Yesterday actually, I had a packet of Alaskan smoked salmon and figured to make salmon sandwiches
(Much the same like tuna sandwiches)

But my patience got the best of me and I just snapped the salmon down strait away as soon as I opened the packet  :icon_dribble:

I made New England clam chowder in a bread bowl to celebrate the the Patriot's season opener game

Unfortunately a win was not in the cards for them last night but the soup was good  ;D

I'm weird like that though, the game schedule tends to have quite an influence upon my menu for the day  :-\

Fried corn is a southern way to make corn. I found out about it from my neighbor.  You cut the kernels off the corn and fry it in butter with like a teaspoon of sugar. Then when its done add more butter and some salt. You can use canned or frozen corn but fresh corn is so much better.  It's so good fried compared to boiling it.

Thank you Julia. Another thing from you I'll have to try. Though I doubt I'll add the sugar as corn is usually sweet enough by itself and I don't need the added sugar. My diabetes likes it by my doctor doesn't.

Swede or as it is called in America rutabaga is similar to a turnip All they are bulbous roots and taste quite a bit different with different textures when cooked I usually will cut them into chunks like a potato and cook in stews.

We used get mashed swede served to us at school,  but I'd never heard its other name.  [emoji4]

I may have heard of swede before but couldn't think of what it was until after I looked it up. I've never had it mashed myself. I don't think the average American these days have even tasted swede, turnip or parsnips. I haven't had then very much myself. Here the staple starch is potato and probable rice.

Lol, because she's from the UK. Brits and Aussies have their own words for things. Tristan calls French fries chips, cookies biscuits,  eggs bumnuts and once when I made shepherds pie he said it reminded him of Bubble and squeak.

Heather and I are having homemade orange chicken and Asian style salad.  Simple and "lowish" calorie.  We has some spectacular spaghetti last night that she made along with my pita garlic bread.

A slap together stovetop tuna casserole, but it's the biggest hot meal I've had since surgery so it really hit the spot.
