For me, it's currently once a week. I hate showering. As you can imagine, for me it's mostly the act of seeing myself naked for a prolonged period of time (any amount of time is too long tbh) that bothers me the most, though tbf there are other factors like eczema that make me reluctant to shower also. To be honest, I'd probably go for once a fortnight if I thought I could reasonably get away with it.
The idea of showering every day, or even every other day, just makes me shudder...
once a day, sometimes twice a day if I exercised or going on a date....
I am and American Girl...LOL
Once or twice a day. Depends on what I did that day.
I never kept track since it's completely random. Sometimes, I go without for 4 days. ???
Twice a day I'm at the gym just about everyday. I never gone more than a day without a shower in my life. :)

Once a day or every other day. I ripen with utter skankitude if I go more than two days without a shower.
You know, it's kind of funny, this is another thing that HRT has completely changed for me. I used to get such a "grimy" feeling after each day that I had to shower every single day otherwise I just felt gross. And if I didn't wash my hair every single day, I looked like a freaking greaser because it would get so oily and clumpy and gross.
Well, a little T-blocker and estrogen has changed everything. I've now gone up to 3 days between showers and hair-washings, and still felt almost completely clean. So now, although I usually do still shower every morning just because I really enjoy it, I have indeed skipped a few days recently, and not really felt any different than on the days that I did shower. So yeah, just one more thing about HRT that I love. I feel clean and pleasant again, instead of smelly and gross.

At least once per day, sometimes twice or more. Just depends. I don't wash my hair every time though, it doesn't get washed but about once a week cause its fine and prone to frizz, I just dampen it a tad in the mornings to get it back under control from sleeping.
Every morning. I've found it sometimes helps me wake up a bit before starting my day! Also, it helps get dents out of my hair from sleeping...

Maybe I should have pointed out that I'm still really early, too? I'm still chemically male for at least a little bit longer...
Every couple of days, it's better now than it used to be. But when I was younger it was awful. I couldn't stand to see myself naked, so I would go like a week and a half without showering. My parents would have to literally tell me to go take a shower :embarrassed: the depressive episodes probably had something to do with it too. Over time I just got used to it. Seeing my body and hating it. Still have to be clean :P
About every other day, but I do not wash my hair unless I have put a lot of junk in it (hairspray, hair dye, etc.) If you wash your hair to often, it will be come greasy looking and feeling.
Unfortunately, in my line of work, showers are needed nearly daily, weekends I'll shower Friday night, and won't again till Monday night...

I honestly don't mind showering. It helps wake me up in the morning, and is part of my daily routine. I mean, I'm right with you about really hating my body, but at the end of the day, no matter where I look I'm always going to see it, so I might as well take care of it properly. Though, I do admit that I get lazy on the weekends usually, and usually skip showers then, unless I do a lot of activity. Nothing is grosser than being able to smell your own body odor.

Definitely take a shower regularly people. I can't tell you how many times my big ol sniffer has been assaulted by other people's body odor when they come into the store and they are right there across the counter from me. Some are so bad, I have to step back a little and try not to breath. And don't expect deodorant, cologne or perfume to mask it, it usually doesn't.

For those of you that hate seeing your naked self,
Instead of skipping showers, and going out smelling bad..
why don't you just close the light?
Seriously.
Place your shampoo and soaps in line at the same spot in front of you,
and clean yourself. I recommend sitting at the bottom of the shower so you don't fall.
Also easier to find all your stuff. Have your towel right next to the shower as well.
Have a flashlight close by for an emergency, you're disoriented or when you're done and need to get out.
Bam! Problem solved.

That occurs to my hair no matter how little you wash my hair. :P I tried going every other day or even every three days for awhile when it came to washing my hair, but that never worked well because by the beginning of the second day my hair would look horrendous -- it's very greasy already and the only way to combat it is to wash it daily. Otherwise...it looks like you dunked my head in a vat of grease. But it runs in the family on my dad's side. It greases up real quick, especially when conditioner is involved.
Anyway...
I shower every day. Sometimes I'll go a day without showering, but overall I try to shower daily as I find that I just
feel gross if I go without washing my body daily. Plus...you know, bodies don't smell all that pleasant if you go too long without showering; I've never met anyone who smelled good upon the third day of not washing.
Kia Ora,
::) Only when it 'rains' ...Besides, only 'dirty' people need to wash ;)
Jokes aside...Once a day in the morning...Or occasionally if its been a humid day I might have a 'mandy' ie used in most hot Asian countries, a wash down use a bucket of water, very economical on water use but does the job...
I live on an island when most properties rely on rain water to fill their water tanks, and this summer has been the driest in thirty years, we haven't seen any rain worth writing home about in months...So water is scarce, we have to ration our supply...However there are bore water companies on the island who sell tanker loads, they're flat out and book up at lease a month...So in a sense the joke part could be serious, if we don't get rain soon...
BTW, too much washing/showering removes protective oils from the skin, so it pays not to shower too much and when you do you should use 'natural' soaps...

Same here. I've always felt that way. If I get a little bit of goo, or dirt or whatever on me, I'm immediately trying to wash it off. I hate feeling skuzzy. I guess it's just another one of those clues that I kind of ignored for thirty years that hinted that I was trans. I mean, other guys didn't mind getting dirty and sweaty and some even kind of reveled in it, and I never did. I always felt guilty about it, too, though I know I shouldn't have been.
I also immensely dislike the feeling of being dirty but at the same time I have great disdain at the feeling of having my skin wet so even though I feel so much better after a shower I dread the lead up to taking one.
I shower daily - sometimes twice a day.
I may not like all of my body, but I'd rather not smell funky or feel gross.
I take a shower every other day. Easier on the skin I've noticed. One thing that's new, is that my skin is pretty sensitive to hot water now. If it's too hot I'll break out
Thank goodness for hrt I couldn't stand my guy stink. Now I love the way I smell.

Every day, sometimes twice or three times. Shave once a day in the morning and wash my hair evertime I shower because if not, I start looking like Albet E. My job pertains to busting butt and sweating profusely for about an hour and then long periods of sitting in that sweat for sometimes up to 14 hours, I can't wear shorts. For me the romoval of body hair is also a necessity. I would rather have ingrown hairs from the shaving than bacterial infections from the hair not allowing the clothing to soak up the sweat. This next part sounds gross, I know, but without the hair I don't have to worry about fungal infections and when I do peel my clothes off, I don't stink as bad.

