Actually, prior to the last 100 years Islamic nations were the most religiously tolerant.  Indeed, Persia had a policy of not intervening on matters of faith - it had a "state religion" (Islam) but it did not demand that any of its member states participate, and gave special protections to many alternate faiths (among them a form of Islamic Gnosticism that tought that Allah was a hateful god and Muhammed was his unwitting agent of sin).  When they honestly compare faiths, Jews and Muslims find that their only major difference lies Islam's recency (Islam mentions the virgin birth of Jesus in the Qu'ran, which is more recent than the Jewish holy texts).

This entire issue, though, doesn't surprise me.  They also stated that the WTC 9/11 attacks were God's judgement on the sinful, homosexually-tolerant ways of consumerist society.

Of course the Xians were doing the 100 Years War and Witchcraft Burnings, so being 'more' tolerant was not exactly a high bar.  In many, if not most areas, Islam has been a good influence on the places it existed in, but like all three of those Mideast Desert Religions, it has in it an edge, or a strain, that can be extremely fanatical and seems to thrive on violence.

A source for the claims of indoctrination?  Or for Hitler being a jerk? 

I don't have any specifics, but I'm always hearing claims coming out of Iran & other places that Hitler had the right of it in dealing with the Jews.  Since Muslims & Jews got along much better prior or WWII, maybe there's some truth to the idea that Nazi anti-Semitism is to blame for the hatred there today.

Prior to 1940-45

Up until World War II, violence in Palestine was sporadic, and intensified in relation to increased Jewish immigration as part of the Zionist movement, which sought to create a Jewish state in the Land of Israel. At the time, it had an overwhelmingly Arab population, however some cities, most notably Jerusalem, had a Jewish majority (see also Demographics of Jerusalem).

Jews settled in what was then part of the Ottoman Empire, which includes the modern day Gaza Strip, Jordan, Israel, and West Bank. They bought land for farming.

After 1917 and the Balfour Declaration, Arabs became concerned at the British support and influx of Jews, whose policy was to buy land and immigrate to what was then the British Mandate of Palestine. Initial violence was small and localised, such matters as new land purchases, or synagogue locations. After the 1920 Palestine riots, the Jewish community (Yishuv) set up its own defence irregulars, Haganah, and intelligence operation. The aim at this time was to gain foreknowledge of future attacks and be able to protect the Yishuv against such attacks.

Violence escalated in 1929 after confrontations between Jews and Arabs over control of the Western Wall of the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism and third holiest in Islam. After rumours that Arabs had been killed in one such confrontation, Arab riots broke out across Palestine. The worst affected localities were Hebron, where rioters killed 67 Jews, and Safed, where 18 Jews were killed and 80 wounded. A total of 133 Jews and 116 Arabs were killed during the unrest (the latter mostly by the British authorities).

The years 1930-1935 were marked by activities of the Black Hand Islamist militant organization led by Izz ad-Din al-Qassam who was killed by the British in 1935.

In 1936-1939, the Arabs - led by the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini - launched the Great Arab Revolt, a campaign of violent riots and attack on Jews - which lead to hundreds of casualties and ended after the British officers deported Husseini and hanged many rioters. While mainstream Zionism, represented by Vaad Leumi and the Haganah, practised the policy of Havlagah (restraint), Irgun chose to retaliate, furthering chaos in the region.

Most of the modern troubles began around 1880 or so, and intensified as the 20th century had it's violent and incomprehensible run. The ugliest of the antisemitism appeared around the same time as hitler.  Some Arabs actually went to him to learn tricks of the trade and to gain Germany's support.

Which of course implies that there were troubles before that, hence, not a modern problem at all, but hey, thanks for playing our game all of you.  This stuff goes back a long, long, long way - in nation's where history is something more than trivia questions to answer on some game show.  It's been there for a long, long time, and it runs very, very deep.

I don't think there's disagreement there, but honestly I think it runs deeper than a political play by Nazis. The Jew-hating portions of islamic society made common cause with the Nazis only because they also hated Jews and the British colonizing authority; as in the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
No doubt Hitler was an ass but to charge him with sparking the modern Arab-Israeli conflict... mmm no.

We did not exactly win that war by tossing love bombs at the Nazis.  The early Republicans promoted hatred of slavery, as well as slaveholders.  I don't think its as cut and dry as you seem to wish it to be.

I wasn't comparing warren to hitler (or NAZIs).  I was just trying to share what I read about Hitler having at least some connection to antisemitism in the middle east.  Somehow the subject came up.

Warren is just some guy with a different opinion than me.
