will get done. And take care of your health!

Eek, Sarah, I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

Yeah, not ideal. My appointment is in half an hour. I'll pop an update on later.

I have had to do my own pressures and heart rates for years before doctor visits because I am way too nervous the moment I walk in to a medical setting... my normally 46-58 resting bpm is up around 90 and my sub 120/80 pressure will be crazy high... My fight or flight response kicks in good!... it was an issue with my annual work physicals so they started having me track it at home and bring in the readings!

Well as long as they work out what it is, my BIL is taking mums walk in round bath out. Last time it was used was when I went there after being kicked out of home, 9 1/2 years ago! He is fitting a shower but whoever put the bath in made a right pigs ear of it, also as he is using a low entry tray the waste pipe needs lowering and a new hole made in outside wall. Nothing is straight forward.

My doctor makes patients sit in a dark, quiet room for 15 minutes.  The machine is on a timer and takes three BP readings after you have been sitting there for a while.  It is pretty good for getting rid of that appointment stress factor.

They call that "white coat syndrome" over here Ashley, My mum totally has it. Everytime she goes her blood pressure and HR rocket so much they send her home with a BP monitor to record BP for a week!