Same here as well... and again, maybe that is a clue... I HATED my "guy smell" and feeling oily and greasy and sweaty all the time. And honestly, when I originally hit puberty and suddenly started to have to wear deodorant, that was one of my first true dysphoric moments, where it was like "No! That's not me! I'm clean and smooth and pleasant, damn it! Not big and gross and hairy and smelly!" And now that I'm on HRT, I LOVE how soft and clean I feel all the time, and really love that clean feeling after showering. So again, it's usually every day for me, even though I technically don't really need it anymore. There's just something I LOVE about the feeling of hot water and soap on my increasingly-smooth skin.
Cassandra it is about once a week for me also, usually cause I just forget to but also due eczema issues(still don't know how my hands get dryer looking from the water, weird) and much like Crazy off the coast(is that right?) I will think of what I am typing as I do it but then sometimes words aren't there in the final statement/comment.
Every day. I produce quite a lot of grease so I need to wash frequently or I feel gross. That's one potential downside of T -- it tends to make guys produce more grease than pre-T, so if I'm this greasy now (seriously, "greasy" was even my nickname in primary school), I dread to think how slimy I'll get on T, hahah.
I don't mind seeing myself naked. I'm gynephilic enough that I just take advantage of the oppourtunity to touch some boobs, and ignore that they happen to be attached to me. When life gives you lemons..., right? ;)

You don't really need to justify it. I was just making a suggestion. The only reason I can think of for me to take two showers in one day is if I get really dirty working out (I work out twice per day) and have somewhere to go where I need to be "proper".
It's just that taking a shower before bed and then taking one when you wake up only makes sense if you sleep-walk in a mud pit or are a very sweaty sleeper.

No, not pig farming. But it was while I was active duty military so I often worked 24x7 and did participate in many, many activities that required me to constantly bathe. Plus, me taking more than one shower a day will not take water away from people on the other side of the planet that don't have any water. The only people it will take away from are those who are farther down the line from me going away from where the water is stored for my local area.

In the cooler months usually every 2 to 3 days. In the warmer months every day or every other day. Really, it depends on when I feel like I need one. I never smell unless I've been doing yard work or something. Electricity that heats the water isn't cheap.
I am a very clean person though. Hate getting my clothes dirty. Also, a shower is a MUST for me and my gf right before getting busy. I've been that way with every partner I've ever had.
Edit: After I started T it was daily because my hair was so greasy all of the time. Then I started breaking out on my face. I wasn't haven't that so I buzzed my head and so far it has solved the oil issue.

From age 11 on, it was probably once a week if that (or as long as I could manage). Even tried showering in the dark, but it freaked my mother out. I would get literally nauseous being naked or looking or feeling myself naked. The whole ordeal: from peeling off the clothes and the layers of spandex I used to bind with to getting in the shower, cleaning something out of a horror movie, to getting out and putting all those layers on again - was like climbing Mt. Everest. I held out as long as I could.
When I was a junkie, it was almost literally never. Months at a time in between. Except when I felt like going out and getting laid. I kind of enjoyed the rank crustiness, but a partner might not of.
After T and top surgery, you can't keep me from the shower. I shower or rinse off multiple times a day (don't use soap every time though). I never knew how good water felt until now. I can't stand feeling dirty or sweaty. Never bothered me before. No matter how bad it got. Weird.

In the summer here it gets very hot, so I'll bathe at least once a day and sometimes twice, if I have to walk around in the heat for too long.

I hate grime, sweat, smells and feeling dirty which is why I bath and shower as much as three or four times a week. If I exercise then a shower is immediately called for. I can't wash my hair more than every other day without making it utterly lifeless. I don't wear any anti-deodorant or perfume, but if get any hint of a whiff prematurely I'll sponge myself down. HRT really does kill all that sweat and grease in its tracks. Underwear has to be changed every day though. I'm pre-op, but post-op would make that multiple times a day. And I presume in the first months post-op there would be no limit to showering and bathing.

I personally hate baths because I just lay there seeing my body. Once I have SRS, I think I will enjoy baths. Until then I just avoid them as much as possible.

I used to shower every other day or every third day sometimes, and when I was really depressed I would leave it to every week or so. Since I've been on T I've found that I get rank pretty fast, so it's every day.
I don't like feeling freshly showered. It's softening, which for me is dysphoria-causing. Luckily my protective layer of grime is a particularly resilient one; two minutes in the barn and I'm dirty again, ah much better.
I don't mind being a little grimy either. I always hated bath time as a kid. I take a shower almost every day now (6 days a week) because I work out, but I hate how my hair feels so nice and fluffy after I shower.
I don't avoid showing when I am not working out because of my body,I just sometimes feel too busy to shower, and I kind of think ours over kill to shower daily if you don't have a job that gets you dirty our if you're not very sweaty.
I used to itch like crazy every time I took a bath. My parents thought it was a ploy or maybe all in my mind. A couple years ago I read an article in the paper about Aquagenic Pruritus and found out it is a real condition.

I used to share the bath water with my siblings when I was a kid. Bath once a week + swimming lessons. We were so poor. Almost Charlie and the Chocolate Factory poor. ;D
Quote from: DianaP on February 26, 2013, 03:12:21 PM
How would you test that? ???
Easy, plug the drain in the tub when you take your shower. See how much water is in there. Then, make each person after you keep the drain plugged. If the tub is less full than it would be had you taken a bath then you know you use less water. Make sure you take the first shower though. Otherwise you have to stand in every one elses filth.

Baths are gross! You sit in your own grime! :icon_blah:
If I take a bath, I shower first, then fill the tub with water, soak a long time while drinking, reading, etc.., then shower again when I'm done.

So they don't take into account the simultaneous drainage of water while the tub is filling...
I still prefer showers at most twice in one day. I still don't regularly bathe, though. Sorry, CATC. :P
It can get really random at times. But I try to keep at least once a day. I like the solitude, heat and water of the shower. It's really relaxing and gives me time to think.
I shower once a day. I like the feeling of being clean, and the nice relaxing hot water. Not stinking is good too.
Daily. I'd do it twice a day if I weren't so slow, and if showering weren't so tiring. It's not too bad. For some reason, whilst being naked, period, makes me feel awful, being naked in the shower, ever since erections have ceased to exist, doesn't really bother me.
Besides, ew, showering once a week, I wouldn't survive it. Because of the midterm school work rush, I skipped my shower this morning, and at 36 hours since my last shower, I already smell (mostly because tucking makes a warm area pretty close, and perspiration and such make bacteria develop), and my face is already showing signs of "wash me ASAP, or ingrowns and pimples are coming your way!"
Yeah, no. If you manage to put your mind on something else whilst showering, it should be okay. I'm a huge daze, so it's easy for me, but you could try things to keep your mind off your body. Bringing music and singing a lot, for example. Or always showering in the morning, when you're in a huge hurry. That's what I do, except that for me, the goal is to speed things up. (25 minutes instead of 40, whoo, ALMOST normal!)
I know I should take baths, but I can't. I'm just unable to clean myself if I'm soaked in water. All the cleaner just goes away, and I have to stand up to wash myself anyway. Not to mention all the disgusting stuff I may have on me (little black pieces from my socks for example) is just floating around; really disgusting. And finally, I need to empty the bath and use the shower to rinse anyway, because the water is soapy.
Oh yeah, and you always have two choices: nearly boil in the beginning, or freeze in the end, because it cools down so fast. I hate baths. Can't relax because you float or slip away, and have nowhere to put your head (or the air pillow just doesn't hold in place), can't wash yourself properly, can't sit properly, can't lie properly, and can't swim. Rwar.

