I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what I could do in order to help pass appearance wise. No make-up in this photo. I do know my brows are a bit thick and unshaped. I'm having my hair done soon. This pic is a bit over exposed. Oh and I am 3.5 months on low dose E and half a month on spiro.

Erm, i'm being totally honest here, but i think you look super cute and totally pass in my eyes. Smiling or not. Seriously how does smiling help you pass?

Confidence in one's self and how you carry yourself absolutely

Cute. :) Yeah maybe a lil make-up and eyebrow management. You'd have no problems passing imo.

Well, you know, smiling  8)  It's one of those 'Try it you might like it' kinda deals

But be careful, smiling can be addictive and could lead to feeling happy and confident and even worse, you might start laughing and/or giggling and worst of all you may start having a good time talking and joking around with people and then and then and then... Arrrrrgh you are born into euphoria!!!

I really does help I think, hopefully pretty soon you wont be able to help it!  Some of my friends have commented that since stating hrt I and coming out the perpetual frown that used to planted onmy face has been replaced with a grin/smile.

Other than that you already mentioned the other things that spring to mind - hair and eyebrows and whatnot.  ;D

I've had a smile pretty much plastered to my face for almost 4 months now. It's a camera thing, I see one and almost instantly frown or hide. Working on breaking that habit. But thank you so much for the kind words.
Byes!!!! It's been real but this place isn't for me. Good luck in the future everyone.

I'm sorry, but I don't think you'll be able to pass as male.

Seriously, you look very good. Certainly better than me.

Well how can we answer if we are not seeing what you really look like, then, if you always smile? :-)

My first thoughts were, smile and brows.

Those you have addressed... Next I am going for....

light contouring and generally - make up.

Also hair. It needs style. There is a difference between men and women wearing long hair.

truly though.... You lucky thing.

@Emily The face shape is very good from the front.

Of course you will need to handle hair. Loss of top hair (maybe a wig or some extension, topper, whatever), and the lower hair (beard). Then probably you will be fine. The older we get, the easier become "passing", because we just need to "blend" with women of our age (which are very various in shape-sizes). For a teen is very difficult to pass because girls in their teens are... girls in their teens  ;D

I'd say amen to what Marina offered and add that the eyebrows need some work, there are excellent eyebrow tutorials on the internet that show you how to trim and shape them, you may have to use a pencil to extend them outwards. Then the little crows foot over the nose and corner of the eye can be botoxed or filled with collagen. We all get those, mine was much worse where I caught a grenade fragment in the chops long ago, but it's amazing what can be done to fix these things. You may just decide to mow the hair and get a few nice wigs later, I should do that too, but I'm procrastinating. Go for it Emily, don't let anything discourage you!

I think you need to tone down on the blush, unless you were going for the china doll look. I'm no expert, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that that's too much.

Also, there's something off about the wig, but I'm not sure what it is...

I do think you could pass with a bit of work, though.

I have the same worry about my chin as well. But on HRT, it has reshaped a little and softened up. Not due to the bone changing but from the fat, muscle, and everything changing, as well as the fact that I lost a lot of weight. Just as I have been thinking, and maybe you have thought, that our chins are too wide for a woman's chin. But the reality is yes, maybe it is wider than the average woman's chin, but there are plenty of women out the that have chins like us. Even Marilyn Monroe had a chin that was wider than the average woman's and she was considered  one of the most beautiful ladies of her time.

Have you started on HRT or considering HRT? HRT has changed the complexion of my skin, and has made my face not looked so squared, and has help my overall passing level greatly. Have you had any hair removal on your face?? I ask about the hair removal because from the photos, i believe I see a shadow on the chin area which definitely does not look feminine. To me, I cant see any make up on but I believe that if you put foundation on, covered up the blemishes on your face, had eyeliner on and had longer hair, you would do just fine. If this is your face pre-HRT, even more so. :)

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice Ksenia!

I haven't yet started HRT so that will hopefully make a few changes to my face, as for foundation, I'm not too keen on using it. I have tried it but I don't really like the feeling on my face. I think if I were to use makeup then it would be most likely just some mascara/eyeliner.

I will hopefully begin some laser hair removal soon too, as I know the stubble really does look odd when you're trying to be pretty xD

I wish I could find this long blonde wig we used to have in my house, so I could see if my face would look more feminine if it were framed with a different style/length.

Thanks for taking the time to comment!

Your expertise and criticism is welcome :)
This a bit of mixture between pics where I try to achieve something and where I dont really care, so I was interested for a feedback what kind of vibe they are sending...

The lower one with you in the red shirt/avatar your looking very feminine and cute to me Emily. Sort of remind me of an Aunt I have. Your coming along nicely, I am sure once you get your hair grown out a bit more and styled you shouldn't have much trouble at all being passable IMO.

Your looking lovely Emily! You definitely look very feminine in the face, you really do :)

@ Aina - tnx :). Auntie sounds good (I am not that old... am I? :)).
@ Bardoux - thankie :)  Those words do mean a lot to me - although I do not always see that in the mirror - but especially when someone like You says that and I remember Your pics, where You look like a 20-22 year old cis-girl... :)

Lizagirl... the avatar is bigger than the photo :)

it's difficult to say... the picture seems a female portrait, but of course the details are hidden  :police:

Sorry I don't have a much larger version to put up.

It looks like the camera resting on something low? Raise it up to chest to eye height or so... it will give you a more true-to-life look in terms of proportions.

Well, regarding your silhouette and the general impression the picture conveys you look just fine. However, without a clearer pic I can't give any more detailed opinion.

You might or might not pass, but without a better picture I can't tell for sure. But for what it's worth, I don't think anyone would give a second glance if you showed them this picture.
