Awesome!  Will the GM at least let you drive around in Bessie?  (The 3rd Doctor's car when he worked for UNIT)

Unlikely, given the present-day setting, but I may be able to wrangle a modern equivalent, if I'm very well-behaved, hehe.

I had one of those on my christmas wishlist but didn't get it.. on the plus side I did get a signed copy of Tom Baker's autobiography.

The other day I saw someone wearing the Tom Baker scarf with a deerstalker hat.

good news for the 50th anniversary year, the classic story The Tenth Planet is to be released on DVD with the lost episode 4 recreated in animated form, this is a huge step forward as it's the final story to feature the original Doctor and episode 4 is the first one to show us a regeneration, The Ice Warriors is also getting a release but it's not been confirmed wether eps 2 & 3 will be animated or if they'll recycle the short 'tele-snap' reconstruction they pieced together for the 40th anniversary VHS release

Woot, The Cybermen are my favorite villains from Doctor Who. I personally would rather those missing episodes be animated over the telesnaps so it feels complete. It would feel half arsed if done that way(though I am sure it takes alot of work still)

Oh cool!  I wonder if they'll include the live-action regeneration footage as part of the special features?  I hope they do!

just rewatched The Ark in Space, a very early story from Tom Baker's era as the Doctor and it's become something of a classic over the years, and I certainly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen the early years of the show but is curious to watch it.

the good thing with Colin's regen is we didn't actually see him die, all we saw was the middlepoint of the regeneration, so Colin's Doctor could have lived to a good long age and could play the Doctor as he is now, and as we never saw Paul McGann regenerate he can play the Doctor as he is now too :)

Now I'm going to have to confess I'm not an avid Whovian. I sorta like it, especially Hartnel, McCoy and Eccleston, but find so many aspects seem to irk me every so often. Currently, I just can't follow the story line at all. Though compared to the insulting and stupid acting, writing, direction and filming during the entire 70s and 80s, it's not that bad and in no small part may be due to the way TV schedulers here seem to thing that the order does matter.

But am I not correct in saying that, apart from the Dr and possibly the Master, everyone from Gallifrey was killed in the Last Great Dalek war?

Now given that, I seem to recall that every previous instance of several Drs acting and working together, has always been at the behest of the High whatevers on Gallifrey?

If that's the case, then the only way for the current Dr to bring back earlier Drs, will be to revive them and if he can do that, then presumably he could revive the all good people of Gallifrey?

At this point I have a feeling that someone is going to politiely advise me of such and such episode where this and that was done or discovered making the whole thing possible. I will genuinely look forward to that as I really do not quite underdstand.

I'll try my best...

QuoteBut am I not correct in saying that, apart from the Dr and possibly the Master, everyone from Gallifrey was killed in the Last Great Dalek war?

The Doctor and the Master survived the final day of Gallifrey, the Master was killed but had been resurrected by the Time Lords, they apparently upheald their promise from The Five Doctors to give him a new cycle of regenerations.  Rassilon tried and failed to break Gallifrey out of its fate and so the planet fell into fire and death.  Romana was locked inside of a parallel mini-universe known as e-space and did escape from it in the books and audios, but wether this is shown to be official in the TV show remains to be seen.

QuoteNow given that, I seem to recall that every previous instance of several Drs acting and working together, has always been at the behest of the High whatevers on Gallifrey?

In The Three Doctors the president authorises the removal of the first two Doctors from his time line to assist the third Doctor, much to the displeasure of the then Chancellor.  In The Five Doctors the Doctors are pulled out of time by Borusa who has become corrupted by power and desires immortality to rule forever.  In The Two Doctors the 2nd Doctor is sent on a mission by the time lords to investigate certain time experiments and then his 6th self gets caught up in them, apparently not remembering much about what happened to himself back in his earlier life.  In Dimensions in Time the Rani causes a wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey event that causes the Doctor and his companions to move about in time and space in London.  In Time Crash a different w-w t-w event causes the 10th Doctor to meet up with his earlier 5th incarnation who suddenly ages a great deal physically, to absorb the time differential.

QuoteIf that's the case, then the only way for the current Dr to bring back earlier Drs, will be to revive them and if he can do that, then presumably he could revive the all good people of Gallifrey?

The Doctor's timeline seems to be intact, as the scanning device in Vincent and the Doctor projected images of the first and second Doctors on its display.

I personally advise that everyone should watch every story :)

I'm actually doing that at the moment.  I watched the first ever episode last year and have been going through them all since.  I'm currently up to the Third Doctor's last serial.

Tuned into the latest episode last night, billed as the death of the Dr and featuring Karen Gilliam in the credits.

Karen Gilliam was on briefly for about 30 sec. The Dr. didn't die at all, just another close shave. (How unusual). Plenty of cryptic stuff, references to other characters who I also can't figure out.

The acting and production has improved enormously since the 70s and 80s. Sadly, the story lines seem to have become even more convoluted. Love to know what's going on. Love to wathc it regularly. But unless I am prepared to watch TV regularly, there's no way of knowing when so it's just a hit or miss.

Isn't that the title of the 'The Sarah Jane Adventures' episode that had the 11th doctor in and saw the return of Jo Grant?

Now you've completely lost me.

I've seen the Sarah Jane Adventures featured, but only looked at one. A sort of spin off as I recall. Looked interesting but sadly, only saw it once.

Jo Grant. Isn't that the ditzy one who was smitten with Jon Pertwee?
  •

Charley Bea(EmeraldP)

Yes she was, it was a two part episode of SJA which saw Sarah Jane meet the 11th doctor for the first time and also featured U.N.I.T, I have only seen it online.

But what you described fits that episode, I do not quite recall an episode of the main show like it.

Last night I watched Dr Who & the Daleks, as the Dr isn't a timelord but a scientist I was wondering if this film is considered part of the Dr Who timeline?

Also, in the film the lights in the TARDIS come on when the door is opened & you can clearly see the windows on the other side of the TARDIS giving away the small size of the police box, is there an explanation for this or should stop being so picky?
  •

Anna++

I don't think it's considered canon, but it's based on a story from the Who timeline.  I don't remember which one right now, but Wikipedia should be able to tell you :)