im so on your side. i dont know about anyone else but the down stairs area can need some attention after a day of school work or gym. i mean after all the nether-yey-ha is a dark moist area. ???
I like to shower at night. I have this weird thing about going to bed "dirty". Not than I'm a dirty person. I do work out and in the summer I would definitely smell if I didn't shower daily though. I also find it relaxing. The shower is my decompression chamber and my go-to place when I'm upset or need to chill out alone. Somehow I don't find my dysphoria that bad in the shower. I don't like being naked if I'm not in the shower or bath though. Baths are awesome. All that said, sometimes I skip a day. When I go camping (like a weekend) I usually don't shower because a lot of the campgrounds don't have facilities but, it's camping! It's like a free pass to be one with nature ;)
I like baths... with bubbles.
I always shower after I go out riding because I can't stand the dried sweat, dirt and scent that comes with a hard work out in a dirt environment. Other than that though I don't really shower consistently.... For me it's not really associated with poor body image, I just don't really do it. I used to be because my hair was so long it took forever to dry and forever to re-style. Since I got a way more manageable hair cut (literally wake up and go) I've been increasing the amount of showers I take. Right now I'm unemployed and in between schools though, so I'm still only showering once maybe twice a week. Usually my hair starts too look greasy around day 6-7.
I dunno, I suspect I'll begin showering more frequently after my top surgery and when I go back to work and school. I do wear suits and waistcoats fairly often, kind of ruins the posh look if I've got greasy hair or don't feel clean. :)
every day I shower in the morning and take a bath in the evening.
honestly I like showers and love taking my baths. Doesn't hurt water is fixed price regardless of how much I used where I live.
I shower in the work mornings, a bath would take too long on top doing the usual make up routine. a nice relaxing bath at weekends after sleeping in late. In the summer i might have a quick shower or bath before bed though too, to feel fresh before climbing into bed
I so miss having a tub to soak in. I'd always end it with a quick shower to rinse off soap and whatever else ended up floating in that water. Nowadays I only have access to a shower. Depending on time of year and activity level, I'll shower daily or every other day.
ugh everyday how can you stand it?? so unpleasant!
once every 2-4 days, and I usually have to take baths, not that I like them I hate them and prefer showers but our shower is broken, the landlord refuses to fix the shower if you talk about reapirs with him he threatens to double the rent ¬.¬ Slumlords.
I sometimes wander off to visit my mum I get to use her shower there.
Oh I have those silly attachments that go on the bath taps but as we've found out the bath is improperly fitted to the wall aswell, water is prone to seeping through if water splashes on the far side of the bath.
At least twice a day and after every workout, which could make it up to 4 times.
I need to get some more soap as it doesn't last long.
Ever since I've been on E, I haven't really sweated as much, and thus I stink waaaay less than I used to! :)
However, I still shower every day and I could never go without! If I don't shower every day, I end up feeling oily at the end of the day... blech! :P Bodily cleanliness is quite important to me!
yeah i decided to ask around and find out how often people shower and i must admit i was surprised by some of the answers. but every girl i asked except for one all said 1-3 times a day. keep in mind that these girls are all at least slightly active. but they did all agree that they shower at least once a day so they can make sure the dont get un freash down in the lower area ???

I wouldn't mind having one of these bath tubs: http://www.signaturehardware.com/product7456?utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_source=google&utm_content=Bathroom-Bathtubs&adtype=pla&gclid=COHVsdj24bUCFUhV4AodLyUAFg (http://www.signaturehardware.com/product7456?utm_medium=shoppingengine&utm_source=google&utm_content=Bathroom-Bathtubs&adtype=pla&gclid=COHVsdj24bUCFUhV4AodLyUAFg)
It was weird. When I started HRT, I was put on finasteride with no estrogen for the first month. My body odor disappeared. I mean, I didn't even have to wear deodorant and my naughty bits didn't smell at all.
When I started estrogen, however, I started to funk up again. Everything started to smell again, but now it smells DIFFERENT.
As for showering, I don't know. Every other day? It's winter now so I don't sweat.
When I shower of course I change my cloths. I'm not putting dirty cloths on a clean body. That's gross .
Usually daily. I'm a nurse student so it's a big deal.
Sometimes like on days off when I have no reason to sweat I'll just do a washcloth quickie at the sink.
I shower everyday in the morning so I start the day nice and clean. I feel more confident when I smell like "mountain breeze" or whatever :P. After work and/or classes I usually work on my old cars. I get covered in grease, oil, gas, dirt, carb cleaner, everything, so I take a very thorough shower before I go to bed or before going out.
Something funny. A couple of days ago, I was really tired as the holiday started, just as I NEEDED to do the laundry because I was absolutely out of clothes, so no shower, because I had nothing to wear afterwards. Silly, I know, because dirty clothes on a clean body is still better than everything being dirty, but that's what happened anyway.
Add a bit of irresponsibility to the mix, and I found myself procrastinating/forgetting the laundry for four days. Which means I didn't change or shower for four days. To my surprise, apart from the bits down there that stunk whenever I went to the washroom, I never smelled at all. And even more to my surprise, my face's skin was so very clear after these days of dirtiness.
It taught me that my cleaning and moisturizing products are more awful than I thought. They're not supposed to be worse than staying dirty. :p
I shower twice a day once when I get up and again right before I go to bed. Sometimes I'll substitute a bath for a shower as I love to relax in the whirpool.
Depend ;D more times a day a washcloth quickie at the sink to keep parts fresh.
But minimal three times a week a shower.

I have to shower every day or my eczema gets out of control, I can't wait to get a place with a bath so I can resume using my bath oils, I use oilatum & it turns the water a milky white which prevents me from seeing the deformed bits through the water.
I lost my bikini bottoms the other week so wear underwear in the shower so I don't see what's hanging down there.
How bad is your eczema?
Have you tried Chinese herbal tea to clear your skin up?
It tastes like mud mixed with hot water & is expensive but it does work, I just can't afford the £50 per week price tag right now, as soon as i'm back in a job i'll resume it ASAP

I don't have a bath where I live but the best treatment for my skin is at least 20 minutes soaking in the bath, unfortunately I almost always fall asleep & wake up an hour later wrinkled & freezing cold, yuk.
I'm 6ft so my feet are against the wall which prevents me from going under in my sleep in case anyone was about to post about the dangers of drowning.
Once or twice a day depending on whether I have a hankering to workout and actually lose some of this weight.
I have to wash at least once a day. If I go to the gym I'll shower immediately after every workout, and I sometimes go to the gym twice a day. If I don't go to the gym I have to have a bath.
Unfortunately I'm naturally very sweaty so I don't have the luxury of not keeping on top of my personal hygiene. I start sweating by 8am and just get sweatier as the day goes on, so it's important to keep clean.

