Dear Mandy

i truly hope you are feeling better today?

I would just like to add that you are no alone and even though there is little solace in my words, what you are going through is fairly normal for srs. We all suffer in different ways and to make what we once had into the thing of beauty it will eventually become was never gonig to be painless.

Just try to forget what has already happened and dwelling on that because it will just make things seem much worse and concentrate on your pain management, making sure you are inspected regular. Also ask the doctors / nursing staff what complications will look like so you know in your own mind what to look for. Also i asusme you are dilating now? make sure you never drop you guard and stop dilating just because it hurt, the next few months are the most important

This is all just part of you rights to passage, many of us have done this and i can tell you it does get better, much much better.

Form what you have say i suspect it is just the pain correct? the surgery went fine?

You will be fine you just need to try take deep breaths, get what rest you can and look to managing the discomforts, it is what we all had to do i can assure you and drive our loved ones to dispair with our complaining but life gets better.

We all had a few weeks of hell but out of that you are reborn, that is a small price to pay

Sending lots of happy thoughts

dr pichet said to not start dialating till i get home which i will catch plane on sunday night. he said had to heal first. i woke up about an hour ago in agonizing pain with cathedar area burning really bad thanks to a screw up the drs assistant ms tak called my cell phone so i had her cell phone number and gave her a call she was nice but said dont worry take more pain medication. i have blood and urine running down my legs and muscles feel what i can only describe as when u have to pee really bad and let it all go at once that quick fluctation motion. i tried to press cathedar back in lots of pain but no good. i will call back and ask her to come over i am sure this is common but no one prepared me for it and i am freaking out right now.

The extended on-going pain, caused by issues with the catheter is NOT normal, not that I have seen or heard of it in any case.
What is normal, that post-op due to trauma the wee function may not work as is should - I had this issue.
Also having a new catheter re-inserted ouuuuuuuuuuch, and when finally Dr Kunaporn did it ... NO PROBLEM!
My catheter then had to stay in for 2 more days --- BUT, no way any leaking of blood and urine down my legs.
So, it seems as we not all the same, some of us get the worse of it.
Yet ---- and THIS shall pass too.
We pray for you sweetie to get better real soon.
Hug,
Axélle

Hi Mandy,

First of all I am glad you are feeling better. Second, you are vomiting due to pain. You are at risk to enter a state of shock due to the severe pain. Call the doctor and tell them to give you stronger pain killers. They are paid to look after you, remember that. Demand to be seen by the anesthesiologist, to get the best possible pain medications.
Also not dilating until you get home? Why is that? You vagina can close. Is that doctor insane? Demand to dilate in front of him, to see how much depth you have.
Also call the US Embassy for assistance. You and your doctor have agreed to a fee. From your side you have paid the fee. Now your doctor must do what he has been paid for. They must look after you. Otherwise ask for your money back, to be able to afford proper aftercare with another doctor.
Also traveling in a terrible pain is not recommended. In the worst case postpone the flight and stay there as long as needed at expense of your doctor. The doctor's fee covers all the possible complications that may arise from the surgery.
Unfortunately there are mean doctors around. I had an experience of that kind. If they are mean be mean back. Tell them that you will call all the Thai media in front of his office and disclose your case in public. Usually private clinics are scared to death of bad media attention and they will do anything it takes to make you happy.
I am sorry again that you have to go through this, but I hope that others will learn from your experience.

Hi Mandy,

I am sorry to hear you are having such a terrible time with your complications.

I had my SRS with Dr Suporn, I appreciate that every surgeon has their
own specific dilation and recovery schedule. But I am really concerned for
you if you are instructed to not dilate till you return home.  Given everything
I was taught at the clinic and every experience I have read about, a week
without dilation right after SRS is not going to be good!

Dilation is difficult and usually painful.  I am sure the last thing that you want
right now is additional pain.  Inspite of that additonal pain.  If you don't dilate till
you get home who is going to teach you?  How will you know what is normal?
How will you know what potential depth you have?  Do you have the proper supplies
for dilation?

Have you done any dilation since the packing was removed?  Has the Dr or a nurse done
a dilation?  I don't want to alarm you but if you are not dilating by now I am very
concerned for a positive result.

I just re-read some of your posts and another thought came up.  Are you having
bowel movements?  How's that for a personal question?  Straining to have a bowel movement
is very bad for the sutures.  Make sure you are eating a high-fiber diet and probably adding
some stool softeners.  Stay hydrated!

I'm sending you positive energy for a healthy recovery.

Best Wishes,
Elaina

There is something seriously wrong with this Surgeon--if you can call him that--and his staff.  This guy should be shut down.  I'm sorry for what you are going through Mandy and you should demand better treatment.  DO NOT WAIT UNTIL YOU GET HOME TO DILATE!  Demand that a nurse will show you how to do this and to verify that all is OK.  This guy sounds like both a hack and an a$$hole!

Hi Mandy,

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. Please use the advice both Swan and Elaina have given you seriously. I know you have matters to attend to on your return, but it is IMPERATIVE you are in good heath and condition BEFORE you return.

A dear friend of mine who was in Thailand 12 months ago has just started her recovery AFTER extensive post operative work on her bladder at her expense, which was a direct result of a complication from the surgery. (Urethral stitching failure) If she'd have stayed as Swan is suggesting she would not have had to go through this 12 months of pain and agony, let alone the expense.

Lotsa huggs
Catherine

yes after reading you replys before you recently posted it sounded alot like my own surgery, however things do seem much worse they need to be showing you how to dilate, we had classes with Suporn and was dilating a week after surgery.

I very much doubt oyu should be waiting until you go home regardless of his technique. You paid so insist on the proper care

Hope you can have as restful night as possible.

I don't know the legal ramifications of changing doctors, it may create more problems than solve.

Clearly what needs to be done is:

You need DIRECT and IMMEDIATE access to the surgeon

NO assistants. NO nurses. You've paid your Doctor for a procedure that is verging on substantial failure. You must DEMAND proper clinical post operative care, NOT a hotel room.

You must DEMAND the UNDIVIDED attention of the consulting surgeon. NO ONE else.

Your health is at stake and MUST take PRECIDENT over everything else.

You MUST INSIST on these measures. Changing 'camps' WILL be to your detriment.

These demands must be made directly to your surgeon, clearly and succinctly.

Use Google translate so it is clearly understood

Hope you recover quickly

Huggs
