I had electrolysis today, and tried something a little different. I've had red patches and little infected spots, electrolysis zits, after previous recent sessions. This time, before I left home I wiped down my skin with chlorhexidine gluconate 4% solution, a common presurgery skin cleaner, then put on my lidocaine gel (greencaine 4%) and topped with the usual plastic wrap to avoid evaporation.

Jodie wipes this off before starting, of course, but leaves it "in the pores" for my session. This helps.

Afterward I cleaned up, shaving with an electric razor instead of my usual blade. Not as close but it doesn't nick the hundreds of little raised spots. Then I tried witch hazel as an astringent, and an aloe vera gel on the irritated skin.

I still look bee-stung, but nowhere near as red as after previous sessions. That makes me happy.

Then, I went for my walk, about three miles in our downtown area. Without makeup, for once following instructions to see if that helps. I only attracted unusual looks twice that I noticed, both from older men who were checking me out until they got to the face.

Yeah, me sans makeup is not particularly passable yet. [emoji23]   Maybe another year and a couple surgeries will help.

Still, my mannerisms, movement, and dress are getting better. That also makes me happy.

My wife and I have just spent the day in Santa Fe, a favorite town for us to visit. Between the restaurants and jewelry shopping we were exhausted. The part of the day that really rang my happy bells is the conversations with people in town. I won't pretend to assume I pass, not up close in conversation. But today has been all about being fully accepted and welcomed. For me, that is as good as it can get. - Anne

Last night I came out to my FaceBook world and this morning was greeted by nearly 80 likes and countless beautiful comments!

This week I realized that I need new body awareness because I'm unexpectedly running into things with my breasts - doorways, tools, etc.

It was surprising to simply realize something this basic changes me in ways I'd not expected.

My partner and I are going to a couple of Xmas parties over the next two weeks. On Black Friday, I bought my first dress! Really pretty. Actually my partner (wife) picked it out for me. Now I have to find a new bra because my present one shows too much under the arms. This could be a challenge.

Just wait for the skin to get thinner and therefore more sensitive.. You'll get the aforementioned body awareness soon enough, since you'll be hurting yourself much more than before.

Waking up and realizing that this wasn't a dream . I really have a vagina now ! :D

Congrats! That's wonderful. :)  I can't wait to be at that point, someday.

I just got my appointment dates for HRT: three weekly appointments starting Jan 3rd.  So, I should be on HRT in 48 days.    :D  Woo-hoo!  There'd better not be any blizzards on those days or I'm going to be pissed.

Not specifically today because this is a slow process but I'm happy that minoxidil (3 months) and finasteride (2 months) appear to be doing their thing.

I spent several hours at the UU church, for services, coffee hour, and the "minister's salon", a discussion group.  I chatted with a dozen people, about everything from walking activity, iPhones, moving and downsizing, to political economics.

Not once did anyone bring up anything transgender with me.  :D  I was just another person having pleasant conversations with folks.

The Unitarian Univeralists I have known have always been very accepting of LGBTQ folks and our local groups have been welcoming, inclusive and had presentations from our local Gender Alliance.  Nice to have their support!

Today is a day of three firsts.  Tried on a bikini this morning.  I liked it, but I need a little more.... Upstairs before I'm ready, so i got a tankini.
About to get my first mani-pedi (I'm in the parking lot for an appointment in 15 minutes.)
Then I'll be 100% Dee while checking into the hotel.  Let's see how well the Hilton reception desk is trained for this.  😉

My mother is being much more understanding and talkative about my whole situation! :)
It was really bad at the start.

I had a lady come up to speak to me.  She says "Excuse me, Ma'am..."  We talked for a moment and she left. I go back to what I was doing.  And after about a minute I realized that she never apologized for calling me ma'am.  After she looked me right in my face and heard my voice, nothing had indicated maleness to her.  It was an amazing moment!   ;D

Went to voice therapy this A.M.  Doing well but somehow speaking in the 165hz 175hz range sounds phoney. At least during exercises. My voice cracks at anything higher. I have always had a monotone voice, so adjusting is being problematic right now. In fact I talked to my ex for the first time in thirty seven years and she knew immediately who it was. I am making progress though. Bought a sports bra as my breasts have grown to an unmanageable size. Not huge but definitely recognizable under my shirts.