If you shower two three four times a day, do you change your clothes every time? That's a lot of clothes.
Usually when I'm in the shower more than once a day, I don't soap up every time. Just rinse and put back on the same clothes. If I soap up, it usually calls for fresh clothes. But that's really rare more than once a day.
Oh I don't always shower after working out, particularly in the winter. I've always got my window wide open, and the sweat just evaporates after a bit.
generally everyday exept when its weekend or I dont have anything to do.
if im not expecting to go outside then I can go 1-2 days without, depending how long im to stay at home.
if the weather is very cold I usunally shower 2 times a day to get warm.
Natkat, do you spend a lot of time outside? Because when the weather is really cold, personally, I generally just stay inside where it's nice and warm. o:
nothing like a hot shower in the morning and bath in the evening...any problem can be solved by soaking yourself in warm water, abeit temporarily.
I take one in the morning and one at night. And yes, I do tend to get a little funky as I sleep. >.<
I know it's probably weird/unusual but since my last post i've found I only show like once a week... I know the immediate response to that comment is "ewwww" but being out of school and not working right now means i'm not very motivated lol. But surprisingly by day 6-7 my hair is only JUST starting to get a bit greasy and I smell fine, at least to me and no one has ever commented on any smell. I do shave pretty much every other day though so i think the scent of my after shave aids in me smelling fresh. But yeah.... I dunno. I've read some scientific data that says shampoo it really friggin bad for your hair and I believe it. The day after my shower my scalp with be extremely dry and itchy but after a couple of days it feels better and my hair looks great. So yeah, I personally think showering exscessivly is far more harmful to ones health than doing it less frequently. We produce oils, it's the same as why you would never bath a dog every other day, it just rips the oils from the body, thus you produce more oils and thus you smell more and are more oily. If you start spreading out your showers more (you'll go through a weeks period of omg theres so much greasyness) you'll find you body relaxes and stops over-producing oil/grease and thus you smell better and your hair stays healthier!
However I do believe if you are meeting someone important you should really shower before hand and send to your over-all apperance as a whole.
Daily, at night. Sleeping on it ruins my hair, though; I may soon switch to mornings.

I'm a programmer... I don't go anywhere where I could get dirty! :P
It's better to do you hair at night and let your oils replenish before you start adding products to it and straighten it, you'll find you have way fewer split ends and healthier looking hair if you switch back to evening showers.
Me, I don't shower at night anymore because I'm too irresponsible and kept procrastinating it until it was time for bed, which, considering how my showers take me much longer than any normal person, hurt my sleep. In the morning, I can't really procrastinate this.
Once or twice a week for me, depending on what I have going on. I don't use shampoo, and am trying to wean myself off baking soda to water only. Saying that makes me feel a bit like a hippie, but I don't care.

It's more common than you'd think. I did water only a couple years ago when I had long hair and it worked amazingly until I went somewhere with hard water. Now I live where I used to again, so am going back to water only. There are a few things in normal shampoo that I don't like, and after a day of not washing I already have a weird scalp smell. That doesn't happen when I use baking soda. I've already gone a few days without washing and my head doesn't smell like anything. I do use a bit of tea tree oil in the baking soda mix for dandruff, and the conditioner I use is honey water with a tiny bit of white vinegar in it. I put some chamomile essential oil in that, and that is what my hair smells like.
Question. Does anyone else feel the need to shower twice a day to keep the lady parts super clean if you know what I mean?
I generally shower everyday, but whenever I get time really. My hours are messed up and my dad sleeps pretty close to the bathroom/there's not much hot water, so I shower whenever, but try to do it after work to stop me smelling of whatever food was floating around in the sink that day.

Feel the need, yes. 12 hours is more than enough for them to get yucky and smelly. But when you can't manage a shower faster than 30 minutes excluding drying up, etc. ... you just don't have the energy or patience to double the chore, and you endure the smell. Then in the morning it's -very- smelly and the shower is a big relief.
Also, not sure they can be called lady parts when they're actually gentleman parts, for me, so. :p We might not be talking about the same thing, really.

I used to shower every day... I still do if I'm going out. But it's not ideal because my skin gets so dry.
I think if showering makes your skin especially dry, the problem is not showering itself, but the details. Is your shower gel appropriate? Is your water hard? Do your moisturize properly afterwards? Is your skin well exfoliated? Etc.

Actually baking soda strips oil more than most shampoos, so you have to be really sparing with it. Washing hair and stripping oil often causes your scalp to produce even more oils, actually, so aside from the first month or two on water only, your hair actually becomes less oily.
I have some sort of african soap that's supposed to be good for acne prone skin (it doesn't seem to work much) that I use on my back and chest, I also use soap under my arms, but not on the rest of my body... well, maybe my butt. You're not supposed to use soap on your uh... parts... if you have a female anatomy down there... I think it's because it causes infections, but I don't remember for sure.
Salt... Uhm, isn't salt supposed to dry skin, actually? Dunno, the showers that have dried my skin so far were at my mother's, notably, where the water is hard, which means it contains a lot of mineral salts.
Usually every other day for me. Unless I've been sweating a lot (it gets hot here in the high desert).

