The Question--no question, you look female.

As far as my hair goes, it's still generally there. I voluntarily shaved it bald until a few days ago.

I am hoping to go on HRT simultaneous with gastric bypass, so hopefully...the fat will go to the right spots and I'll drop about 120. I'm about 265-270 now. Want to get to 150 or lower.

I know many say lose the weight first but I think that given the surgery and mones, it'll be cool. Whattaya think?

I didn't take offense, really! I was just teasing about the wording. I think my face is very....play-dough. But I was not offended at all.

I got that picture via e-mail.....well....you've come a long way. Good work!

sororcaeli, that wasn't what I was implying.  I was more making reference to Aus76 putting man in capitals.  As for you... I think you have good potential.  I really don't see anything overly masculine going on with your face or anything and it looks like you have a small frame based on that photo, and that goes a long way.  I also have height going against me, probably more than yourself.  I'm the tiniest bit under 6'0"... so basically 6'0".

It all comes down to what you're comfortable with. Losing weight isn't so much about the weight loss itself, but because the fat doesn't actually move. New fat cells grow in their appropriate locations, so after losing current weight you intentionally gain it back so it pops up where it's supposed to be. My step-sister had a lap band and the fat just melted off of her. I think she was well over 300 lbs at first. Good luck with that and everything else! *cheers*

I'm glad you didn't, but I'm still hard on myself. I have Asperger's and I'm still working on my communication skills. And thanks!

I just put up a new avatar pic.  The old one was a little too dark and this one you can see my face better.  I'm 26, no HRT yet.  I shaved, put make-up on, and threw on a wig as well.  I have to admit, my skin is pretty flawless.  I went on Accutane a couple years ago.  It was rough, but worth it IMO.  I still have most of my hair and will add that it is the exact same color as the wig.  I have a little bit of thinning, but with hrt I'm not too concerned.  If it stops here and, god forbid, thickens back up a bit I'll be in good shape.  My natural hairline has receded a bit, but not too much and it's just a itsy bit higher than that wig line.  Judge me!!!  Be honest.  I'm not sure if I want to start HRT or not and I'm trying to gauge whether I have any chance.  I'm trying to decide within the next month and a half or so.  Do I look like I could pass, from the neck up at least?

Any chance?!?! You look great already, I wish I had your starting point. Only a little (or totally..) jealous of your skin and your makeup looks really nicely done too. Ugh, want to swap?

This is the part where I ask for brutal honesty.....pick out the flaws.....

30, mtf, Pre-HRT, last 3 shots wearing wig (or I have magical hair-growing ability...you decide) PS: Sorry for sideways pics.

I think things will work well for you. Hairline looks good to go, your cheek/jaw is well rounded and doesn't scream masculine. There's a nice natural arch to your eyebrows. Your skin looks a little irritated in the last few pics around the chin so make sure you take good care of it, and HRT apparently helps a lot.

Thanks, TheQuestion. Trust me, there's worse photos available. And yeah, I do have a smaller frame, and I'm pretty sure it's due to being XXY, although I have no proof of that. I'm 5'11", but I hear HRT makes you shrink an inch. Woo, what a difference! :P

I don't really have TOO much of an issue with my height, but I have a small-medium frame and big hands... so I'll take the inch if it happens.  Don't forget, there's basically an unwritten rule that to be a female model you have to be between 5'9"-6'1".  Also, if you are XXY then you should have aided HRT results.

The stuff that seems like indicators to me is that I'm constantly assumed to be way younger than 33, long and skinny limbs, the digit ratio thing as my index and ring fingers are the same length, very weak facial hair, maybe a few lone chest hairs, and everything else is vellus hair. Oh, and I apparently have hips: https://www.dropbox.com/s/hcnt2z9ctvqmsqf/Photo%20on%207-30-14%20at%206.27%20PM%20%232.jpg?dl=0

And I think it also can cause developmental disorders like Asperger's as well as cause hypersensitivity/emotionality. All of my androgen seemed to make its home on my head since I have a repulsive receding hairline. I'm really hoping HRT can bring some of that back, but I'm not holding my breath.

This is sort of what I'm going for initially. My hairline recedes, so it needs to be something I can brush forward.

The face registers as female for me, even better if you add some makeup. Any chance you can let your hair grow longer?

Marcellow — that picture isn't of me. I just like her hair and it seems like something I might be able to pull off. And if HRT helps with growing in any receded hairline then that will help a lot.

