For me, the first week's sleep was a tricky thing.

Peircing my ears was one of my first public statements that I considered myself "different". I love wearing earrings.

Well, three weeks in and the piercings are doing well  :icon_chick:

Today was my first appt. to discuss gender issues with my therapist. That went surprisingly well also  :icon_yes:

I thought he didn't understand gender issues. Wrong....I just didn't know how to bring it up  :P Duh Virginia

So now we're on for once a week to start off

I'm glad your ears are doing well, Virginia.  And that's wonderful about your therapist.  :eusa_dance:

Always make forward progress.  (Now, where did I hear that before? ???)

I have a wide jaw. I need to add width above it.

For me, I'm finding I look the most passable on average with my hair pulled back (down, its length just widens my face like a pyramid), with glasses on, and earrings. Simple hoop earrings rest right between my cheek bone and jaw bone and do a wonderful job of balancing things. They draw attention to that part of your face very well. Of course, if you want to minimize that part of your face, you want to be careful what style and how flashy they are.

You can't wear them until your ears have healed, but they're a favored part of my accessories. I don't like how heavy solid hoops with gem stones are (that's what I'm wearing currently), but I've had hollow golden ones in the past that were basically feather light. And that's how they were lost dancing.

I have had my ears pierced for around 20 years.   I love wearing dangly earrings although this looks a bit OTT with short hair.  I cannot wait for my hair to grow out to complete the look

Well, six weeks in and the piercings are doing well.

My B-Day is coming up in a few weeks and since I'm the only one that will buy me any gifts I want or need, Ive decided to get a round of E and Spiro. Plus a second piercing just behind and a little higher than the first. about the 2:00 position. Maybe some cute ear rings to go in the first piercing.  :icon_chick:

Congrats on the piercing and therapy, Virginia!  I just had my ears pierced the other day, and it is really fun to turn the studs.

6 weeks may be way too early. It took me 9 months to really heal, part of it because i changed out earrings early on for a while.

Try buying a 10 karat gold ring and wearing it around for a while - that'll tell you if you can wear 10k or not. If you already know that you can't, be sure NOT to get 10k earrings. In fact, even if you can, silver or surgical steel is probably a much better option for now - or 24k plated (like the earrings they use for piercings. I still wear mine sometimes a year and a half later.)

Glad to hear that things are going as they should with the ears!!

FWIW, I got mine done last week... I went to a place where they will pretty much pierce whatever you like... I didn't want any part of that, but these people know what they're doing.  For aftercare, all they gave me was this spray called "H2Ocean," basically purified seawater.  Spray it on 3 to 6 times a day, and move the studs back and forth when you do, no need to clean them or remove them, leave 'em in for 2 months.

Knock on wood, but in the first week, have had no swelling, no redness, no nothing.  Have been able to sleep on my side as I normally do every night.

Protex antibacterial soap is good for piercings too.

Well, Two months in and the piercings are doing well  :)

Today is my B-Day. So as previously mentioned, I got my second piercings.

Small diamonds to accent the silver studs.

I also will get my E and Spiro sometime in the next week  :icon_chick:

Thank You All for your replies and B-Day wishes  :icon_chick:

The girl that did the second piercing said it was time to start soaking the first studs in alcohol. So I did that

But then I dropped one of the backings down the sink :icon_blink: No worries, I've taken plenty of drains apart before  :icon_hahano:

All cleaned up and back where they belong  :icon_biggrin:

I haven't done it yet. ... I'm thinking next week. :D
All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.