Just wondering... wouldn't the tea tree oil kind of ruin the point of the baking soda?
And is it kinda like a dry shampoo? I always wanted to try one but my hair never gets oily lately anyway...
Nope... it's an essential oil and dries in a non-oily way, if that makes any sense. I know it probably doesn't, but I don't know how to describe it. Like if you put a drop on a piece of paper, it will completely evaporate without leaving an oil spot.
It's also not a dry shampoo. It's about a tablespoon of baking soda per cup of water to start with. Some people say that is too much baking soda, but I usually start with that much before weaning myself to less because I am worried about it not working and don't want to wash my hair twice if it doesn't. Then to my one cup of water/baking soda, I add two or three drops of the tea tree oil.
Corn starch (or probably other starches) can be used as a dry shampoo... but I've never tried it. I've heard if you're darker haired you want to mix cocoa with it first. Either way you just brush it through your hair and it's supposed to soak up oil.
Twice a day at least, morning & night. Going to go take a nice shower now.
Once every 2-5days
my theory is that some people shower more often simply because they like it. arguably the best time of my day is a hot shower/bath, some red wine and then just spread myself on the bed until i feel like moving again. just awesome...
Funny how the two extremes (not saying that in a pejorative way, just that it's apart from the average) are present here. From almost one a week to twice a day or more.
girl you look fierce: Seriously, unless it's -HOT-, heat alone shouldn't be really bad for your skin. I really think you should look for other problems that would dry your skin. It sounds like you'd need a pretty seriously bad skin for it to get dry from just that.
Nyri: Uhm, yeah, I don't use soap whatsoever. It stinks and it's bad for my skin. I try to choose a good non-soapy shower gel and a good face cleanser (still looking for the latter). As for the vulva, I think there are specific cleaners for there. Because if it's anything like my male parts, it would stink bad after just one day of only using water on it. I saw that once, "feminine cleaner". I didn't bother reading the bottle much, but I think it's for down there. And yeah, I think the reason not to use normal cleaners there is that it would damage the vaginal flora, leaving room for more harmful micro-organisms to settle in. Though honestly I haven't been taught much about the hygiene of a vulva, and I don't think I ever will - doesn't sound like a neo-vagina is very vulnerable once healed, since it's just a closed cavity.
Also, tea tree oil... I'm seriously not sure about its anti-dandruff properties. Or did I misunderstand? Because back when my hair was oily (before anti-androgens), I used a "purifying" shampoo with tea tree oil, and all it did was tremendously dry my hair (which was what I wanted). Using it when not needed/too often resulted in my hair being turned into straw. Anyway, it did nothing more than any shampoo on my dandruffs, for which I used T-Gel (coal tar shampoo - smells nasty, but works on dandruff, scalp pimples and yucky-coloured scalp crusts.
If any of these problems I used T-Gel for reminds you of something you're living, here's useful information: I discovered that most if not all of the problem was caused by leaving my hair to dry in the air, and sometimes even sleeping with wet hair. The locked-in humidity made my skin react badly. Since I started using a hair dryed all the time, the only times when those problems resurface and I have to use T-Gel again are when I leave my hair wet for too long.
milktea: I think there's also the important factor of how dirty people get. There are naturally clean people, like my ex-girlfriend, who didn't get particularly smelly, dirty or anything after nearly a week without showering and still had a good breath after 20 hours without brushing their teeth, and then there are naturally dirty people like me, who have bad breath just a few hours after brushing their teeth, have their private parts smell awful 12 hours after a shower and who get yucky pimples on their legs if they skip just a day or two of showering. At least I rarely ever stink of sweat even when sweating a lot. But I think that's mostly thanks to my antisudorific.
This topic was making me feel a bit dirty so I just took a shower. Feels good too, shower massage thingy, the nice hot water, the vibrating face scrubby thing...
Once a day. Because I do exercises in the evening, I normally put the shower at night. Actually in my showers, most time is used for washing hair though.
2 times a day. Once when i get up, and again before bed. And everytime after exercising.
But i have bright red and pink hair, so i go through a lot of dye!!
I have to shower every morning first thing. I have a couple friends who shower once every 2-3 days and you can't tell which is weird to me. I could never do that because I sweat a lot. I do physical labor all day at my job and work out 5 times a week. Even if I'm doing nothing that day though, I still start off with a shower. Quite often it's the best 10 minutes of my day.
Don't have a shower at my house, only a bath. I hate baths D:
Went to my Dad's today though, had a shower. Was good, makes it like 6 months or something?
Twice a day, when I get up then before bed
Twice, although the morning shower is more about wakeing up than cleaning. I get pretty dirty at work sometimes, so generally shower when I get home, or before bed, but not always (if I ws doing trim work, I prolly didnt get dirty)
Twice a day, shave every 3 days I am anal about being clean. Besides its hot in south Florida!
daily....or more often if I have been doing anything sweaty.
teri
Since HRT I don't really get odor much and has already been mentioned I hate looking at what's there but in cool weather it's once a day in hot weather up to seven times a day!
once or twice daily
I'm throwing in an extra shower before bed tonight so I can get bug spray off my arms.

^Cut the AC on!
I've started bathing daily now that I'm working out. Since I don't have much hair on my head (I have a high and tight cut right now) it doesn't take but five minutes to get in and out.
Might buy a bottle of the Men's 2 in 1 body and hair wash just to streamline the process even more.
Okay, I must be really gross considered to lots of people, but I shower/bathe only once a week.
Actually before then I just don't feel dirty, so... and I just hate doing it, but that has nothing or little to do with body image.
Every day...
I have a preference for the bath. But when I need to wash my hair will have a shower to do so. Something sensual about a bath and sometimes my older Italian Greyhound will come into the bathroom and I will give her a bath with me! Much as you might a baby or an inquisitive infant.

If our dogs - a boxer and whippet - wander into the bathroom when my mother's in the bath they both absolutely love licking the soap off her arms.

My apartment does not HAVE A/C it has a cooler, AND my last room mate stole my truck so I get everywhere by bicycle so lots of exercise (sweat) besides if it ever gets over 75 I just feel the need to shower more often to feel better. (which also means pulling the hearing aids off), plus around here spring is 80-95, summer is 105-115
Every day (and I am European - referring to some previous comments:P ) - mostly because I do 1,5 hours of cycling every working day and 1 h of jogging 3-4 times per week, so it is kinda mandatory.
Wow, you sure have time and motivation. I'm almost always dead after a 6-8-hour day. Well, doesn't help when your showers last almost a frigging hour, hurrying or not. Showering and washing oneself is tiresome. Sigh, I seriously deserve 48-hour days to compensate for my extreme slowness in everything. The world isn't fair. :c It's like those people who're top shape with like 4-5 hours of sleep or less. Their lives are, what, 25 % longer ? I'm the other extreme in that my life is like 60 % of other people's. Tops.

Most Ecuatorians do not bath every day...they are like the Europeans.
I don't know about Ecuatorians but are you sure about Europeans being like that? I'm European, Norwegian to be exact, and I shower at least once a day, as do most all people I know. I think you are clinging to some outdated stereotype about Europeans.
I used to live in the US and the shower/bathing habits over here are identical to what I personally experience here in my home country. I do however remember being lectured by Americans about what my home country (and the rest of Europe for that matter) and my culture was like. A lot seemed to think that Norway was some kind of 16th century feudal society where horse and buggy was the predominant mode of transportation. I would tell them this was not the case and that the standard of living in my home place was as high or higher than in the US. They would tell me I was obviously wrong. After all, these were self-evident truths we were talking about.
Ahaha, I can see what you're talking about. My region, a little oasis of civilization of no more than 150 000 people among the forest, somewhat far away from any other city, was thought of like that not long ago. When I was a child and the Internet was still not quite omniscient in families, I heard from "outsiders" (people from the bigger cities in the South) they thought we had no running water, electricity only in the very center of the main city and that almost everyone had a cow.
And I support what you say. From what I know, most of Europe is a much more "civilized" place than most of North America is. Never heard of people not washing much. Well, maybe I did hear that stereotype of a French man with sweat circles under his arms carrying a baguette bread under his arm. Can't check it because I only know Europeans through the Internet, but I'm pretty sure that's false. :p

Huh, its actually very simple for me :) I commute to work and back, so its roughly 45 + 45 mins, which can be used for burning calories or sitting on my butt :). As for jogging, I used to jog since I was in my early 20-ties and I really hated jogging when I was at school :P. When I need some more motivation I just turn on the Terminator soundtrack on my mp3 player and go on :) - it worked then, it still works now. Besides, my main motivation is - I want to be pretty :P and burn as much fat down as I can - and besides - being pretty goes fething well with the Terminator theme ;).
I believe, that You are so tired because now Your T must be pretty much down - I am still on spiro only and I can also sleep only 5 hours per day and feel good. But that does not necessarily mean that I will do something uselful during those remaining hours ;).
Ehm, no, I assure you, I've been a tired inefficient distracted slowpoke forever. In kintergarden the school director was waiting for me at the door every morning because he knew I was always late. And since puberty, and maybe even childhood - I don't remember - if you let me sleep without constraints, I'll sleep at least 8 hours; most likely 10 or more. It's not because of HRT. To be honest if anything it's given me a lot of energy.

Ha ha ha! ;D
I can get away without a shower or bath for a couple of days because it's very cold here and it rains a lot. But in summer, my whole house is air-conditioned, my car is air-conditioned, my office is air-conditioned, everywhere I go is. I'm always freezing! But lately, I've been doing cardio every morning in my home gym and even with the air-con turned to max, unfortunately, to my chagrin, I do in fact sweat..like a girl. That necessitates an immediate shower. It's quite a novelty though..the daily cardio.