TheQuestion — I realised I've completely skipped your original post, and you deserve some commentary from me since you gave yours. From what I see there's absolutely no reason at all to worry about passing. You look wonderful! I understand that you're wearing a wig, but I only knew that after reading your post. Looks like real hair to me. I'm eager to see more pics. Seeing everyone's on here and other threads is very inspiring and makes me smile. :)

The look I'm going for is much less feminine, but I still don't want to come across as androgynous; at least not too much. I'd definitely like to avoid any gender confusion while still dressing in goth-ish attire. I made a post in the fashion forum titled "Dark Fashion" to give you an idea of what I like. The clothing style itself doesn't scream feminine, but it's far more than what I wear now (which I wouldn't even call boyish, just casual). I really enjoy wearing my beanie so I'm sure I'll continue to, but it will be nice to be able to take it off when it gets too hot and not have an ugly, clocking mess. I haven't had long hair since I was 18. I really hope it doesn't come in too thin. Thankfully, I'm not balding. I'll probably keep the shorter style for a little while and then just let it grow once HRT begins to stimulate any other hair follicles that might be lying dormant.

This past month my dysphoria has been in high gear, but it's finally starting to fade, and I have all of you to thank for helping with that. I really hope my words are equally helpful despite my occasional bad choice of phrasing. I've not been in this forum very long, but I've already started to feel at home. Anyway, enough of my rambling! I now must return to watching Doctor Who! (I downloaded it.. shhh)

I was actually considering getting an eyebrow piercing. I even need my ears pierced. I know, ridiculous, isn't it? If my nose was smaller I'd get that done, as well. My main thing right now is getting more ink done. I only have one tattoo on my right arm, just the words "QUESTION EVERYTHING", and it was kind of a shoddy job. Needs retouching.

I want my eye brows pierced as well. and I don't have a single piecing yet so it is not that ridiculous. us girls have a lot we have to pay for. I have a really boyish tattoo on my chest that I need to get covered up. and its decent sized so its gonna be kinda expensive.

Yikes. I hear that chest tattoos are really painful. When I got the one on my arm it felt like a thousand ant stings initially, then it was just numb. I grimaced a bit, but it wasn't that bad. I'm not a fan of pain, but for some reason I have this illogical desire for more! The next things I'm getting is the alchemical symbol for Mercury below my left wrist, and the Thelemic unicursal hexagram below my right wrist. I eventually want to get some kind of mandala, as well.

Haha, no, I'm not upset. I'm just inspired and overwhelmed by everyone's amazing transformations. :) And thank you for the compliment!

I know right, I wish I was as thin as you, I been on a really healthy diet, and Im down to about 239 from 260, You have a feminine face to die for. I am halfway in style, like I like rocker kinda look and I have very feminine clothes and I am a sucker for pretty shoes, but I cant wait to get to or below 200, I can live with that bc of the way im built I will be able to start hrt there. And I read one of your other post about hair loss, Im in the same boat at 30, I started using MiN home maintenece products and there hair loss spray about 3 months ago, and it works! it takes time but my hair is slowly getting thicker on top and growing back. Its expensive but it works. I look forward to seeing how beautiful you will be when you finish transition.
I feel like a butterfly emerging from her cacoon, I'm finally starting to live.

the chest wasn't nearly bad as the top of the shoulder or on the arm by the arm pit. omg when my tattoo was creeping towards the arm pit it stung so bad.

Echoes of Elaina

Hi hi, I mostly lurk 'round these parts :embarrassed:. There are so many cuties in this thread! Carla @.@!

llerret, I think that when people say you "don't look like other women," they literally just mean that you have a unique and exotic look, and not that you "don't look like a woman," if you catch the distinction. You're gorgeous, just gorgeous.

I'm very nervous but I'd love to get some opinions on these that don't come from very close friends. I shared the first one here with two of my pals as a sort of "coming out" (that went much better than I anticipated!) and they were both super sweet but, y'know, one's been mah pal for a decade and the other is a known philanderer () so he's liable to tell me anything.
I'm 28, pre everything and wearing a silly hair hat without makeup. Specific male-y weak points besides the utterly ridiculous eyebrows and that schnoz of mine? ??? Anything that actually works? Is this an OK starting point? Brutality please :'(.
:icon_headfones:
my voice just echoes off these walls.
and I just slowly fade away.

Echoes, you have nothing to worry about as far as I'm concerned. Very pretty. You call attention to your nose, but I honestly don't think it's a giveaway that you aren't genetically female. If you are planning on starting HRT you'll have excellent results.