I live 45 minutes away from most people on my college course, and they live in a more built up area. They're always ribbing me saying that we don't have houses where I live, and that we all drive tractors because some of our roads are single track and slightly bumpy. They seem to think that just because it's a bit more countryside than their area that it's something like the deep south of America years ago with outlaws and sheriffs on horseback. This is the UK we're talking about as well...
Oh and we all seem to shower everyday here.
Nicolette: Rather than the conditioned air, try a good old fan, pointed at you at max strength. Decreases wetness by a lot. And if, unlike me, you can manage having it behind you, on the ground and turned upwards, then it's gonna be even better because it'll allow the heat to flow up. Most effective if you wear a baggy-ish shirt though.

I think the sweat is more annoying than the pain. I wear a sports bra and jogging pants. All I need is a big fan and then to close my eyes and dream I'm cycling back in the Italian hills of Umbria. Static air is not nice at all. But I don't think I can do evening cardio again. Too easy to procrastinate and the body is primed to sleep. It's morning cardio and the reward is breakfast.
When I was depressed I would shower maybe once a week but then I started to get like a rash down there and so than I now shower once a day. I have to be clean.
Whoa, you're awesome. In the morning, myself, I deploy huge efforts to throw myself in the shower, get ready and eat. And more often than not I'm late even though I get up 1:45 before the bus passes.

??? an hour and 45 minutes to get ready? wow! I shower in 10, 15 if I luxuriate!, takes 5 to brush my teeth, and 5 to dress! 5 to pack my back pack and 5 to take my bike out the door! that is 35 max and I am not hurrying I can make it even faster if I have to! :) if I am in a real rush.
Yes. I'm abnormal. Be happy you're not me.
Once or twice a day for me, i love feeling clean and being able to wash off the stresses of life, besides taking a shower is a time for me where I can be alone and pamper myself so I take as much time as possible. My wife has commented lately about how long I have been in there for!! I didn't mention I was exfoliating, shaving my legs, under arms and pubic regions, plus plucking eye brows and moisturizing!!
I've actually had a few college friends who used to claim that they only needed to shower once every few days or once a week because they "didn't need to" or because they "felt clean" but they were so wrong... It was always painfully obvious when they had gone without a shower. Feeling clean and being clean are definitely not the same thing. I never had the heart to tell them though.
I like starting everyday fresh with a shower in the morning. Occasionally I'll shower at the end of the day before I go to sleep too depending on what I did that day. I can't imagine not being clean everyday. Even if I didn't have a shower or bath, I would probably try to steal some soap and find a lake or something equally as desperate.
When in stress, i shower every day.
Once or twice a day. But I only wash my hair every other day unless it starts to get greasy/grimy.
I'd soak in the tub IF I could easily find a tub that fit my tall body in it comfortably. ;)
Daily. Cleanliness is a non-negotiable. Even if after work I smell delicious. No one should smell this delicious.
The exception is my hair. I don't wash it often. If I do I look like a commercial from Pantene and this adorable corkscrew fringe disappears into an unmanageable, ticklish and itchy mess. So I wash it maybe three times a week at most.
Every night. I work on cars for a living, so not only am I always in the heat, I am always physically active. Plus I love to smell good. I can ignore my dysphoria in the shower. I just pretend everything is as it should be.
Every day after my morning exercise. Since HRT I dont feel so grimy and perhaps I could skip if I dont exercise
Usually 2-3x a week. I suffered eczema when I was young, that means I get used to shower very rare. And my work is not physically demanding... so I still usually don't stink or feel unclean after 3 days :D
I shower once a day the most of the time an when I been out in the heat an all sweaty I will shower again.
I shower every morning. If I get dirty throughout the day I'll take another shower. I never skip washing my hair, I always feel grimy if I do since hair seems to collect the most dirt

I can't remember the last time I showered... ???
I used to be like that. I think I did a proper shower once a year. Then a couple years ago I started taking a proper shower once every six months (I think). For the most part I just wash my armpits, under my chest and my privates. That's MAYBE once every couple weeks and I might take a proper shower once every couple months. But I don't stink....haven't been since I started using deodorant (which I didn't use until I was 16).
I'm really surprised at some of these answers. Days? A WEEK?! For me 12 hours is a long time, especially if I have been working or am going out of the house a while. Don't know if being pre transition is a factor but I have taken 2-3 showers/baths a day since forever.
During the summer, I shower pretty much daily-- I work at a summer camp and get pretty muddy and sweaty and gross in very short order. During the colder/less active months, I usually shower every other day. Before I started T, I frequently went 3 days sans-shower... now I get sweaty and smelly if I wait more than 48 hours.
At least every other night, but I try to shower every night. I guess I shower at night since I somehow get very dirty during the day, so seems pointless to shower in the morning, and I will be clean when I got to bed, plus at night I get to stay in for like 15-30min since I wait until about 9pm, when my family goes to bed. Wash my hair every time I shower because if I don't, my hair starts to curl and it looks weird to only have one side of my hair to be curly while my other side is almost straight... maybe after my hair gets longer I will slow down on washing my hair.
Though I am trying to get into a habit of cold showers since it has been really hot lately, and I also didn't enjoy sweating in the shower. I also just like to feel clean and smell good(helps me feel better about myself, better when people tell me I smell good). Oh, and if I don't shower often, I get cysts behind my earlobes, but I have never had to worry about acne much :)
I try to every day, but sometimes I can't really handle seeing my body for that long.

Wow... You're really sensitive to heat. Might I suggest a fan? Usually 30 °C is more or less where I turn the fan on, and with it, I can easily be fine and sweat little if at all, as long as I don't move a lot, until it reaches 40 °C. (FYI, in 90 °F is ~35 °C). Fans are awesomely effective.
At least once every day
I usually shower daily, but with my hot water heater broken, it can be as often as once a week. I have to boil water and sponge bath till I get the funds to fix it. With my hair, and shaving, it takes almost 2 hours. My body hair isnt thick or anything, but my legs are pretty long and its easy to miss spots. Lots of touchups!
3-4 times a week for me. I have dry skin, and the water is really hard here, so just being under the hot water will dry me out like no tomorrow. I can't get my hair even the tiniest bit wet, either, otherwise it gets greasy, so there's no point unless I go through the motions of shampooing/conditioning it. Besides, my best hair comes after at least 12 hours after showering anyways.
If I didn't have to worry about shaving, I could possibly go for longer tbh. :P
Once a year, on christmas. I like my skin to have its own flavour. The smell ages like a fine wine. And after i'm done showering (takes about a day, so christmas starts a day late in my house), i vacuum up all the excess skin and call some protection agency to decontaminate the building in time.
"obviously kidding"
Nah, i shower at least every two days and more when i'm not well mentally, to wash my mental troubles away for a bit.
once or twice a day. Sometimes in the Georgia summer heat its almost necessary to just jump in for a rinse off when you get home from class or something.
Once a day but only wash my hair every other day.
I shower every day, but I only wash my hair every other day when its dyed. How do some people not shower for weeks or longer??? I absolutely don't understand that.
Some people just don't get dirty. I envy them. I start smelling weird when I put my pants down after a bit less than 24 hours after a shower.
Also, I wash my hair every, uh. Week, basically. I wonder if it makes me weird. I want to minimize damage, so.
In my case, I would normally take a shower every day. A few years ago, when I was single, I showered twice a day sometimes. But now, the act of having a full time job with overtime (I'm out 14 hours a day), and trying to balance out time for my marriage, and my kid... well, what do you skip out on? I even use the bathroom at work for the majority of my ahem... other things that take more than five minutes.
Usually, my showers are 15 minutes, and the entire process of showering, drying off, and putting on clothes takes a half hour. Without a hot water heater, it takes 2-3 hours to boil enough hot water to wash and rinse my hair.
So for me, the lack of showering is due to a balancing act and unfortunate circumstances. When i was in college, I had no excuse. I was just a dirty guy with greasy hair, and I didn't know I was dirty until facebook was invented, and pictures of me started popping up here and there.
Ack. You're not gonna turn into a puddle from exhaustion, are you? :c Don't overwork yourself.
For me its twice a day. As for my hair, I wash it 3 times a week because I running 3 times a week now. Before I started running again a few months ago, I could get away with wash my hair once a week before though.
About once a day - and my skin, hair and overall health has improved since I installed a Vitamin C water filter for removing Chlorine and Chloramines.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOGrEgr3wSc
I have to take a shower if I am going to go out. If I'm not leaving the house, I usually take a shower at night, but normally I take a shower every morning.
When I start to smell badly ;) - No really it is a matter of weather, personal condition and such. I dont like to shower daily as it makes my skin itchy. So in summer it can be that I shower daily if it is hot and I am a lot outside. In winter I can go without a shower for half a week or even a week if I am really lazy. I wash hair only once a week. I have rather dry hair that looks best between day 2 and 7 after washing. Also I dont want to damage it or the skin on my head. Plus I get headaches and sinusitis rather easily after washing hair and going to bed with still damp hair.
I don't think you're supposed to go to bed with your hair wet. Whenever I do (or even if it's just slightly damp in the rear) my scalp will usually start to stink and produce either pimples, either a disgusting crust. Ew.
Anyway, I just always blow dry my hair when it's wet or damp (which is sadly almost every shower - my shower has a wide jet that can't be tilted downwards much and a very high pressure, so I usually can't keep my hair completely dry). Using that expensive shampoo and hair treatment and washing my hair only once a week (sometimes even less often depending on laziness) mostly counteracts the bad effects of daily blow-drying.
blow drying is even worse for the hair than going to bet with damp hair. Blow drying daily would be horrible - my hair would look horrible every day. No - I stick to doing that once a week - I dont trust all the expensive hair repair products. Often they last only until the next shower. No, I think my hair is fine as it is with a shower weekly - it does not smell either and only after 2 weeks it starts to look bad. Of course I do shower the hair if I happen to get dirty even if the week is not over ;)
Heh. Well I think most people don't get a rotting scalp from it, too. :p
I try to shower at least every other day but sometimes I do it daily because I feel icky. :P That happens especially in the summer when it's hot and humid, and I turn into a sweaty lump of biomass.
Buuuut thanks to my tendency to forget myself in front of TV+PS3, I have been known to go without a shower for a week or so. <hides in a pepsi can>

I was reading soem intersting statistics, LOL, Did you know that the average German woman changes her undies 3 times a week, while the agerage German man does twice a week....LOL
hey, these are cultural things..I am not critizing anyone, OK?
That's gross either way. I'm pre everything but shower, can't stand a day without showering- I workout and work so I can't stay stinky plus our bodies sweat even when we're not doing anything.
If we're talking about cultural problems with hygiene, there's one that bothers me particularly. For some African cultures, your body odour is your soul. If you don't smell, you don't have a soul. I don't know if they don't wash themselves much or if they just sweat a lot and don't use any anti-perspirant, but seriously, there was a girl in my French class last term... she was all prettied up, with make-up, groomed hair and nice clothes... but she would STINK enough to be very disturbing from the other end of the class. And she didn't seem to realize it or smell herself at all. x.x I never dared to tell her, but the temptation was strong.
There was this guy I used to live with that SMELLED. So one day I was like "You really need to shower... and not just once. You need to do it at least once a day for a while."
So he comes back from a shower, and it looks like he just kinda stood under a hose for a minute. He didn't even bother to dry off. He smelled like a wet version of the way he smelled before. He sat on the couch across the room next to an open window, and the wind blew... I almost lost my lunch.
I just don't wanna turn into THAT person.
Also, I had another housemate who would open the door to his room, and the smell would just fall down the stairs and destroy the livingroom. I swear, the walls were peeling.
I will never live in a frat house again. This was a frat house that was converted into co-ed student housing, granted, but there were still 17 gamers living in the same house, with 2 bathrooms, and 3 common areas. My ex and I were the only ones who showered regularly. Oh the fruitfly nightmares...
Eww, fane. sounds bad. No, excessive smell is not good. If personal activity and climate do require showers then definitely they are needed. I prefer not to wash hair more than weekly though. Its hard enough to keep them in shape without drenching them in a dozen chemicals ;)
Gamers are probably the worst. I remember the smell of 6 roleplaying gamers sitting in the basement for hours rollin dice and all as I was part of that - very distinct smell I never smelled again - and desparatly needind an open window and some showers for the people ;)
Everyday just out of habit, otherwise I'd let myself go, i have little to no care for how i look now, only the future.
By the way, I don't think the term "gamer" applies outside video games.
But uh. Is it normal that all the gamers I know are clean? Ahaha.
Every day, but I'm running everyday for 1 hour, so this is essential.
When needed. Love lavender bubble baths with scented candles though!
At least once daily. I could never go a few days without showering unless I had to. Back in the 90's I lived in bombed out Bosnia and my parents couldn't pay for a lot of
hot water so I used to shower once a week during winter. I thought it was gross.

The typical gamer I'm talking about is the one that sits in front of the computer all day playing some kind of MMO (WOW, Star Wars, Everquest, etc.) and can't be bothered with any real life activities, like basic hygine, eating something that requires more than warming up your food/ordering out, and socialization. The combination of the three problems results in a malnourished smelly person who is socially awkward. I was one of those, and realized it before college. Good times.
Ah, makes sense if they can't be bothered with school, which would explain how I haven't met any. Well, there was ONE, but I'm not even sure he was much of a gamer. He was just the undescribably repulsive guy who didn't help his cause by masturbating in music class.
I take a shower every morning. I tend to feel really dirty if I haven't taken a shower.
Sometimes I'll take a shower in the evening as well.
I can't stand going to bed without having had at least one shower that day.
Everyday, I don't like feeling "dirty" and if I don't take a shower one day I feel really icky.
When I am working in the lab with toxic stuff I shower every evening, otherwise less, I prefer looong bubble baths though
Once a day at least, mornings or nights depending on the amount of time available the next morning. Add an additional shower after evening gym, or any situation that has made me sweat.
I shower once per day as this gets me awake. I'm like a zombie before shower.
But since I learned that the body - mostly the skin - doesn't like too much of the soap or shower gel, I reduced using it. So every other day I'm just using pure water and nothing else.
I heard that it would be beneficial for the skin to just shower once a month or less. Okay, that's not really an option...
Actually, not showering causes rashes so going a month without a shower is not only stinky, it would be irritating to your skin. Showering too often can also cause rashes. I think that different people may need to shower more or less often than others. I also think men need to shower more than women. Every other day works for me unless I have an unusually sweaty day. I do wash up between showers though.
I'm kind of backward I guess... I used to shower as infrequently as I could get away with. I just didn't care for, or about my body. At all. It was, no doubt, gender-related, but at the time I just put it down to not caring about much of anything.
Now that I've finally admitted to myself I've been female all along, and that I'm stuck with this body and will be making improvements in it (kind of like finding you can't sell a house, so you remodel instead of getting a new one) I've found myself taking *much* better care of myself. While I don't like what I see "down there", I realize that that skin will come in very handy for eventual SRS, so I take good care of it, too. ;)
I can't wait for HRT... maybe the boob fairy will be kind to me and give me something to block my view of the nether regions. :)
So yeah, while the dysphoria is worse now, I'm showering nearly every day... although, if I can, I greatly prefer a bubble bath and dim light so I can relax, inhale glorious scents, and pretend for a while...
Daily, sometimes more than daily. The disgusting feeling I get on my skin beats the disgust I get when seeing myself naked.

In the bath is one of the few times I truly feel feminine with this body.
Bubble baths are great! Pre tranistion I did that really long with candles and herb oils and meditative music and I just pretended as well. Tucking in the bathtub was a good aid at that back then. Hehe - yeah - I remember at that time for the first time actually thinking about how it would be to be with a guy when I would be a girl. I was a teenager then. Weird - I never really did try that for real later on...
not one of my favourite activities but i have to shower daily, as it's a hot country and you'll smell like a pig if you don't. sometimes i skip a day or to when i don't have to go out. the basic reason i don't like having showers is that i don't like undressing part, i don't like undressing as a whole, getting down to the female undies is not very comforting. once under the shower i'd spend the whole day under it, as it's one of the few opportunities i get to be completely alone. i wouldn't tilt my head below 10 degrees above the horizontal though, except when i apply soap. also i always wear a pair of shorts when i shower. i get over the dysphoria by imagining all kinds of things, and often forget whether i applied soap or not.

Same here. I run through my mega bottle of soap/shampoo so fast because I can never remember where I put soap because I'm off dreaming in femme land.
I shower three times a week, but what I really enjoy is sitting in a roman tub with hot water all the way up to my neck and just meditating right there with the steam billowing around me. :icon_woowoo:
At least a short shower clean off after daily dilation, but I can use it to shave the remainder of remainders, and arm pits too. Hair is one wash per week and a rinse out at half that. As a postie, sitz baths once a week at least too. Like the OP of this thread I did have eczema for years that made life miserable and showers kind of gross too, but that stuff cleared up a few years ago when a blood condition was found and treated, and then when I began HRT.
This topic has been around for a while, so here's my contribution.
Normal shower, every day give or take, definitely for work. Soap, shampoo, just cleaning up really.
When I'm dressing, I have the shower as a key rescue plan. If anything goes wrong, like the wife or inlaws or kids unexpectedly returning home, I can be in that shower (which I keep running low through my dressing, along with a packet of makeup removers in there) in ten seconds. Hear people coming, stuff all makeup into its box, wigs fold and put in the box, snap it shut, stuff under sink. Clothes pulled off and into the same box. I'll organize it later. Then naked in the shower, I ramp it up to full and scrub my face until it's clear of makeup. Not perfect, but it hides the makeup, the clothes, and puts me in the shower to finish up.
Gotta have a plan, right?
I'm a bit of a clean freak lol. I HAVE to shower daily, and when the water was included in the rent of my last apartment, sometimes it was twice a day. And I shampoo/condition daily as well. If I don't my hair gets really greasy. :( I don't mind it though except for how long it takes. Scrubbing with a facial cleanser, washing and rinsing my hair, scrubbin' mah bod', shaving (about once a week), then wringing my hair out, drying off, blow-drying, and brushing my hair. Takes anywhere from an hour to an hour and a half. >.> Ugh, and then there's my brother. Showers once a week, 5 mins total. >.<
Im a showerholic. I shower 2 or 3 times a day. When I wake up, after I work out, and 2 hours before I sleep

That brings fond memories from when I still lived with my parents - I used to fill the tub, "borrow" my sister's herb oils and other bath products (I especially like the bubbly stuff), and just completely escape this world for a while.
Then I'd take a shower, use masculine-smelling soap and shampoo, and make sure no traces of feminine scent was left, to avoid comments from my parents :( I'm increasingly amazed by the fact that I at the same time was in complete denial.
These days, I sadly don't have a tub. I shower every day before leaving home, because I simply hate the "man smell" I get when I don't. While still using masculine products to avoid suspicion (I won't be coming out for a long while yet), I prefer that smell over the "natural" smell. I also shower after going to the gym, which is usually twice a week.
a nice hot bath once a day...sometime with a bath bomb or salts and just drift off for a bit...love them during the winter!
Every night for me! Probably twice in the summer :)
Longest I've gone without has been three days. I work a graveyard shift so when I get home at 7am I usually throw some pajama pants on and go to sleep then when I wake up (about 3or 4 in the afternoon) I usually have to go somewhere quick before they close so I just throw on the first jeans I find and a shirt and go. When I do this my girlfriend tells me I'm such a typical guy lol

This isnt about you showering, lol. But I love the shirt in the Avatar of yours. :) But yeah, plenty of my guy friends don't care if they shower everyday. ewww. Only if men had the sense of smell us women do, men might take a shower more often. :)

hahaha as a joke I asked one of my guy friends how a guy should smell and his response was "Leather, outdoors, sweat" I then asked my girlfriend the same question she said "Fresh, clean, with a spritz of cologne maybe". I think thats the problem guy and gals have two totally different views on how we should smell lol

I completely agree with your girlfriend. :) Men expect us to be clean and smell good, yes? Why can't we ask the same of men?
Im not going to say how long I have gone w/o a shower before, but in the military, easily more than a couple days.
Every other day to 3 days. Depends on what I've been doing and what I plan on doing. xD

Yes I guess so. I try to shower everyday, but somedays the warmth of a comfy bed and gravity just doesn't let me get up to shower lol

I love my warm cozzy bed too, but my hot shower is like my coffee since I dont drink coffee. If I dont have my hot shower, I am a complete bitch for most of the day!

My sense of smell heightened as well, sure you might smell more unpleasant smells now, but think of all the lovely smells you get as well. I count my heightened sense of smell a blessing.
2 or 3 times a day :)
I usually shower every day unless I spend the night at my sisters house then I'll skip a day.
Emily.T xx
Twice a week usually.
